You are bidding on a 1966 Chevrolet C-10 Fleetside Short Bed Pickup with the highly desirable big back window. This truck starts, runs & drives just fine. This truck has a 250cid L6 motor and a 3 speed manual on the floor.

The body on this truck is in fine shape for it's age. Only one rust spot on the drivers side fender. I included a picture. Both cab corners and all body mounts are in excellent condition. No issues there. Cab floor is also in excellent shape. No rust, no rot. I included some pictures of these areas.

I have replaced or upgraded the following on this truck:

  • 2" drop Mcgaughty front spindles
  • 2" lowering kit in the rear
  • Brand new front disc brake conversion using 11-1/2" truck rotors  with 5 on 5 lug pattern
  • New rear axles to convert from 6 to a 5 on 5 lug pattern w/new axle seals and fluid change.
  • New rear shoes and hardware
  • New dual resevoir Master Cylinder and Proportioning valve
  • New brakes lines to the rear
  • New fuel system including tank, sending unit, fuel pump, inline filter and newer Carburator
  • Complete new wiring harness including modern fuse block from American Autowire. This wire kit was for this truck, not a generic kit. Kit inlcuded all new switches and light sockets
  • New battery, starter, & alternator
  • Complete new gauge cluster and sending unit
  • Reupholstered bench seat
  • New Hurst shifter
  • New American Racing Torq Thrust Wheels & brand new tires
  • Complete engine tune-up and all fluids changed

This truck was repainted around 2007. Not professionally done, but still looks pretty good. Kinda has that "old school" look to it. (please see photos)

The body on this truck is very solid, only one rust area as mentioned on the driver side fender. (see photo)

No cracks in any of the glass. Everything works as you would expect for a 1966 vehicle. The only issues I found were the wiper motor and the gas gauge. The wiper motor does not appear to work and the gas gauge reads full all the time due to a mismatch in Ohm resistance between the gauge and the sending unit. The gauge company can fix this if the gauge and sending unit are sent to them. I didn't worry about it as i was able to track gas usage by mileage. This truck gets a solid 16-18mpg.

This truck is a great ride and gets a lot of attention on the road and at car shows. It would make a perfect shop truck or a good start to a full restoration

This vehicle is for sale locally and the seller reserves the right to end the listing at any time.

The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land

Thu, Oct 15 2015

Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top. Recharge Wrap-up: EVs poll well in Portland, Tesla seeks office space

Tue, Aug 5 2014

In a poll of drivers in Portland, more than 80 percent said they would be driving an EV in the next 10 years if they weren't already. The poll was small and not scientific, with just 218 votes cast, but it does reflect a slice of a certain population with changing attitudes toward electric mobility, and 80 percent is an impressive figure. Additionally, 43 percent of respondents planned to have an EV in the next five years, and only 18 percent said they prefer gasoline-powered vehicles. With EVs in many ways repeating the adoption process that hybrids went through a decade ago, the five- or ten-year timeframe for more widespread use seems only natural. Read more at the Portland Business Journal. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee parks like an idiot, or rather, his security detail does. His Chevrolet Volt has been ticketed for parking six times since he took office. Granted, those street-sweeping signs are tough to keep track of, but his car has been photographed blocking at a bus stop while grabbing a burrito (who hasn't sinned in the name of a delicious burrito?), and was even caught parked in a crosswalk. The tickets were all dismissed. Read more from the SF Gate. Tesla is looking for office space in Silicon Valley. As the electric car company continues to search for a place to build its $4- to $5-billion battery Gigafactory, it also needs some real estate to expand its operations near its Palo Alto home. Tesla has expanded from 3,000 to 6,000 California-based employees since the end of 2012, and plans to add 500 more by the end of the year. It is currently looking for 200,000 to 300,000 square feet of office space close to its Fremont factory, according to sources in the real estate industry. 2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel arrives with 42 mpg for $25,695*

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

The last time General Motors had a diesel passenger car in the US, it was the 1.8-liter 1986 Chevette. At the 2013 Chicago Auto Show today, GM is unveiling the much-anticipated 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel. The compact bows with a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine that boasts 148 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, with full twist coming on at just 2,000 rpm. What's more, the common-rail, direct-injection diesel features an overboost function that allows the engine to deliver up to 280 lb-ft of torque for 10 seconds at a time. Even with 10 more horsepower and 110 more pound-feet of torque than the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder in the Cruze, the 2.0-liter diesel engine can return up to 42 mpg (highway) bolted to its six-speed automatic transmission.
If you're counting, that figure meets the less powerful Cruze Eco with a six-speed manual transmission. More importantly, the auto transmission Cruze Diesel matches its main competition, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI, in highway fuel economy. The Cruze 2.0 TD (as it will be badged) can also handle up to 20 percent biodiesel (B20), whereas the Jetta is rated only for B5. General Motors has not released city fuel economy for its newest diesel, but we do know how much it will cost you to jump behind the driver's seat.
GM will kindly ask for $25,695, plus an $810 destination fee. That marks a $2,115 premium over a loaded Cruze LTZ Auto and $2,640 more than the Jetta TDI, though the MSRP will net you a leather interior, 17-inch alloy wheels and an Aero Performance Package, as well as a two-year maintenance plan and five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Compared to the gas-powered Cruze, you also lose a couple cubic feet of rear cargo space thanks to a 17-liter diesel emission fluid tank. That urea fluid, which helps put the clean in clean diesel, will need to be refilled at least every 10,000 miles.
