Personal driver of an Internationally known Restoration shop in Dallas/Fort worth area open since 1990.
*** Please view all the photos and read the entire description to appriciate what a truly spectacular truck this is*****************
I can e mail vidio's of the truck running, performing, several walk arounds,etc...
History : This truck is the personal weekend driver of one of the owners of Advantage Autoworks In North Richland Hills Texas (Fort Worth). Advantage Autoworks sits on a 3 acre facility in North Texas and has made quite a name for themselves over the last 23 years specializing in mostly Chevrolet, ford ,and some exotics here and there. They employ a staff of 18 people and usually have a 6 to 8 month wait just to get a car in for restoration. Go to advantageautoworks.com to see what type of facility this truck origanated from. The truck it self had about 135 thousand origanal miles on it , seemed to be a very rust free survivor type truck that hadent been around the block too many times. At some point in time had a small block chevy installed (327 ) from a 67 camaro 210 hp based on the numbers. That was a good choice for the time , but had to go for this truck.
Restoration: This truck was completely dissasembled down to just the bare cab and frame, then stripped to bare metal, followed up by sand blasting the cab to top to bottom to kill any corrosion from days past. The body and all pieces were then epoxy primed after any metal work was done to give the truck a good level of corrosion protection. All the body panels were then body worked, primed, blocked, re primed to a very above average high level plat form for the urethane base coat clear coat paint to follow. I would not say this truck is flawless by any means or the straightest truck on the planet, but has a well above average paint and body finish out. My objective was to make the appearance nice enough to show, but I never intended this to be a 200 thousand dollar trailer queeen build, but something I was not afraid to drive.
Drive Train: The truck is powered by a small block chevy engine that was completly gone through and updated with vortec style cylinder heads and eddlebrock vortec style aluminum intake manifold, all high quality internals, high compression pistons (runs great on 03 octane pump gas), gear drive timeing chain, aluminum time chain cover, aluminum high flow water pump, billit pullys, aftermarket performace balancer, aluminum retro style finned valve covers, holley 780 cfm carb, roller rockers, high volumn performance fuel pump, mallery quart style fuel filter, etc.... the list goes on. I never had the engine dyno'd , but feel it makes in the 400 plus range. I wanted to build the truck with enough power to make it fun, but fully driveable and reliable. See the vidio to hear it run , and did a litlle burn out for a block or so to show what fun it can be.Transmission: 700r4 overdrive with performance stall converter, backup up by a 12 bolt posi traction rear end with 373 gears. With the overdrive trans, this gives you great off the line performance , but still allows you to drive 75 down the freeway while monitoring the oem in dash factory tachomitor. Exhaust system: Hooker super competition ceramic headlers backed up by 2.5 inch ceramic coated complete exhaust with flow master mufflers to give this truck an extrodiany nasty sound backed up with a cam to make beatiful music. It has no annoying tone when driving, not too load under normal driving , but sings when you put the pedal to the metal.
suspension/brakes: The truck achived such a ride quality by the following. 1st , the frame was completly dissasembled , sand blasted , then the center section was boxed and reinforced to stiffen up in all the right places, we welding in the new trans crossmmember to accomodate the updated over drive trans, then sent it to the powdercoater to be coated in semi gloss for durability and looks. All the other suspension parts were powedercoated also at the same time. We replace the the rear lower trailing arms with updated reinforced performance onces, install a set of dropp spindles, lowering springs on all 4 corners, kyb gas performance shocks, along with front and rear sway bars to give the truck a ride like no other. The truck has a stance the looks great , but not slammed to the ground . The front brake system is 5 lug disk that would have been on most of the late 70s into the 80s half tone trucks, with a chrome master cylender, booster, updated proportioning valve,et.... The back brakes are truck drums that work great, all rebuilt, new park brake cables etc...
Interior/comforts: The interior was gutted down to nothing, cab painted to high gloss black ,then completly dynamated fire wall ,floors, etc.., then a factroy style firewall pad was installed, followed up with complete oem style new underdash harness , and all new wireing from front to back. The modest sterio system was then installed with an orion 4 channnell amp that powers the front and rear speakes that fill the cab with an awesome sound thats not over the top .The kenwood am/fm cd player is equiped with an auxilliary input for i phones, ipods, etc.... Factory Gauge truck(not base warning lamps) were all tested, repaired, or replaced to ensure reliablility at the time of restoration. Everything inside the truck was cleaned, plated, painted , or replaced along the way. Weather stips, door felts, etc.. all new, glove box liner new, visors, carpet, etc...all new . vintage air/heat was installed to give you all seasons of comfort while driveing, chrome plated ac compressor (not polished ) , works great.,updated aluminum dash control knobs on ac,not cheap plastic like most others.Leather custom seat with custom fit seat brackets , center console folds up for 3 person seating , while it folds down for arm rest, drink storage , and has 2 storage compartments, one below the seat bottom in the center, and one in the flip up arm rest. All 3 sections slide forward ,back, and recline for the optimum flexability. Retractable seat belts also keep things neat and tidey along with the saftey . I have a 10 year old daughter that means the world to me , so I made sure we could stap her in for the fun times we spend in the truck.
Bed/Exterior Trim:The bed was completely dissasembled, sand blasted , and then restored inside and out with a show finish on the inside as well as the outside. Even the interior bed wheel wells have been buffed. The bed wood was hand scraped By Mikes hardwood flooring prior to an automotive grade clear being applied in multiple coats, sanded, then re cleared to achieve the finish . Bed strips were replaced with polished stainless, and all stainless hardware. A Few subltle touches were made on the bed by deleteing the stake pocket holes, deleteing the tail gate latches, and being replace by a high strength stap for holding the gate. Could not bring myselt to seeing those chains dangling and sctratching the show finisn.
ALL CHROME/ALUMINUM TRIM NEW: All trim items such as bumpers, grill, all exterior body side moldings were replaced ,or replated ,along with all the bumper brackets being sand blasted and powerdercoated duiring the restoration. New windshield , back glass , but side glasses are origanal with some signs of wear, but still respectable.
Wheels/tires: Rims are new gm 15x8 painted urethane gloss black , with Bfg radial ta tires , dressed out with wheel vintiques ribbed rings, and bow tie center caps. Some people like the steely wheel look, if you dont , totally change the appearance with a set of magnesium center salt flats, or any kind of aluminum custom wheels, of possibly just chande the center caps to the spyder bullets. I have thought about all these options down the road or just enjoy as is.
Summarry: Is this truck perfect, no its not.It is extremely nice for the money i am asking if your in the market for something you can drive, show, or just own and dont want to be in the 60 to 100 plus category that you can easily do. I do it for a living , you could easily spend 50 plus on a truck you already own in restoration cost, or let me take the bath , but I have enjoyed it for the past 3 years, put about 5 thousand miles on it without a glitch, and nothing in life is free. I am not going to fire sale the truck, just have too many cars right now, and have decided to keep my super rare ,super valuable ones due to storage restraints. Also will be selling a 51 chevy rat/farm ride high end build, classic triumph motorcye, 54 packard caribean convertable, etc....in the near future as i have time to list them.Call with any questions. 817-773-1852 ask for chris.

Recharge Wrap-up: EV torque secrets, UC Davis maps future of biofuels
Fri, Jul 25 2014A UC Davis white paper maps out "Three Routes Forward for Biofuels," balancing investment risk with carbon benefits. The first option is "incremental," in which we tinker with the existing biofuel manufacturing infrastructure for small improvements over time. The "transitional" plan suggests integrating cellulosic production and other innovations with existing operations. The third route, called "leapfrogging," would mean building refineries based on new technology such as cellulosic and algae-based biofuels. The paper suggests ways the US could use these three routes together in different areas, and predicts the payoffs in terms of carbon emissions could be significant if the right people are willing to risk the capital. After all, financial advisers are always telling investors to diversify their portfolios to manage risk and rewards in the same way. Read more over at the UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies. The Formula E Long Beach ePrix will offer free admission. The seventh round of the inaugural all-electric race season, which was moved from Los Angeles to the streets of Long Beach, will offer fans free grandstand and general admission. The race, which takes place on April 5, 2015, will use a 1.6-mile portion of IndyCar's Grand Prix of Long Beach. Read more at LA Times. Polaris is now offering its 2015 GEM electric vehicles, including the new street-legal eM1400 LSV. The passenger and utility vehicles come in two- to six-passenger configurations, many of which are street legal on roads with posted speed limits of up to 35 miles per hour. The eM1400 LSV utility vehicle seats two, offers 1,250 pounds of payload, 1,250 pounds of towing capacity, a top speed of 25 mph and a range of up to 45 miles. Its on-board charger plugs into any standard 110-volt outlet. Read more at Hybrid Cars and check out all the different configurations yourself at the Polaris website. In EVs, more torque does not always equal faster. Green Car Reports found this out when driving the Fiat 500e (with 147 pound-feet) against the similarly weighted Chevrolet Spark EV (with 400 pound-feet). The secret is, at least in part, in the gearing. The Fiat has a 9.6:1 reduction gear, making it quicker at lower speeds despite having far less available torque, while the Chevy uses a 3:1 ratio. The trade-off though, is in top speed. Furthermore, Chevy electronically limits the torque delivery at low speeds, as 400 pound-feet is a lot of launch for the little Spark EV to handle.
Dodge vs. Chevy tug-of-war taken to the extreme
Mon, 17 Dec 2012They say "idle hands are the devil's playground," but said playgrounds grow to Disney-sized proportions when a pair of jacked-up trucks, two egos, a chain and an empty mall parking lot are involved. Proof of this is the video below, which shows a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram circa 2006 to 2008 chained tail-to-tail with what looks to be a gasoline-powered Chevrolet Silverado from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
We don't necessarily have to tell you who wins this battle, but we'll let you see for yourself the lengths the "winning" driver goes to prove his point. There's plenty of foul language in the video below, so beware that this might be Not Safe For Work, and not that we should have to tell you, but please, do not try this at home.
Next Chevy Silverado could get this built-in tailgate step
Thu, Feb 2 2017General Motors just received patent approval for a tailgate step in a pickup bed. And given the timing, don't be surprised if you see this on the upcoming 2019 Silverado pickup (not the mention its GMC Sierra twin), expected to arrive in late 2018. According to the patent, granted in December of last year, the whole mechanism is housed in the tailgate assemble. The magic happens when a portion of the top half of the tailgate swings down and a step folds out. There's also a handle that locks into position to help climb up into the bed. As trucks get bigger and taller over the years, it gets harder and harder to access the cargo bed. Ford's solution with the 2009 F-150 was a step that slides out from the end of the tailgate. Back then, Chevy made an ill-advised ad highlighting the feature for Ford. And while Howie Long mocked the F-150's "man step" Ford saw almost a third of its trucks with the option in the first year. The GM design seems to improve on Ford's idea as it appears to be wider and has a back to the lower step. That is, you don't have to worry about stepping through the ladder-rung design as on the F-150. Ford's tailgate step later spread to the F Super Duty, and other cargo access assists have proliferated through the truck world. On the most recent redesign, the Chevrolet Silverado took a trick from the Avalanche and added cutouts to the corners of the rear bumper that act as a foothold. Ford also offers a deployable side step, Chevrolet has running boards that scoot rearward with a kick of the boot, and Ram offers fixed wheel-to-wheel side rails. Nissan is in on the game too, with an optional folding step that tucks under the rear bumper. We don't expect Chevrolet to comment on when or if we'll see this feature in the showrooms. But given that engineers are already hard at work on the next Silverado and the timing of this patent lines right up with the new truck's development cycle, we'll be disappointed if this patent stays in the file cabinet.
