1968 Chevrolet C10 Patina Shop Truck
For your consideration is my 1968 Chevrolet C10 short bed. This truck is as unique and cool as they come. Just
completed a full restoration on the truck in which I will outline below. The truck runs, drives, stops and handles
beautifully without issue, and grabs attention wherever it goes.
The exterior of this amazing truck received an extensive and one of a kind faux patina paint job. The truck was put
back in its original white and red two tone color scheme with the correct GM paint codes. This faux patina paint is
one of a kind, and done to an extremely high standard. We began with PPG base coats to achieve a very realistic
layered look to give the truck a very authentic patina look and feel. After many grueling hours of critiquing and
perfecting the faux patina, the truck was given three coats of PPG high solids satin clear to protect and preserve
the work done. Additionally, the truck received brand new factory lower moldings and trim, brand new grill,
headlights, tail lights, mirrors, bright work, weather stripping, 20" staggered Ridler chrome wheels (20X8.5 front
and 20X11 rear) wrapped in brand new tires. The bed of the truck has been tubbed to accommodate the custom frame
work and larger tires, then was professionally rhino lined to produce a very clean look.
The interior was given a much different approach. Our goal with this truck was to give it an original patina
outside, however recreate the interior to a show quality fully restored level. We began with painting the inside of
the cab top to bottom with PPG red, and sealing it with high solids PPG gloss clear coat. The truck was then given
brand new factory style loop carpet, door panels, kick panels, dash pad, gauges, steering column, Lokar shifter,
mirrors, visors, and bench seat, finished in factory 71/72 C10 black and white hounds tooth fabric. Additionally,
the truck was given a complete brand new Old Air AC system, including vents, box, ducting, control panel, lines,
wiring, fittings, compressor, dryer and condenser. The AC blows ice cold and works fantastic. The interior is of
show quality and looks stunning against the aged patina exterior.
Drivetrain
The truck has a fresh 350 4 bolt main with a mild cam, dual flow master 40 series exhaust with custom Corvette
tips, Edelbrock performer intake, 650 CFM carb and chrome dress up kit. The motor has approximately 3,500 miles
since its rebuild, and is mated to a freshly rebuilt TH 350 automatic transmission. The truck has a custom built
one piece drive shaft, and is driven by a newly built Currie Ford 9 inch rear end. CPP master cylinder combined
with 4 wheel disc brakes stop this truck on a dime! The truck fires up effortlessly every time, runs, stops and
shifts very well and makes for great street or highway cruising. The truck is an absolute dream to drive.
Chassis & Suspension
The under chassis has been bridged, boxed and given a professional C Notch allowing the chassis and body to lay as
low as possible. This truck lays rockers and has a very mean and aggressive stance at any ride height. Firestone
bags, half inch lines and Viair valves gauges and control module make up the air ride system on the truck. The
under chassis has been extensively cleaned and painted, and shows extremely well. Custom braided lines, wiring,
newer ball joints, bushings and tie rods finish out the under chassis. This truck is tight, responsive and handles
extremely well.

2016 Chevrolet Spark gleams in green in New York
Fri, Apr 3 2015Take one look at the 2016 Chevrolet Spark that's debuting at the 2015 New York Auto Show, and you can immediately see that the little hatchback is growing up. The previous long headlights and tall greenhouse are gone in favor of a slightly more conventional look that suits the enlarged overall size well. To address complaints about a lack of power from the current Spark's 1.2-liter engine, the latest model gets a larger 1.4-liter unit making 98 horsepower. It can be paired with a five-speed manual transmission, but for those looking to maximize fuel economy, a CVT offers an estimated 40 miles per gallon highway fuel economy. Beyond the new engine, there's an upgraded platform underneath with a longer wheelbase. The underpinnings are also more rigid, as well, to help improve handling and lower interior noise. Inside, the Spark now gets some physical controls to go along with the seven-inch MyLink infotainment system. A rearview camera is standard, which seems almost unnecessary is such compact model, and buyers can further enhance safety with tech like a Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning and Side Blind Spot Alert. Check out the gallery above to see the Spark in its nuclear green paint at the New York show before the little hatch arrives at dealers in the fourth quarter of 2015.
2016 Chevy Camaro performance figures released
Mon, Sep 14 2015If you want to make a car faster, there are two sure-fire ways to get the job done – add power and/or reduce weight. Chevy has done both for the 2016 Camaro, putting as much as 455 horsepower into its muscle coupe and shaving a few hundred pounds from every trim. That range-topping power comes courtesy of a 6.2-liter V8 engine, and it's enough grunt to push an automatic-equipped Camaro SS to 60 miles per hour in just 4.0 seconds flat (4.3 seconds with a manual) and down the quarter mile in 12.3 seconds at 116 mph (12.5 at 115 for the stick). Not coincidentally, those acceleration specs, at least on paper, put the V8-powered Camaro SS just above the Mustang GT on the muscle-car pecking order. When the road gets twisty, Chevy claims the Camaro SS can generate as much as .97 g on the skidpad. And, thanks in part to its Goodyear Eagle F1 summer tires, the SS can stop from 60 in as little as 117 feet. We look forward to finding out how nimble the new Camaro feels when compared to its primary competitors.
Your browser does not support iframes.
Moving down one notch to the 335-hp 3.6-liter V6, properly equipped 2016 Camaro coupes can hit 60 in as few as 5.1 seconds and cover the quarter in 13.5 at 103. Perhaps even more intriguingly, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and its 275 horsepower (the only configuration quicker with a manual transmission, incidentally) can propel the Camaro to 60 in 5.4 seconds and through the 'ol 1320 in 14 seconds flat. That's seriously quick, but buyers comparing the Camaro to the Mustang will find that the EcoBoost 2.3-liter is a bit more powerful (310 hp and 320 lb-ft) and quicker (5.1 seconds to 60). Chevy is making lots of noise about the efforts its engineers went through to shed weight from the 2016 Camaro, going so far as to shave down suspension bolts so that no thread went unthreaded. The weight-saving obsession pays off – base Camaro models are down 390 pounds while the SS model drops 223 pounds over the 2015. The 2016 Camaro SS boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 8.1 lbs per pony, a 14-percent improvement over the last-gen. Even though weight is down, chassis stiffness is said to be up by 28 percent over the fifth-gen Camaro coupe. Also of note: The Camaro is now lighter than the Mustang across the board when comparing like-to-like configuration levels. The 2016 Chevy Camaro starts at $26,695 (including $995 for destination).
