1970 Chevy C-10 Long Bed Pro Street Back Halved Narrowed Tubbed Big Block 4speed on 2040-cars
Lakeville, Massachusetts, United States
Up for sale is a nearly restored 1970 C-10 Long bed. The truck has already had the frame and bed professionally back halved, narrowed, and tubbed. It has been dropped three plus inches by using dropped springs and spindles. No corners cut in the prep work or finish so far.
The current rear end needs axles and gears, but has been prepped to accept the suspension and narrowed frame. If I didn't use the current rear end, my plan was to custom fit the rear end from a dually for a very unique look. The motor has been broken in while in my 1969 Corvette (sold) for approximately 45 minutes and runs incredibly strong, and keeps pulling all the way through the RPM range. The engine specifics are below, as are the specs for the 4 speed Muncie M-21 which has as much break in time as the engine. All the body work and paint work on the cab has been completed except a dent in the hood which came about after painting. The body work for the bed is complete and it's currently in primer. My plan was to open up the paint on the cab, paint the bed with a two coats, then final coat the entire truck, then clear the entire truck at the same time. I did my best to describe the truck. Once the rear end is done, I believe it is only a couple weekends away from being ready to complete the painting and putting a final clear coat. I will include a gallon of the single stage paint already applied to the truck from Summit Racing. Sorry for any dust on the truck in the pictures. Will sell without the motor and transmission as well What's There Frame - sanded, rust proofed, and painted Suspension - New front suspension components including ball joints, resurfaced rotors, reconditioned calipers, new shocks and lowering springs with dropped spindles, - Rear shocks with coil overs Engine - 454 big block - cleaned, magnifluxed, aligned honed, bored over .030 - Large intake/exhaust square port heads, lightly prepped - New Eagle Crank with new bearings - New Connecting Rods ( end ring type, not press fit ) with new bearings - New JE Forge Pistons with new rings - New Comp Cam Hydraulic Roller Lifter - Edelbrock 750 - Summit HEI Distributor - Edelbrock Toker II Intake Note: The motor was built from specs using Comp Cam software indicating horsepower and torque are bit over 600 each. Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Detroit Auto Show [w/poll]
Wed, Jan 14 2015Here at Autoblog, we love unexpected debuts at auto shows – and judging by our Detroit Auto Show comments and traffic, you do, too. Surprise reveals have been fewer and farther between in recent years with so many ways for vehicles to be teased or leak out, but this week's show has been a revelation. More to the point, it's been a series of revelations, with automakers from around the globe successfully delivering a brace of concept and production surprises. It's made our jobs a lot more exciting and challenging this week, and even though it's actually more work to react and run-and-gun when the sheet is pulled on a surprise reveal than it is to publish an already-written embargoed story, we've had more fun covering this show for you than any domestic show in memory. We hope you've enjoyed the surprises along with us. To that end, borrowing the words of an unnamed automaker PR flack, we'd like to thank the following automakers for enduring "mountain of antacids" and that "creeping sense of paranoia" necessary to keeping ones' wares totally under wraps until the sheets are pulled off the sheetmetal: Buick Avenir concept Chevrolet Bolt concept Ford GT concept Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Hyundai HCD-15 Santa Cruz concept And while we're at it, we'd like to throw in an shout-out to Detroit's substantially revised and revitalized Cobo Center, and in particular, the redone Michelin media center, which is arguably the single best accommodations for writing show stories that we've encountered on the entire international circuit. Well done, everyone. Thank you, and keep the surprises coming. Auto News Detroit Auto Show Buick Chevrolet Ford Hyundai Volvo 2015 Detroit Auto Show

Recharge Wrap-up: Phoenix Cars delivers ZEUS to Navy, Volt saves gas compared to i-MiEV
Thu, Apr 23 2015Phoenix Cars has delivered its first Zero Emissions Utility Shuttle (ZEUS) flatbed truck to the US Navy. The electric flatbed will be used to transport maintenance materials around Naval Base Ventura County Port Hueneme. The Phoenix ZEUS features a 100-mile range, and can charge in just three hours. It also features vehicle-to-grid technology and direct power capability, allowing it to function as a mobile power station. ZEUS customers enjoy an eight-year/300,000-mile battery warranty and round-the-clock technical support from Phoenix. Phoenix launched an electric passenger shuttle last year, and years ago worked on an electric sport utility truck before shifting over to larger vehicles. Read more in the press release from Phoenix Cars. A man found that he used less gas by trading in his Mitsubishi i-MiEV for a Chevrolet Volt. Ben Rich saved fuel in part by using his Volt for road trips rather than needing to rent cars. Rich also found other benefits to driving a Volt, including more comfort, more freedom of movement and less range anxiety. Rich often had to turn off the heat in the winter to eke out precious miles in the Mitsubishi, which he needn't do in the Chevy, though he did have a gripe about the Volt using the gas motor to warm the car. ChargePoint has tallied over 9 million charging sessions for a total of 65 gigawatt hours of energy. Based on national efficiency averages of three miles per kWh and 23.9 miles per gallon, this has saved 8.2 million gallons of gasoline and 60 million pounds of CO2. This accounts for what ChargePoint calls a "huge environmental impact." Read more in the release from ChargePoint below. The Environmental Impact of ChargePoint Drivers Campbell, Calif.– We all know electric vehicles (EV) have enormous environmental advantages over gas vehicles. Plug-in EVs reduce carbon-based greenhouse gases, improve air quality and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. EV drivers on the ChargePoint network have had a huge environmental impact. With over 9 million charging sessions delivering 65 gigawatt hours of energy, EV drivers have avoided over 60 million pounds of CO2 and 8.2 million gallons of gasoline, and driven over 196 million gas-free miles. *Based on national averages: EV efficiency of 3 miles per kWh, gas efficiency of 23.9 mpg and a net savings of 0.924 pounds of CO2 per kWh.
