Old trucks are hot now......older trucks are being restored and modernized, and selling for big money.  Well this isn't an old Apache but the last year for the C10 and a 76,900 original mile truck with some documentation including original protecto plate, owners manual and some service receipts helping to document the mileage.  On 6/9/12 the second owner sold the truck who owned since 8/12/77 and signed 76,710 and 1/10th as original miles!!!  I am the 4th owner and bought on a whim on a drive by.... Truck showed well and I bought it with intentions of some fine tuning, of which I did two of the 3 items.  I have a new matching dash pad included and 4 brand new tires. I had planned on having the bed coated with line-x but after more thought, I am offering for sale, as I just won't use this much as I have 2 newer trucks, and multiple other vehicles.

This is a pretty basic truck with factory 350 V* power steering, automatic and few other options which you will see listed on the option tag found in glove box. The interior is original and truck even has it's original AM radio. I was told the 2nd owner kept a camper in the back and used for that purpose, thus the low mileage. bed shows well.  Yes, there has been some paint work during it's 40+ year life. It appears the rockers have had new panels put in, but floor and frame appear very solid.  Motor is nice and quiet and you can steer this truck with your pinky finger it is so easy to turn. New heater core installed just before my purchase by 3rd. owner.

With the new tires (replaced bias whitewalls) I would think you could drive this home from Grand Rapids, Mi.  Truck is it's original colors. Truck is of course sold as is, and payment is as follows:   $500 paypal at time of you winning the auction and balance due within 3 days via wire transfer, certified check or cash only if picking up within those 3 days.

I have placed a BUY IT NOW   for that person who doesn't want to risk loosing this truck and can follow my payment terms.   The reserve is less than the Buy It Now and will be known when met.  If you have (3) or less feedback you MUST message me first to tell me your intentions to follow thru with payment, or I will cancel your bid.  This auction is for serious bidders.   Thank You

*******In the event the BUY IT NOW isn't used, you may want to sign up for one of the auction bidding services that can bid for you during the final seconds of the auction.****

Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war

Sun, 30 Dec 2012

A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?

Burt Reynolds' movie re-creations fetch $379,500 in Vegas

Wed, Oct 3 2018

The recent death of Hollywood legend and automotive enthusiast Burt Reynolds helped drive up the value of four of his former cars from the 1970s and '80s, which sold last weekend at Barrett-Jackson's Las Vegas auction for a combined $379,500. Reynolds, who died Sept. 6 at age 82, had offered three Pontiac Trans Ams — two of them re-creations of the cars he drove in "Smokey and the Bandit" and "Hooper" and the third from 1984 used to promote his United States Football League team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth was a 1978 Chevrolet R30 pickup truck, styled like the one featured in "Cannonball Run." The "Bandit" re-creation, a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am that Reynolds ordered to be as "movie-correct" as possible but featuring a custom-built 200-4R automatic transmission, sold for $192,500. The car features a freshly built Pontiac 400 cubic-inch V8 mated to a four-speed automatic and featuring all-new Butler Performance parts and air-conditioning components. Reynolds reportedly said this was his favorite car from his films, and it even came with an authentic movie-correct CB radio and CB antenna. The red retro-rocket "Hooper" '78 Firebird, with a 403 cubic-inch V8 and a three-speed automatic, hammered for $88,000. By comparison, a gold 1978 Trans Am also offered at the Las Vegas auction but not connected to Reynolds fetched $27,500. The 1987 Chevy R30 pickup was a re-creation of the Indy Hauler pace truck seen jumping over a moving freight train in "Cannonball Run." It hammered for $49,500. The fourth car never appeared in any of Reynolds' films but is instead the only surviving example of two Trans Ams used to promote the Tampa Bay Bandits of the now-defunct USFL, having been driven out onto the field by Reynolds and his late friend and co-star, Jerry Reed, during opening day one season. It also sold for $49,500. At the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in 2016, Reynolds accompanied a 1977 Trans Am used to promote "Bandit" onto the auction block. That car sold for $550,000.
