This is a project vehicle that I am not going to get done so I need to get rid of it. It has been in dry storage for the past 15 years. I put the 6 cylinder back in it at the end of September and the engine started right up but the drive shaft is not hooked up so it cannot move under it's own power. The frame apparently got bent behind the steering box so the steering shaft is out of alignment to the steering box and that joint is now wired together. The front clip is from 1968 GMC. The parts are not rusted out  but the fender wells will need some minor patches, the doors are have some minor rust and there is some filler on the outside skin, the left side fender seems to be good but it does has some filler in it, the right side fender has some damage on the front lower where it is pushed in and there was liberal sculpting with filler but if the filler was removed maybe fixing those pieces won't be too bad. The frame has rust but once sandblasted it should clean up well. The trailering arms look to be in good shape.

The drive shaft is there but not hooked up, I have the 6 cylinder radiator also. Included with truck is all the parts shown in the photographs. I have an extra manual steering box, a diff. from a 1969 C10 with leaf springs, a setup for putting leaf springs on '67-'72 Chevy pickups, a limited slip differential from a 1971 or '72 GMC coil spring axle, a power steering unit from a 1971-1972 K5 Blazer. I have more to include but need to gather things up and I will take a picture of it an upload it. Included is a grill for a '67 Chevy but it has some rust thru in the corner. I am also including a couple of core supports. One is from a 1970 Chevy and the other is from a '67 GMC. Included are extra fenders, hoods, doors for that series of truck(67-72). You can take what you like from that pile and leave what you do not want.

It seems to be a parts or restore truck with a clear title. The truck is located east of Lacrosse WI. I have given an honest assessment of the truck. This sale is final with no returns. I have more pictures so if you need to see something more specific let me know. If there is any doubt about something ask before you bid.

Within 48 hours of the auctions end I require a $500 deposit. You can pay the whole thing off through Paypal or bring the balance with you in cash when you pick it up.

The buyer must arrange for pickup of the truck.

I will leave positive feedback when the buyer does the same for me.

Thanks for looking.

General Motors shaking up its marketing... again

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")

Corvette Stingray Shooting Brake under consideration by Callaway [w/poll]

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

Callaway has released a few renderings of a design study for a shooting brake version of the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The company says it wants to create a long-roof version of America's sports car to offer buyers more interior room and a vehicle with "unique style." The company says it will use structural carbon fiber for the new body bits, which suggests the conversion shouldn't add too much more weight to the Corvette. Along with a few mechanical tweaks, the Callaway Corvette Stingray AeroWagon could breeze past the 200 miles per hour barrier.
Provided that they get enough interest, Callaway estimates they will be able to effect the changes on the Chevrolet for around $15,000, and says the conversion work should be available through its network of dealers. You can check out the brief press release below for more information, or head over to the Callaway site to plunk down a deposit - but before you do, we want to know... do you find this C7 wagon interesting? Vote in our poll below, then feel free to leave a few lines in Comments.

Looking back at the Citation IV concept that likely shaped the GM EV1

Wed, Aug 20 2014

Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. We're not sure how that applies to the GM EV1, but we'd still like to share something from Autoline Daily, an online automotive new show with our friend John McElroy. He's been covering the business for decades now and recently found something interesting: pictures of the 1984 Chevrolet Citation IV concept, seen above. Displayed half a decade before the first electric concept that would become the EV1 (inset), McElroy says it's now clear that the elegant, aerodynamic EV1 took a lot of styling cues from the Citation IV, which was developed in part thanks to GM's new-at-the-time Aerodynamics Laboratory. We agree with him that the spats over the rear wheels, the flush glass, and the covered headlights all bear a certain kind of similarity between the two cars. That the colors almost match is a nice coincidence. The Impact (the concept version of the EV1) looked "frumpier," McElroy says, because it wasn't as long as the Citation. You can read a lot more about the Citation IV here and check out McElroy's thoughts in the video below. Find the Citation starting at around 3:45. This content is hosted by a third party.
