1970 Chevrolet C-10 Short Bed Truck Bucket Seats New Motor And Exhaust Classic on 2040-cars
Napa, California, United States
Condition to disclose: This is a daily driver, mostly in town, but I do take to SFO airport and when returning from work I am in traffice for 2.5-3 hours with no issues, no overheating or such. Just lots of thumbs up when I'm on the road. Paint is original as seen in pics, no bondo, truck is nicely straight except passenger door has some minor dings on it. Doors and cab have drill holes from old camper mirrors and old tie down hooks on bed. Under carriage looks its age but nothing beyond that. The cab needs a new mat if you like but i feel it matches the rest of the truck. The seat have some holes but again match the patina of the truck. Condition the good: Original motor replaced with another new/rebuilt 350. About 260HP with motor additions of Edelbrock aluminum intake and carb, plus new Magnaflow Dual Exhaust, truck sounds real nice. At the same time as motor work the large radiator was rebuilt, along with brakes, and tranny rebuilt. All this within the last 8-10 thousand miles. Truck is very presentable and reliable. I've had more people ask me to sell this vehicle then any other I've ever owned just because of the cool factor. Also note: all new belts, and radiator hoses, plus also a new Optima red top battery not shown in pics. Features: C-10 trim all present. Ralley wheels and tires have 90%+ thread. New dash pad. New radio and single dash speaker, radio looks old school but has MP3 feature. Bucket seats with factory center console. Instrument panel all works and has desired tach. Tilt steering column. Original factory green tint glass. All lights, blinkers, and interior components work. Strong newer motor and great sounding Magnaflow dual exhaust. 15x8 Ralley wheels with newer BF Goodrich tires. New/rebuilt motor and tranny, no leaks in the drive way!!! History: I bought this a few years ago as I always wanted a Chevy short bed truck. When i bought it the gentleman I bought it from flipped it from a family that had owned it for 39 years. It needed a lot of work as explained above. This truck is really cool as it sits and the only things I would do would be to replace front bushings to ease up the squeeking if that bothers you, but the truck drives very tight as I did replace the front sway bar bushings, and maybe replace the floor mat, but again, it matches the trucks patina. This truck is very reliable and what I like is it has no leaks which is tought to do with these old trucks. This truck is very reliable on a daily bases. Shipping: This is for local pick up only. Buyer will have to make his own arraingments. This truck is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end listing at any time. This truck is being sold as is, where is, and no warranty of any kind is expressed. You buy it its yours as is. Thank you. |

Weekly Recap: GM plans massive new paint shop at Chevy Corvette factory
Sat, May 23 2015General Motors is laying out some serious green to maintain the Chevy Corvette's expansive color palette. The automaker is breaking ground on a new paint shop this summer that's part of a $439-million investment to upgrade the 34-year-old Bowling Green, KY, factory that builds the Stingray. The massive new structure will total 450,000 square feet, nearly half the size of the current 1-million square-foot facility. Construction is expected to take two years and won't impact Corvette production. The upgrades include new robots that save paint and create a better finish, longer, more efficient ovens to bake in the finish, and LED lighting. There's also a dry scrubbing booth technology with a limestone handling system that eliminates waste. GM has invested $135 million in the factory in last four years for the changeover to build the C7 and to relocate its Performance Build Center to Bowling Green. The improvements continue to modernize the Kentucky factory, which has become a tourist attraction in its own right, as more than 56,000 enthusiasts visited it last year. The upgrades are part of a $5.4-billion investment GM confirmed in April that will remake its US footprint in the next three years. The Bowling Green expansion underscores GM's continued commitment to the Corvette, which sold nearly 38,000 copies around the world last year, an eight-year high. "With this major technology investment, we can continue to exceed the expectations of sports car buyers for years to come," North American manufacturing manager Arvin Jones said in a statement. OTHER NEWS & NOTES Takata recall hits 34 million vehicles The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration expanded the Takata airbag recall to an almost unthinkable 34 million vehicles on Tuesday. The recall is part of an agreement reached by the two sides where Takata admitted some of its airbag inflators have a defect, and the deal compels the company to comply with all future regulatory actions and investigations. Takata's airbag inflators were produced with "a propellant that can degrade over time" and lead to ruptures, NHTSA said. Six deaths have been attributed to the flaw worldwide. Investigations conducted by Takata, automakers, and others have not determined the exact cause of the inflator problem, but NHTSA said moisture appears to alter the propellant's chemical structure. It then ignites too rapidly, creates too much pressure that ruptures the inflator, and blasts shards of metal at passengers.
Automakers score 8 out of top 20 most-watched ads on YouTube [w/videos]
Fri, 14 Dec 2012Who would have ever thought there'd be a day where people are able to skip television commercials only to go to websites to watch them later? Such is the joy of a DVR and YouTube. AdWeek tabulated the 20 most-watched ads on YouTube, and found that nine were car-related including eight coming from automakers.
Volkswagen continued its Star Wars theme with two ads in the top 20, including the highest-ranking car commercial The Bark Side spot at number three with almost 18 million views, which doesn't even have a single car in it. Some of our favorites are from Chrysler with Clint Eastwood in It's Halftime in America and House Arrest with Charlie Sheen for the Fiat 500 Abarth. Chevrolet, Honda, Audi and Toyota were the other automakers in the top 20, but we'd be remiss if we didn't at least mention one of the coolest ads on the list, the Hot Wheels corkscrew jump.
Of all the car videos, only the Fiat ad wasn't played during a Super Bowl. Check out all eight videos - in order - after the jump. Nike took the top spot with its My Time is Now ad that has been seen online more than 20 million times with Pepsi's Uncle Drew posted up in the runner-up; some of the other videos include four Old Spice commercials and an ad in which Snoop Dogg is pedaling Hot Pockets.
Chevy's 6.6-liter Duramax is pretty much all new
Thu, Sep 29 2016To say there's a heated battle in heavy-duty pickups is an understatement, with Chevrolet, Ford, and Ram constantly trading blows of increased torque, horsepower, and towing capacity. The latest salvo is the revised, more powerful turbo diesel 6.6-liter Duramax V8 in the 2017 Chevy Silverado. It has 910 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 145, putting it nearly level with the Ford Super Duty. Here's a closer look at where those gains come from. How exactly did Chevrolet add all that torque plus 48 horsepower? The automaker essentially took a fine-tooth comb to the entire engine. Chevy says it changed 90 percent of the V8, and the cumulative effect of those small changes adds up to big increases. As you might guess, the turbocharger is updated. The larger unit features electric actuation of the variable nozzle turbine (VNT), and what Chevy calls a double axle cartridge mechanism that separates the VNT moving parts from the housing. That helps with heat performance as well, with a claim that the exhaust side of the turbo can run continuously up to 1,436 degrees Fahrenheit. Helping that cause are six exhaust gaskets made of Inconel - an nickel alloy that contains chromium and iron – and upgraded stainless steel for the exhaust manifold. Despite having the same cast iron cylinder block, albeit with some minor enhancements, the engine has new cylinder heads, pistons, piston pins, connecting rods, and crankshaft, which have all been upgraded to handle 20 percent higher cylinder pressures. Alongside the increase in pressure, Chevrolet also increased the cylinder head's structure with a honeycomb design. The pattern features high-strength aluminum with dual layer water jackets that not only improve strength, but also optimize water flow for better cooling. For 2017, the cylinder head also benefits from integrated plenum that aids the engine in getting more air under heavy loads. The cylinder head isn't the only component to get a minor update, as the pistons have a larger diameter pin for improved oil flow. The same detailed improvements has been bestowed to the humble connecting rods (second in our hearts only to the inanimate carbon rod). The new design has the bolts oriented roughly 45-degrees to the rod instead of parallel. The angle split design, as it's called allows for easier passage through the cylinder.
