Milford, Michigan, United States
This is a fully cab off restored/modified 1966 Chevrolet C10 Custom. The truck has the following options: 250 I6 Chevrolet Engine that runs on unleaded fuel Automatic Transmission (TH350) Power Brakes (Factory) Power Steering (Factory) Air Conditioning (Factory) Tilt Steering Wheel AM-FM Radio Custom Cab Trim 3.73 Rear Axle Bed Side Step Inserts (Dealer Installed Option)
No bolt was left unturned in the process of restoration. This truck was completely torn down with the cab removed from the frame. The frame was media blasted and a frame coating sprayed on. All suspension parts were also blasted and painted with new ball joints, tie-rod ends, and springs installed. The motor and transmission were rebuilt with all new parts and the block was professionally machined. The power steering and power brake parts were all replaced with either new or rebuilt units. All the steel brake lines have been replaced with stainless steel lines. All flexible lines in both the brake system and power steering system have also been replaced. A new tilt steering column was installed to mate with the TH350 transmission and the power steering. The factory AC unit was setup with a rebuilt compressor, new evaporator, condenser, and custom made hoses. The hoses are the new style barrier hose material and the AC unit is charged with the new modern oil (PAG) and R134a refrigerant. All electrical wire was replaced with a brand new wiring harness with all wires color coded and labeled. Additional wiring is installed for adding additional options such as power windows or electric engine fans. All sheet metal was chemically dip stripped and all paint and rust removed. The cab and the bed of the truck was very clean and free of rust. The front fenders required repair in only a couple of small areas of both lower fenders behind the wheel well. New metal was seamed into the bad areas and are now impossible to detect from either the front or back side of the fenders. The cab had no heavy rust just dirt, grime and old sealer. The bottom floor area was re-primed, painted and resealed as the factory did it. All cab and door windows were replaced with all new seals/weatherstripping. The interior was completely restored with new seat coverings, full instrument gauge and speedometer restoration with speedometer recalibration. A new am-fm stereo custom fit aftermarket radio has also been installed. The complete floor is covered with sound deadener Dynamat material with new 80/20 carpet. Truck still has its factory jack and all hardware. All new chrome handles were installed both inside and out. The bed was basically rust free so it was just repainted and all new triple sealed oak bed boards were installed. The tailgate uses all new clamping hardware. The tail lights have new backing plates, bezels and lens. All new chrome including the front grill and both bumpers have been installed The aluminum side trim is also brand new. All body bolts in the entire truck have been replaced with stainless steel hardware. So many items were replaced that I can’t name them all. Basically, this truck is as good or better than it was when it came off the line in 1966. The vehicle has about 60 miles on it since restoration was completed. May 2016: FCA wins, Ford and GM stumble on weak car volumes
Wed, Jun 1 2016The May 2016 sales numbers are in, and it looks as though FCA is getting some vindication for boldly cancelling two slow-selling car models. Meanwhile, Ford saw overall sales dip and GM's May volume took a big dive versus the same month in 2015. While Marchionne's decision to axe the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart has drawn criticism as being short-sighted, it's working for FCA so far. Although the Dart and 200 aren't out of production yet and no capacity has been shifted to crossover or trucks, May's numbers show that the emphasis on Jeep and Ram models makes sense right now. FCA's US sales rose 1 percent last month compared to May 2015, putting the year-to-date total at 955,186 vehicles, an increase of 6 percent compared to the same period last year. Standouts included the Jeep Renegade, Compass, and Patriot, and the Fiat 500X. Ram pickup sales were down 3 percent. And your fun fact is that Alfa Romeo sales were up precisely 10 percent, for a total of 44 4Cs sold versus 40 in the same month last year. At FoMoCo, the Ford brand took a hit to the tune of 6.4 percent from May 2015 to 2016, registering 226,190 sales last month. Lincoln showed improvement on its modest numbers, going from 9,174 to 9,807, a 6.9 percent increase. Overall, Ford was down 5.9 percent for the month to 235,997; despite the slump, year-to-date total Ford sales are up 4.2 percent to 1,112,939. Strong sellers included Escape, Expedition, F-Series, and Transit - big stuff. Most small and/or efficient models (Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, C-Max) saw sales slides. Fusion sales were also down, likely due to effects of model changeover to the freshened 2017 model. Ford has promised four new crossovers and SUVs by 2020 and if things keep trending this way the company will be able to sell them, but things could change in the next four years. GM saw the worst of it for domestic brands. Retail and fleet sales were down for each of the four divisions, with the May 2016 total dropping 18 percent to 240,450 vehicles. GM's year-to-date sales are down 5.0 percent in 2016 to 1,183,705. Both the Sierra and Silverado were down significantly, and the majority of Chevy, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac nameplates saw sales decreases, with both small cars and larger utilities included. Not even big stuff could help GM this month, it seems. We'll have more on the rest of the industry's May sales as those figures trickle in.
2018 Ford Expedition vs other big SUVs: How it compares on paper
Fri, Nov 10 2017With our Alex Kierstein rightly impressed in his first-drive review of the new 2018 Ford Expedition, we decided to dig a little deeper into the numbers, and we came up with the spreadsheet below to highlight how the new 2018 Expedition compares on paper to its main full-size SUV competitors: the 2018 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban (and therefore the 2018 GMC Yukon), 2018 Toyota Sequoia and 2018 Nissan Armada. We also threw in the new, even bigger 2018 Chevrolet Traverse since, as you'll see, its massive dimensions should put it on the radar for anyone who needs loads of passenger and cargo space but doesn't care as much about towing. A few notes about the chart above. First, the 6.2-liter V8 that's included with the new-for-2018 Tahoe RST trim level is the standard engine on the GMC Yukon Denali. You can apply most of the Tahoe's numbers to the entire Yukon and Yukon XL lineup. Second, though we highlighted categories where the Traverse led, we also highlighted the runner-up full-size SUV, since this was ultimately about that segment. Traverse numbers are broadly applicable to the new Buick Enclave. A conversation with GM's Mark Reuss on MPG, aluminum and Corvettes
Wed, Feb 19 2014There was plenty to talk about when General Motors hosted its annual mid-December holiday media reception a few months ago. GM had just decided to pull its global Chevrolet brand out of major European markets, where Chevys have competed directly with GM Europe Opel and Vauxhall vehicles, and the US government had sold its last remaining shares of GM stock. But most important was the company's just-reshuffled leadership. Post-bankruptcy CEO Dan Akerson had announced that he would step aside and that 52-year-old Mary Barra would replace him on January 15. Not only would she be the first woman to lead a major automaker, she would also be GM's first engineer CEO since Bob Stempel in the early 1990s. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors" - Mark Reuss Replacing her as executive VP for global product development (and purchasing and supply chain) would be 49-year-old Mark Reuss, who had served a stellar four years as North American president, and elevated to corporate president (from executive VP and CFO) would be 42-year-old Dan Amman. All three are relatively young auto enthusiasts who are liked and respected inside and outside the company, and their collective talents and experience are highly complementary. I've interviewed Barra and found her smart, personable and knowledgeable, though she carefully walks the corporate line in speaking and answering questions. I met and chatted with Ammann for the first time at that holiday reception, and he made a good first impression. But I've known Reuss for some time as a genuinely good guy and a highly capable and inspiring leader, and I believe he is exactly the right person for the global product responsibility once famously held by the outspoken, oft-controversial Bob Lutz. So I jumped at an opportunity to join a group interview of Reuss (with mostly business reporters) at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It was an interesting session of mostly good questions, which he answered with refreshing candor and humor. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors," Reuss said. "We've taken down almost every plant in North America, converted and turned it this last year, and to do that with award-winning vehicles and pretty flawless launches is key. We have to keep the train rolling on great product, because the rest won't happen without the best product, period." A reporter asked whether GM was pushing big trucks, SUVs and Corvettes again because gas is cheap. "No," Reuss said.
