Purchased new by its current owner, this pristine ZR-2 Blazer has, over the past dozen years, accumulated only 2700 miles (yes, that"s right…2700). It is pristine inside and out and underneath; it is exactly as it was when it arrived at the selling dealer. Exercised regularly, this ZR-2 has never seen rain or snow and the sparkling factory Onyx Black paint shows the effects of frequent detailing and waxing; the Graphite cloth interior is spotless as well. During the “non-driving” time, the ZR-2 is, of course, garaged and has a battery tender on it at all times. It has a current state registration and its mechanical and emission inspections are up-to-date. The engine compartment is a virtual time capsule with everything just as clean as when the SUV rolled off the assembly line (right down to the original parts and service specifications decals and assembly line paint dabs). It runs as it did the day it was built, no surprise given its original plugs, hoses, ignition wires and air filter (the oil has been changed at regular time intervals and the battery has been replaced). The factory tires have nearly full tread life remaining as well as razor-sharp tread edges (remember, only 2700 miles) and the spare, also mounted on a styled aluminum wheel like the other four road wheels, has never touched the ground. This Blazer is heavily optioned, the list totaling nearly $7000: ZR-2 package (itself a $2000 option) which includes underbody protective skid plates, wide fiberglass fender flares that cover the 31” Goodrich on-off road tires and relocated suspension pick up points (and a wider rear axle) that increase the track of the Blazer Four-speed automatic overdrive transmission Locking rear differential “Autotrac” electronic four-wheel drive system that, when placed in the “auto” mode, delivers four-wheel drive performance and safety when slippery road conditions warrant (the Blazer can also be placed in full-time 2WD or full-time 4WD high/low ranges as well) Factory-installed power sunroof (with sliding sunshade) that can be fully opened, fully closed, tipped up for cockpit ventilation, or can be opened to any degree desired Externally-mounted spare tire (a mandatory option on all ZR-2 Blazers) Fog lights Delco “Theftlock” Stereo AM/FM/CD player Air conditioning Cruise control and tilt wheel Overhead console with map lights, outside temperature and compass display Center console Remote keyless entry Power windows and door locks Six-way power driver's seat Deep tinted rear windows Heated outside mirrors Rear window defroster and wiper Leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob This is a genuine factory ZR-2 Blazer and is not an aftermarket project truck. But just when it seems that it can"t get any better, it does: also included is a complete set of documentation which includes owner's manual, original window sticker, dealer order form, dealer search form, assembly line build sheet and a mint 2002 Blazer sales brochure. The outstanding condition of this time capsule ZR-2 coupled with an extensive factory option list and factory documentation adds up to a rare, super-desirable SUV…a true once in a lifetime find. 2016 Green Truck of the Year, Commercial Green Car of the Year finalists
Sat, Oct 24 2015Not only are commercial-grade haulers getting more green love lately, they're getting more different kinds of green love. The 2016 Green Truck of the Year, the second time the award has been handed out, is being decided by judges from Green Car Journal and the San Antonio Auto & Truck Show. This year the award is joined by the new 2016 Commercial Green Car of the Year, which crowns one of the little vans increasingly used by small business as cargo and delivery vehicles. The Green Truck of the Year finalists are the Chevrolet Colorado Duramax (pictured), Ford F-150, GMC Canyon Duramax, Nissan Titan XD, and Toyota Tacoma. The first three of those were on last year's list, but since they are completely new or upgraded for 2016 - Ford with its all-aluminum body, the General Motors twins with the new diesel Duramax engine - they qualify for entry again. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel won last year. The Commercial Green Car finalists are the Chevrolet City Express, Ford Transit Connect, Mercedes-Benz Metris, Nissan NV200, and Ram ProMaster City. C7 Corvette turbo with 1,000 horsepower promised from Hennessey
Mon, 25 Feb 2013If you can't wait for the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Hennessey says they will have you covered. The Texas-based company has announced it will offer a spate of upgrades for the 2014 Corvette ranging from a range of bolt-on options all the way up to a 1,000-horsepower, twin-turbo system. Buyers can start with a cold air intake, cat-back exhaust or stainless steel long-tube headers, but Hennessey says it will also offer up three stages of forced induction mayhem should those bits and baubles not provide enough thrust.
Those choices start with a supercharger system good for up to 700 hp, though Hennessey will gladly ditch the blower in favor of two turbos. Doing so will spin the crank to the tune of 800 horsepower all the way up to a certifiably ludicrous 1,000 ponies. There's no word on how much these tricks will cost you - or when they will be available, as we're guessing they haven't gotten their hands on the car yet - but you can head over to the Hennessey site to drop them a line if you're curious.
Chevy Bolt wins 2017 Green Car of the Year
Thu, Nov 17 2016We knew that a plug-in vehicle was going to win the 2017 Green Car of the Year award this year, given that all five finalists have a way to charge up. And when Ron Cogan, the editor and publisher of Green Car Journal, announced the winner – the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV – he said that the car itself represents one of those times in the auto industry when everything is about to change. Similar to the invention of the starter motor, things are about to get different. For now, though, the fact that the Bolt EV won an award sounds like the same old thing all over again. Just this week, it was named Motor Trends Car of the Year and to the Car And Driver Top 10 list. The other four finalists for Green Car of the Year included the Toyota Prius Prime, the Chrysler Pacifica, the Kia Optima (including hybrid and plug-in hybrid models) and the BMW 330e iPerformance.
