CHEVY

BLAZER

SPORT PACKAGE

Up for auction today I am offering an extremely clean 1993 Chevy Blazer.  It was bought brand new by a gentleman in Dallas, Tx.  He lived there up until about 10 years ago when he moved to the mountains in Ruidoso, NM.  They changed it over to a second vehicle there and put snow stud tires on it for winter use only and kept it in the garage.  This thing has been garage kept its entire life until about 3 months ago when he sold it finally.  The man that bought it intended to give it to his grandson, but he didn't want it.  So he put it up for sale and that is how I acquired it, all it all I guess you could say it exchanged owners 3 times, although the 2nd owner never drove it and neither have I for I bought it simply to resale.  I had it detailed already and thought of removing the snow tires and running boards, but figured I'd leave them incase whoever buys it has the intent to use it for a winter vehicle as well.  Now for some details.

Exterior-  The outside of this truck is an 9 out of 10 for this age of vehicle in my opinion.  There is absolutely no rust what so ever, there are a some nicks and scratch's, a few small door dings here and there, and a scrap on the right rear quarter that also chipped the taillight.  There is no fading to the pain what so ever, clear coat is awesome and all this is amazing here in the desert since silvers and red's fade the fastest, which we can thank being garaged to.  It is the original paint job, no signs of previous repairs or repaint.  It has DeeZee stainless steel running boards, receiver hitch, luggage rack and the all to popular tailgate style rear access door with a hatch.

Interior-  I would give the interior a 9 as well.  The only reason I'd give it a 9 is because of a small crack in the dash, which is amazing for this year models dash which was usually cracked all to heck by now and then it looks like something rubbed the headliner by the left rear grab handle in the back seat (pictured) and back seat by the access handle(also pictured).  Other than that it is mint, carpet is excellent, all components function like they should, it has power drivers seat, power mirrors, locks, windows, equalizer stereo, buckets with console, factory rubber floor mats in perfect condition and headliner console. Spare tire in the back is in great shape with all the jack and hardware.  Nothing has been messed with on this truck, no aftermarket stereo, no custom speakers or anything.  The original owner did have an aftermarket alarms system and when he moved to the hills he had it disabled, in the process the fuse cover and kick panel under the steering wheel were misplaced.  I will look for replacements online and in the wrecking yard, which shouldn't be hard to find, but just be advised incase I can't find them.

Mechanical-  This thing is O-R-I-G-I-N-A-L nothing has been tampered with, factory 350c.i. engine, factory tranny, mechanical shift on the fly 4wd, A/C will freeze you out, underhood is immaculate, it does have a battery disconnect since it was a secondary vehicle.  It runs excellent, smooth, quiet, just like it was still new. It did have the exhaust changed, factory style though, normal muffler and stock sized pipe and all.

I have looked for one this clean for a very long time, although I've been looking for a different color combination, not a red interior fan.  Just think in a few short years this thing will be a classic, just has to be 25 years old, and it is now almost 22 being that it was built 9/92.  So if you are looking for a solid rust free driver/cabin rig/custom candidate then this is the one for you, or you could restore the paint one day whenever it may finally need it and have an awesome classic rare 2 door Blazer.  Remember these things were only built as a Blazer from 1992-1994, then 1995-99 were Tahoe's.  If you have any questions about it feel free to message me or call me at 575-626-3557, my name is Eric.  As always it is being sold as-is-where-is, no warrentee offered or implied, thanks for looking and happy bidding.

800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.

Chevy SS prototype spotted wearing Pontiac G8 clothes

Tue, 28 Aug 2012

Do not adjust your computer screen, you are not seeing the rebirth of the Pontiac brand. General Motors has chosen to use a G8 to disguise a test mule for the latest prototype of the forthcoming Chevrolet SS. The G8 was closely related to the Holden Commodore and Vauxhall VXR, the platform upon which the new Chevrolet performance model will be based. It should come as little surprise, then, that GM has opted to use the cladding from the former G8.
Thought the front clip of this mule is pure Pontiac, note the vents immediately behind the front wheel. That is a distinctive design hallmark of the Vauxhall VXR. Also note that this vehicle is right-hand drive, as the Holden and its Chevy counterpart will be very closely related. That likely includes potential drivetrains. The spy photos of this mule also reveal very wide rear tires, and rear wheels that do not match the fronts.

Common Dodge Ram 1500 vs. Chevrolet Silverado breakdowns

Wed, May 4 2016

These two trucks are famous for their ability to get the job done. Still, even the toughest vehicle can have mechanical problems at some time. What if we match the Dodge Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado head to head? Let's find out more about common repairs for each model. Also, learn some tricks to pay for car repairs. Clunky Steering Both Dodge and the Chevy owners sometimes notice bumping and clunking when steering. This might be more noticeable when driving over bumps. The cause is usually different in each truck though. In the Dodge Ram, clunky steering is more likely due to a defective lower ball joint. Replacement costs around $300 - $400, parts and labor. Clunky Chevy Silverado steering is probably a steering rack failure. This problem appears more often in trucks with over 90,000 miles. Silverado steering rack repair will run you up to $1,000 or more. Starting Woes For the Chevy Silverado with over 130,000 miles, you might notice trouble starting. This problem may appear occasionally at first, but it typically gets worse. Excluding a weak battery, the culprit is usually the starter. Replacement will cost you around $330 - $500. Of the total cost, $90 is for labor only. Now the Dodge Ram might make a ticking sound when starting, especially on models with over 94,500 miles. The noise often disappears after the engine warms up. These symptoms may indicate a broken exhaust manifold. Repair costs range from $800 - $900. Burning Oil & Gas Gauge On The Blink Sometimes, the Dodge Ram burns oil much faster than normal. In models with over 125,000 miles, this often points towards a leaky intake manifold gasket. A knocking sound may also appear with acceleration along with possible engine misfire. The cost to repair is around $200 - $300. The Chevy Silverado has its own surprises, especially when you've filled the gas tank but the gauge still reads low. Or the needle fluctuates widely from low to full while driving. In trucks with over 120,000 miles, it's likely due to a faulty fuel sensor. You might need a full fuel pump replacement, which can cost you up to $820, parts and labor. Water Inside And Poor Heat The Ram 1500 rear window has been known to leak. You might notice the back seat and floor wet after a rainstorm. This is more common in trucks with over 65,000 miles. Resealing the Ram 1500 rear window costs around $150 - $250.
