Minty 4x4 K5 Blazer with 461 BBC -- *MUST SEE*

Overall Description
Near immaculate, laser straight 1991 4x4 K5 Silverado Blazer. One of the nicest, cleanest, built K5's you will ever see. Absolutely rust free, bondo free, accident free and damage free. This has always been a southern truck and has never seen mud, snow or salt. It has rarely seen rain and has never been off-roading. This truck is a beauty and gets comments daily. You can't park anywhere without someone coming up to admire and comment. Professionally built 461 BBC engine with less than 1,000 miles that runs like a top, not some junk yard salvage project. This truck was built with reliability and everyday drivability as priorities. Unlike many Blazer projects, this one is not "over the top" with hood scoops, crazy tire sizes, ear-bleeding subwoofers.

1991 was the last year this generation full-size Blazer was made. Only 7,332 were produced.

Highlights: 461 cubic inch BBC with true dual 3" exhaust, Performance 700R4 transmission, 4.56 gears, 4 inch suspension lift, 35 inch tires. See below for the details.

The only reason I am selling this K5 is because I need a pickup truck. And I feel the truck is just too nice to be exposed to the midwest weather elements.

This Blazer started out immaculate (rust and damage free) and then the build was started. This Blazer build is different from the rest because it started out in near perfect condition. This truck has more than $30,000 invested in the build and is well documented.

I have a thick book of receipts, history and information for the work done on this truck.

I have a clear and clean title in hand. I have registration proof this is a southern truck. Prior to the resto-modifications, this truck had approximately 140k rust-free miles. This was not a frame-off restoration because it was simply not needed.

If you have any questions, please email me. This awesome truck is destined for someone who appreciates the truck as a solid build, done right and is not a back-yard hack job. So if you call, please be serious and not just a tire kicker. Thank you.

Body:
Rust free, white paint in very good condition. The blazer has been painted a 2004 Toyota White (paint code 040). This paint was professionally applied, not a garage hack-job. The fiberglass top was sanded smooth to remove the small bumps and painted to match the body. The cap has never been off the body.

Suspension:
4 inch suspension lift by ORD (Off road design) with shackle flip. ORD is recognized as a leader in quality GM lift systems and no blocks were used. The lift gives the K5 the perfect stance while maintaining drivability and handling at highway speeds. Rancho shocks (less than 1000 miles) all the way around.

Bumpers:
Custom fabricated winch front bumper, one of a kind. Rear bumper has A-frame, swing-away spare tire mount, custom fabricated also. Exceptionally sturdy and handles the 35 inch spare tire with ease. Front axle is GM Corporate 10 Bolt with 4.56 Yukon gears.
Rear axle is GM Corporate 10 Bolt with 4.56 Yukon gears and Eaton Posi Limited Slip.

Brakes:
Stainless brake lines. Calipers, rotors, pads with less than 1000 miles. New master brake cylinder.

Interior:
New grey and black interior including carpets, seats, and custom side panels in rear and bottom of doors. No rips, tears or stains.
Prior to replacing the carpet, the rust free floor was sprayed with bed liner. The console in between the front seats is 100% crack free (a rarity). The interior has remained smoke free, pet free and french-fry free.

Air Conditioning / Heat:
Original air conditioning R12 system replaced with modern R134a system. New compressor last month.
Heat works well.

Instruments:
All gages and lights are functioning, all power windows (regulators recently replaced) and door locks function as they should. Turn signals, horn, wipers, etc. all work fine.

Here's why automakers roll out those Texas-themed pickup trucks

Thu, Sep 29 2016

Every year, automakers with a full-size truck link make a big show of the Texas State Fair, usually involving a reveal of a new model. Sometimes they show a whole new truck, and other times a special edition centered on the Lone Star state. While some people might write this off as a quirk of the industry, others might be wondering, "What's the big deal with Texas?" As it turns out, part of the big deal with Texas is big truck sales. According to Dave Sullivan, product analysis manager at AutoPacific, Texas buys more trucks than any other state in the country. It's not a small margin either. Edmunds.com, one in five trucks sold in the US are sold in Texas. The state also accounts for 15 percent of the country's large truck sales, which is more than twice that of California, the second largest truck market in America. Even when you break down sales only in Texas, trucks are a huge piece of the pie - Sullivan says that a quarter of new vehicle sales in Texas are trucks. One in five trucks sold in the US are sold in Texas. But it's not just sales that make truck builders give attention to Texas. As Sullivan explained, "Pickups are life in Texas." Both he and Hugh Milne, marketing and advertising manager for the Chevy Silverado line, said that trucks are key fixtures in Texas society, as both work trucks and luxury vehicles (or Texas Cadillacs as Milne called them). Milne said Texas is so important in the truck market that if you want to be successful in the rest of the country, "you've got to be successful in Texas." As for the State Fair, it has become a prime location for reveals in part because of the importance of the Texas market and because of how big the fair is. Milne also revealed that the State Fair also hosts its own auto show, so it's an ideal venue for a vehicle introduction. So there you have it. Why do truck builders obsess over Texas? It's because Texas obsesses over trucks. When you have one market that loves your product that much, you give it the attention it deserves. Ford Police Interceptors dominate Michigan State Police testing

Tue, Nov 1 2016

Once again, Ford Motor Company builds the fastest police vehicles. The Blue Oval touted the news in an official release following Michigan State Police and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department testing. Ford did very well. Except for one acceleration metric – zero to 10 miles per hour – the Blue Oval's Taurus and Explorer-based cop cars were the quickest, with particular praise coming for the EcoBoost-powered models, which bested Chevrolet and Dodge's V8-powered variants. Dearborn's products also posted the fastest average times around MSP's vehicle dynamics course. But it wasn't all positive for Ford. The only four-cylinder in the contest, the 2.0-liter, EcoBoost Ford SSP Sedan, had both the lowest top speed, 120 mph, and the slowest acceleration figures. It was also the slowest in track testing. Ford's products also failed to match the braking and top speeds of its rivals from Detroit and Auburn Hills – the rear-drive Charger Pursuit posted the best braking stats of the entire test, while the V8-powered Chevrolet Caprice hit the highest top speed, at 155 mph. Ford did score a top speed award, among SUVs, but at 132 mph, the naturally aspirated Police Interceptor Utility had to share its award with the equally fast, rear-drive Chevrolet Tahoe. The LA County Sheriff's timing isn't publicly available, but according to Ford, the EcoBoost-powered police cars put on a similarly impressive show for cops on the West Coast. We've assembled a spreadsheet on Google Docs that offers an easy to browse comparison of the different stats assembled by the Michigan State Police, and divided the vehicles between standard V6-powered sedans, high-performance sedans (EcoBoost and V8 models), and SUVs. You can check it out here. Related Video:

Watch a 2015 Corvette Z06 run the quarter in 11.7 seconds

Sun, Dec 28 2014

We're not writing about this because it's an amazing run, we're writing about it because it appears to be the first run. Someone took a 2015 Corvette Z06 to Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas and blasted it down through the quarter mile. It's still wearing the dealer number in wax pen on the windshield and dealer plates, so this example is fresh from the mold. It's also a seven-speed manual. General Motors said the row-your-own Z06 can do the 'strip in 11.2 seconds, and they undoubtedly had a professional driver and more than one run to set that time. To have Just Some Guy show up at the raceway and do an 11.7 at 120.54 mph on his first run means we expect good things to come as Z06s get delivered to their owners. Check out the run in the video.
