1973 Chevrolet K5 Blazer Gmc Jimmy Full Convertable 4x4 on 2040-cars
Patterson, California, United States
For sale is a 1973 GMC Jimmy Sierra full convertible 4x4. I purchased this vehicle 3 years ago from the owner who did the frame-off restoration 3 years prior. The restoration has approximately 7,000 miles on it between the original owner and the miles that I have driven it. This vehicle was restored to look original without the sluggish and restricted smog compliant motors of those years. This vehicle is now smog exempt. Since I did not rebuild it myself I do not know the specifics of what went into the motor. I do know that it was completely rebuilt from the top to the bottom and equipped with upgraded intake, carb, ignition, headers, cam, exhaust, and etc. Some of this can be seen in the pictures as well as the overall condition and cleanliness under the hood. The builder said he had the engine built up to 400 horsepower. I can not verify that but this engine does have some serious "get up and go" and runs strong and smooth as it should. It is paired to the rebuilt TH-350 automatic transmission with shift kit. It always runs cool with all new hoses and cooling system. The interior is near perfect. A new Alpine receiver was installed to use with smartphone, iPod, or mp3's and its connected to new JL Audio speakers that sound great. The vehicle has an alarm system and keyless entry. Although it has factory AC it does not blow cold. All controls and heater work great but the AC needs to be charged. The AC has not worked since I have owned the vehicle but I never charged it or investigated if the system had a leak since I have always used it with the top off anyway. The needle on the gear indicator also does not work. It indicates "P" all the time. Other than the two issues mentioned, everything else is in excellent condition and functions as it should. This vehicle is a 4x4 but it has never seen dirt. It has always been garaged and only used to cruise the streets on weekends with good weather. This vehicle runs and drives as new. It holds the road extremely well and brakes true. It has plenty of power and is perfectly reliable and comfortable to drive on any trip. When I bough it, it had aftermarket wheels so I bought some factory rally's and hubs and had them painted and polished to original spec. I put new Michelin tires on them and have not driven it 500 miles since. The builder also installed an extra seat in the back you can view in the pictures. I have described the vehicle the best I can and I hope the pictures describe it well too, but for any questions serious buyers may have they can call me at 209-605-5946 and I will try to answer. All in all this is a turn key truck that's ready for a new owner to drive and enjoy. Thanks $500 Deposit at close of auction for winning bidder. Cash, cashiers check, or wire transfer for remaining funds. Will help with shipping arrangements at buyers expense. Sold As Is. |

Anti-purist 1963 Ferrari GTE sports hot rod Chevy V8
Thu, Oct 8 2015I remember reading a story around the time Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift came out. It focused on one of the star cars of that film, a 1967 Ford Mustang fastback that started the film as a shell, and in a pinch, was transformed into a modified masterpiece, complete with the RB26DETT engine from a Nissan Skyline GT-R (which started the film under the hood of an S15 Silvia). There was a genuine (and in our minds, absurd) fear in the article that taking a piece of classic American iron and fitting a twin-turbocharged JDM engine would result in some awful trend in the classic car community. If you thought a GT-R-powered classic Mustang was sacrilege, though, this car will probably make you vomit. For the rest of us, it's a neat piece of engineering. Shown above is a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTE, and yes, that's a 302-cubic-inch, small-block Chevrolet V8 under the hood. On top of that, it uses the six-speed manual transmission from a Viper, a nine-inch Ford rear end, and Mitsubishi-sourced paint. So yeah, it's a FrankenFerrari. Check out Road Heads' interview with this custom GTE's owner, which is followed by a brief test drive. And of course, head into Comments afterwards, and let us know what you think. Is this Yankee-powered 250 GTE blasphemous or badass?
Best cars for snow and ice in 2023 and 2024
Tue, Jan 23 2024What's the best car for snow? The real answer is "the one with winter tires." What do we mean by that? You could have the finest, most advanced all-wheel-drive system or four-wheel drive in the world, but if you're running all-seasons (the spork of tires), your fancy four-wheeler won't matter much. The odds are, any vehicle on the road running good winter tires will probably perform adequately in slippery, slushy and/or snowy road conditions. (Here's a more complete explanation of why winter tires are totally worth it). In other words, you don't really need any of the cars on this list. With a set of winter tires, countless others will do the job, and even these will be at their best with proper rubber. You can find a variety of winter tires for your car here at Tire Rack. Keep in mind that you will need a full set of four snow tires for safety and performance, no matter what you're driving. The days of your dad putting just two snows on the family truckster to get it moving in a straight line are long gone. Don't get us wrong, getting a car that performs well in snow and ice is still a worthy criteria for car buyers. According to the U.S. Transportation Department, 70% of Americans live in places that get snow and ice. And much of the country has been blasted with arctic air for much of the new year. So let's look at the cars. First, we're highlighting choices for a variety of buyers and price points. Second, we're not just considering snow; we're considering general wintery conditions people will experience driving to work or school. As such, these are all choices with advanced all-wheel-drive systems, usually with "torque-vectoring" systems that not only automatically shunt power front and back, but side to side between the rear axles. Most have extra ground clearance for getting through deep snow, and we prefer those vehicles with more responsive steering, throttles and transmissions that provide a greater sense of vehicle control in slippery conditions. Acura RDX Read our Acura RDX Review Acura's Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system was one of the first to offer torque-vectoring, and besides often being touted for its ability to greatly enhanced dry-road handling, its benefits in the slick stuff can be profound. It's actually surprising that Acura hasn't leaned into this capability further by offering more rugged versions of its vehicles.
No, Cadillac is not killing its flagship CT6 sedan
Sat, Jul 22 2017Mark Twain never actually said that reports of his death had been greatly exaggerated. But if the Cadillac CT6 could talk, those are the exact words it would use. Speaking to Jalopnik, Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen confirmed, emphatically, "There is absolutely no plan, at all, to cancel the CT6." In fact, says de Nysschen, the CT6 will soon be the beneficiary of significant investment. "The [CT6] forms a very important part of our product strategy going forward for the brand. The car also has a very major contribution to make to the shaping of brand perceptions, and the transformational process that Cadillac is undergoing." For instance, expect the CT6 to spearhead General Motors' most advanced forays into self-driving automobile technology. Interestingly, though, the Cadillac ATS and CTS sedans probably won't live past their current generations as the automaker 're-balances its sedan portfolio.' Replacement models are "in development" right now, says de Nysschen, which will "much more clearly separate the market position, both in terms of target customer demographics, in terms of market segments and in terms of price points between these three sedan lineups." So, that's confirmation that the Cadillac CT6 is going to stick around for a while. But what of other models cited by Reuters to potentially be killed, like the Buick LaCrosse and Chevy Impala and Volt? Read our take on that here, but suffice it to say that we don't think they're in danger, either.
