For sale is a 1964 Chevy C-10 short bed pickup truck. The truck runs great with a recently rebuilt small block 350 with about 400 miles on it. 3-speed on the floor. Tons of new parts! Lowered about 4 inches all around on new shocks and lowering springs. New drum brakes all around with new drums, pads, pistons and brake lines. New wiring harness, Thrush (cherry bomb) exhaust with new pipes and stainless outlets, Brand new coker white wall tires with Cragar smoothie chrome wheels. Recently painted flat hot rod black. New chrome accents all around including front and rear bumper, grill, headlight, tail light and front blinker bezels and new plastic. New head lights. New tailgate chains, Interior has a brand new steering wheel, ididit steering column, and Dolphin brand instrument cluster. New gas tank, cap, carpet and dome light. All new door weather stripping, new window felts and weather stripping. New chrome interior door and window handles with red painted door panels and new armrests. New rearview mirror and sun visors. Brand new seat belts installed with pull through plates installed. Many other new parts underneath including front end bushings, steering box, rods etc. Original Saginaw transmission. This truck is ready to go for the summer! Not a show truck by any means. The body could use work but that wasn't the goal for this truck. Only a few remaining things on the to-do list. Heater needs routing ducts if you plan on winter driving. Needs a radio if you want tunes. Also, the windshield washers need to be wired up. (has the motor) These were not on my list, due to only summer driving.

Note to buyer. This is not a show truck by any means. I would consider the body to be more rat rod. The body is painted flat black for a reason and the truck has bondo and patches from the previous owner. Looks good, but will need plenty of work or a completely new cab  if you are going for a nice glossy paint job. The truck doesn't have any exterior rust but is not perfect either. The floor and rocker panels has had patches done to them and some foam sealer has been used in places to seal off from the exterior elements (mother nature). Some of the underbody has rust and could use some more work done for support. The truck is wired right now with a kill switch for security. The engine does leak a minimal amount of oil. (probably a pan gasket?) The interior needs works if you plan on having heat, a radio, and wind shield wipers. Don't get me wrong this truck looks cool as hell and drives great down the road but I want to put everything out there so there are no surprises. Please don't hesitate to ask questions before purchasing.

"Turbo" Chevrolet Camaro is a 700-HP fantasy car come to life [w/video]

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

For a concept car built to promote an animated movie about a snail that wants to go racing, this thing ain't half bad. The outsized monster you see before you started life as a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and then went through a big-time Hollywood makeover before being positioned on the Chevrolet stand here in Chicago.
This 2013 "Turbo" Camaro Coupe is getting the promotion machine ratcheted up for a new DreamWorks tale by the name of, you guessed it, Turbo. Coming this summer, the movie will follow one snail's quest to become a race driver worthy of making the cut at the Indy 500. Like many DreamWorks vehicles before it, we're guessing that the petrolhead snail will star in a movie that adults (especially racing fans) with have no trouble watching with their kids. Check out the trailer below to see if you agree.
As for the car, we're told that it is "instrumental" in transforming Turbo from snail into racer. Helping the beastly pony car in this mighty task, is an ankle-cracking front splitter matched by a ungodly huge rear wing out back, a COPO hood and a supercharged (yes, supercharged) V8 engine making more than 700 horsepower. 24-inch wheels all the way around - 10-inches wide in front and 15-inches wide in back - should allow the "Turbo" Camaro to hook up with ease, as well.

GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.

Burt Reynolds' vehicles up for auction at Barrett-Jackson

Tue, Sep 25 2018

Burt Reynolds' influence on car culture cannot be overstated. Be it "Smokey and the Bandit" or "Cannonball Run," his films inspired a generation of car enthusiasts. He died a few weeks back from cardiac arrest at age 82. This weekend, four vehicles from Reynolds' personal collection — three Pontiacs and a Chevy — will go up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas. It seems Reynolds had plans to sell the cars before he passed. He even filmed a short teaser for the auction and planned to attend the event himself. Three of the cars are Pontiac Trans Ams. Two are re-creations of the cars he drove in "Bandit" and the film "Hooper." Both are 1978 models. The third Trans Am is from 1984 and was used to promote Reynolds' USFL team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth vehicle is a 1978 Chevy R30 pickup truck. It's styled like the truck he drove in "Cannonball Run." None of the vehicles were actually used in the movies. But they were registered in his name, making them far more legitimate than some other movie-inspired clones. It's unclear how many Bandit Trans Ams Reynolds has owned over the years. Another car connected to him sold for $450,000 back in 2014. His death is sure to drive the price of these new cars even higher.
