Gorgeous 1971 Chevrolet C-10 pickup truck frame on restoration! Painted in the very desirable Chevrolet medium blue inside and out this truck one of the cleanest C-10's that I've seen. The body is laser straight with all the gaps between doors, fenders, & hood lining up just as they should. The doors open & close tight with absolutely no sag. All door weather stripping, window rubber and window felt has been replaced. As you can see in the pics the paint shines up beautifully. Being conservative I would give the paint a 8 of 10 due to some very minor scratches from driving which I have detailed pics of below. The chrome & trim are in excellent condition with new bumpers both front & back. It is powered by a SBC 307 V8 with a 350 turbo transmission. The engine starts up immediately and runs smooth as you can hear for yourself in the video I've posted below. The transmission shifts smooth and the truck hits the road well. It handles very tight and the power steering works great. It has also has been converted over to disc brakes. The 8" truck rally wheels has like new Firestone 235/70 R15 rubber with 90% tread on them. The interior of this truck is gorgeous! The cabs interior has been repainted in the factory blue and all the vinyl replaced including the seat & dash pad. It still has the factory steering wheel. All new dash & gauge bezels, new glove glove box, and new floor mat. It almost looks as good as it did in 1971 even the factory AM stereo still works! VIDEO LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRaSgQGYZgY Overall this is an extremely clean, good looking, reliable C-10 that is a real pleasure to drive. I just drove it on a 240+ mile trip 2 weeks ago and would get in it and go anywhere! If you've been looking for a very nice unmolested C-10 I assure you you won't be disappointed with this one! Please message me or call with any questions you may have. Chris 864-617-4194 NOTE: I reserve the right to end this auction early as I also have it for sale locally. Please realize that many, if not most of my auctions end early due to someone contacting me to work out a deal before the close of the auction. Leak reveals GM's 2017 heavy duty diesel trucks to get 910 lb-ft of torque [UPDATE]
Tue, Sep 27 2016UPDATE: Chevrolet officially announced specs for the 2017 Silverado HD and the rumors were true. The truck's new Duramax 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 puts out 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. Chevrolet says the new motor produces 19 percent more torque and 12 percent more horsepower, while producing 35 percent fewer emissions. Overall, the new engine is a big improvement over the current motor, which generates 397 horsepower and 765 pound-feet of torque. According to Truck Trend, GM's newest heavy duty pickup trucks will pick up quite a bit more power and torque. The publication spotted a recent GM Powertrain ordering catalog that had the engine specs for the 2017 model year and managed to get some screenshots before the catalog was taken down, and they can be viewed here. The screenshots revealed that the 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 powering the Silverado and Sierra heavy duty models will boast 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. This is a substantial gain over the current models' 397 horsepower and 765 lb-ft of torque, and as Truck Trend points out, it exceeds the Ford Super Duty line's horsepower output of 440, but comes short of the 925 lb-ft rating. Truck Trend credits part of this output gain to the new intake system GM will introduce on the 2017 heavy duties. The intake gets 60 percent of its air from a scoop on the hood, with the other 40 percent coming from behind one of the front fenders. GM doesn't reveal horsepower figures in the press release about the scoop, but it does say the cooler air helps with maintaining the engine's output, and that the scoop does produce a ram-air affect, providing more air at speed. As we know, more air plus more fuel equals more power, but there's likely more to the power increase in this engine than only the intake. Personal testimonies show real-world effect of plugging in with Chevy Volt
Mon, Jan 13 2014At this point, there are tens of thousands of individual stories about what it's like to live with a Chevrolet Volt. But it also remains informative to take a look at one of these in depth. For example, one Atlanta-area Volt owner says he's cut his cents-per-mile ownership costs by almost 40 percent compared to his previous car primarily because of his ability to drive almost all the time on electric power. Jeffrey Cohen told Clean Technica that he put about 14,000 miles on his Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid for the year that ended October 2013, and that more than 92 percent of those were on electrons. He estimates his "lifetime" miles per gallon rating at a whopping 384 mpg, a figure pushed upward by the fact that he installed a Level 2 charger at home while his employer added an external 110-volt charger at work. Cohen is spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents in his Infiniti M35. As a result, he's spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents a mile with his prior vehicle, an Infiniti M35. About two-thirds of those Volt costs are for the $349-a-month lease payments, while 15 percent is insurance, 11 percent is for the charger and seven percent for the gas and electricity that actually powers the car. Helping lower that last figure is an overnight electricity rate that's about 10 percent of Cohen's daytime rate. Chevy parent General Motors hopes such testimonies will re-trigger sales for the Volt in 2014. Last year, GM sold 23,094 Volts, down 1.6 percent from 2012. We expect our readers have similar stories they'd like to share in the Comments. GM to make most cars LTE hotspots for 2015
Mon, 25 Feb 2013General Motors isn't the first automaker to deliver in-car Internet access, but a proposed plan announced today could make the technology more widespread than any of its competitors have offered. By the 2015 model year, most Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC products in the US and Canada will offer 4G LTE mobile broadband access. Initially, GM will just be pairing with AT&T to deliver this service, but additional carriers will be revealed in the future.
Current in-car Wi-Fi hot spots are limited to 3G, but GM says that 4G LTE is 10 times faster than 3G service and will allow for full Internet access, including streaming video for entertainment as well as services like real-time traffic updates and navigation driving directions. There is also no need for a paired smartphone with this new system, which should make it easier to use, and GM and AT&T will also be working together to develop new apps for customers.
Buyers can expect to start seeing 4G LTE in their cars starting next year, and GM is already planning to expand the service to other global markets as well. All of the information from GM's announcement is posted in a press release below.
