Here we have a very rare and original "untouched" 1963 Chevrolet C-10 truck. This is a stepside model with 54,534 original miles on it. The engine is a 230 High Torque six cylinder with a "3 on the tree" manual transmission and column shift. It's a really fun truck to drive and runs great!  I recently replaced the heater core, thermostat and fuel pump. I also added lap belts. In 2005 I had the steering column rebuilt.

Some important features that make this truck extra special are the fact that it only has one side mirror, one sun visor and no rear view mirror. They are not missing, they were never ordered in the truck in the first place. There are no drilled holes where these parts would normally go either! This is about as bare bones as they come. The original owner must have felt like those things were just too fancy for him (or her). it also has the original radio delete plate on the dash. You will have to find a new clip for it or use some double sides tape to keep in on.

Other features include white bumpers, white grill, small rear window, and (nylon bias ply tires Including spare) on original 15" steel wheels. The tires are Silvertown 6.70 reproductions with a lot of tread life still on them. This thing looks straight off the farm or moonshine distillery.

The paint is all original but the guy I bought it from back on 2005 said that he had heard the owner before him had painted the doors from just below the round part because it used to have a sign painted on it from the original owner. You can't tell though as it all looks original. The paint is very shiny still but there are a few spots where it is wearing thin and some dull spots. There are a few small dings in the hood, back fenders and one near the rear window. These are very minor though.

There is no rust, rot or replaced panels of any kind on this truck. The wood on the back is very nice still. The tailgate is in great shape too with minimal wear on the edge. Please see photos.

I bought his truck on ebay back in 2005. At the time, it had just over 50,000 miles on it. I barely drove this truck as you can see by the miles on it now. I hate to sell it but I know somebody will really drive it and appreciate it.
This would be a very nice truck for driving around town or hauling your gardening supplies. It would also be a great truck for any Twilight fans out there because it looks very similar to Bella's truck. You could paint it red and let your daughter or wife drive it. it would also be great start for a custom or super nice truck with a big engine because the body is so straight and rust free.

It runs really nice. The only thing it needs is a new tail pipe from just past the muffler. I think the steering column linkage could use a little greasin' too to help the shifter move a little more easily. I would also think about tightening up the exhaust manifold. These things are very minor though.

Please message me with any questions you might have.

Good luck and thank you for looking at my auction.

GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.

CNG-powered Chevy Sonic, Cruze headed your way

Fri, Nov 7 2014

The value proposition for a Crazy Diamond Performance CNG ride was a little bit better before gas prices took a dive in the past month. Still, the Michigan-based company, which converts some of Chevrolet's compact vehicles to run on compressed natural gas, received approval late last month from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for two of its conversion models. And CNG is still pretty cheap. Crazy Diamond will start selling CNG versions of both the Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Sonic. The startup will target fleet operators looking to cut both refueling costs and their carbon footprint. CNG can be found in much of the country in the low $2 range, while the average CO2 emissions are about 25 percent less than those of similar gas-powered vehicles. Average gas prices have tumbled by more than 30 cents a gallon in the last month, according to AAA, but they're still at close to $3. The two models will be able to go almost 300 miles on a full tank of CNG. Crazy Diamond said this summer that it would start selling converted a CNG-powered Cruze that delivers 130 horsepower for as low as $26,000. The turbocharged version goes for about $28,000. Take a look at Crazy Diamond Performance's celebratory press release below. Crazy Diamond Performance recieves EPA approval on its CNG Cruze and Sonic CDP receives EPA approval for its Mono-Fuel CNG Cruze and Sonic. Shelby Township, Michigan, October 30, 2014– Crazy Diamond Performance (CDP) receives EPA approval on its Mono-Fuel Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Sonic. Crazy Diamond Performance has received EPA approval on two new mono-fuel small passenger vehicles, the CNG Chevrolet Cruze and CNG Chevrolet Sonic. These new mono-fuel CNG platforms are the first of a series of small and fuel efficient vehicles coming from CDP, where cost, low emissions and reduced fuel consumption is important for not only fleet owners, but to the general public as well. "Soon to be available, are the 1.8L and 1.4L Cruze and Sonic CNG retrofit systems. These two vehicles represent a change in the status quo, with an OEM level integration of the fuel system and its components" states Michelle Fern, Executive Vice President CDP Inc. These vehicles provide flexibility for fleets looking to purchase a domestic small mono-fuel passenger sedan, but have not had an option until now. There are significant emissions benefits over its gasoline counterpart, with an average reduction in Carbon Dioxide (CO2) of 25%.

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Chevrolet Turbo Sprint

Sun, Feb 6 2022

Fifteen years ago, I wrote my first-ever automotive article under the name Murilee Martin, and it didn't take me long to start writing about one of my favorite automotive subjects: the junkyard. Before I'd refined my system for documenting discarded vehicles, however, I shot a lot of boneyard photos that never got used. For today's Junkyard Gem, I have four shots from early 2007 of one of the rarest turbocharged machines of the 1980s: the Chevrolet Turbo Sprint. The Chevrolet Sprint was really a rebadged Suzuki Cultus, from the pre-Geo era when General Motors sold the Isuzu Gemini as the Chevrolet Spectrum, the Daewoo LeMans as the Pontiac LeMans and the Toyota Corolla as the Chevrolet Nova (soon enough, the Spectrum became a Geo, and the Nova became the Prizm). The second-generation Cultus appeared in 1988, becoming the Geo Metro on our shores the following year. The Turbo Sprint was available for just the last two years of the Sprint's 1985-1988 American sales run, and it appears that just a couple of thousand were sold; if I'd known at the time just how rare they were, I'd have shot more photos of this one at the now-defunct Hayward Pick Your Part. The turbocharged 993cc three-cylinder produced 70 horsepower, 22 better than the naturally-aspirated version. Since the Turbo Sprint weighed just 1,620 pounds (that's about 500 pounds lighter than a barely more powerful '22 Mitsusbishi Mirage), it was plenty of fun to drive. For 1988, the regular Sprint hatchback cost $6,380 while the Turbo Sprint listed at $8,240 (that's about $15,375 and $19,855 today, respectively). Believe it or not, a Turbo Sprint actually raced in the 24 Hours of Lemons 10 years ago, though it didn't end well. This ad is for the regular Cultus, not the Cultus Turbo, but the screaming guitars sound reasonably turbocharged. For the most part, Chevy Sprint marketing was all about cheap purchase price and stingy fuel economy… at a time when gasoline prices were cratering. Related Video:
