1972 was the last year of the First Generation Blazers. As such this truck has the desirable fully removable top leaving only the wind in your hair. This double walled top is in good condition for its age all of the glass is there without any chips cracks or scratches. The back latch lifts up easily and stays up. the new weather stripping all around keeps the elements out.

The engine is an economical yet still powerful 307 SBC with a reliable 2 barrel carb on a duel plane manifold. It starts up easily every time and has a deep lumpy great sounding idle thanks to Flowmaster exhaust with brand new pipes. The ignition is a GM HEI Distributor with new Cap and Rotor & 7mm wires and new Accel shorty header Sparkplugs.

The Trasmission in a Turbo TH350 with a new filter, and chrome pan and new gasket. it dose not leak here. Only leaking issue with this truck is the slight ATF leak that is coming from the back of the tranny where it joins the NP205 Transfer Case, it is currently missing the gasket there. Although I have purchased the gasket  and O-ring kit and it will come with the truck, I have not been able to install it yet. This leak dose not affect the driveability much of the truck, rather it is just annoying to me. The transfer case if fulled with Amsoil Synthetic gear lube, as is the rear end, which also recently got a new gasket and dose not leak.

The inner Fender wells were removed for better access to the engine bay in the pictures. They will be re-installed before pick up.

Other parts recently replaced:
  • New 22 gal Fuel Tank with new Sending Unit. As you may know these tanks eventualy can rust out and leak, this one is brand new from Brothers, and is painted with truck bed liner on the outside to prevent scratching. The dash Fuel Gauge dosn't work so it will need to be replaced.
  • New Brakes all the way around. Front disk with new Pads and Rotors with rebuild Calipers professionally installed. Rear Drums have fresh pads and rebuilt kit with a well functioning Parking Brake.
  • New Idiot 5 position Tilt Steering Column, with a new style safe colapesable Intermediate Link and a rebuilt Stearing Box all profesionaly installed. It steers smoothly and has a very tight turning radius, lock to lock under power with no grinding at all.
  • New exaust pipes hooked up to Flowmasters, it sounds great!!
  • New stock sized Shocks at all 4 wheels.  This truck has a 3 inch body lift which makes it easy to get under an service when needed.
  • New interior Vinyl Floor Mat in the cab area.  The rest of the truck's  interior has been coated with Rustolium Truck bed liner to provide years of service.
  • New windsiled wipers, and the Winshield Wiper motor works well on High and Low speeds.
The Good: Basically this truck is good to go. It starts, runs, drives, steers, and stops well. Good street & trails driver but a little slow on the highways. All head lights and running lights work. Most of the Fluids have been recently changed, including new ATF, Brake Fluid, Oil, Amsoil Synthetic Gear Lube for Transfer case and Rear end.
Interior is in good shape ready for people to enjoy. Very comfortable. Tilt Steering helps out allot! All the windows roll up with a little effort. Doors shut solid. Weather stripping is new. Seats are in great shape. Chrome trim all around you. I put in some water resitant seat covers which have multiple zipper and velcro pockets on the sides and in the back for all your needs. Rear Vinyl seat is in decent shape with only a small tear on the arm rest in the back. No rips in the rear seat itself. Over all the White top is in great shape for its age! But the rear Hatch Latch dose not Lock.

Lots of Chrome: Chrome Door Threshold and Still Plates. Solid Chrome Bumpers front and back. Chrome Driver side Mirror. New Chrome wheel trim on all 4. Chrome Transmission Pan. Good Tires. plenty of tread on 33's. Subtle 3" lift kit makes it a nice head turner and easy to work underneath. Clean Title.

The Bad: Some minor elecricals like; Dash Fuel Gauge dosn't work. Some Dash light are out. No Horn Button. The Heating and AC Ducts have been taken out cus they were stinky and filled with 40 years of dust, these need to be replaced. The Heater and AC Fan dosn't work, and the origonal AC has been taken out by the previous owner not me....But Who needs it anyways just have a few guys help you take the top off and enjoy the sun and wind! Annoying ATF leak..needs gasket installed behind the transfer case adaptor which is included in sale.
Some minor body scratches, on the passeger side. Some body rot in the driver side rear quater panel. A little rust on the bottoms of the doors. Tailgate has a dent just below the Rear latch. See the pictures to tell for yourself. This is my best honest assesment of this truck. I regret selling it but it needs to go, family is expanding.

A conversation with GM's Mark Reuss on MPG, aluminum and Corvettes

Wed, Feb 19 2014

There was plenty to talk about when General Motors hosted its annual mid-December holiday media reception a few months ago. GM had just decided to pull its global Chevrolet brand out of major European markets, where Chevys have competed directly with GM Europe Opel and Vauxhall vehicles, and the US government had sold its last remaining shares of GM stock. But most important was the company's just-reshuffled leadership. Post-bankruptcy CEO Dan Akerson had announced that he would step aside and that 52-year-old Mary Barra would replace him on January 15. Not only would she be the first woman to lead a major automaker, she would also be GM's first engineer CEO since Bob Stempel in the early 1990s. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors" - Mark Reuss Replacing her as executive VP for global product development (and purchasing and supply chain) would be 49-year-old Mark Reuss, who had served a stellar four years as North American president, and elevated to corporate president (from executive VP and CFO) would be 42-year-old Dan Amman. All three are relatively young auto enthusiasts who are liked and respected inside and outside the company, and their collective talents and experience are highly complementary. I've interviewed Barra and found her smart, personable and knowledgeable, though she carefully walks the corporate line in speaking and answering questions. I met and chatted with Ammann for the first time at that holiday reception, and he made a good first impression. But I've known Reuss for some time as a genuinely good guy and a highly capable and inspiring leader, and I believe he is exactly the right person for the global product responsibility once famously held by the outspoken, oft-controversial Bob Lutz. So I jumped at an opportunity to join a group interview of Reuss (with mostly business reporters) at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It was an interesting session of mostly good questions, which he answered with refreshing candor and humor. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors," Reuss said. "We've taken down almost every plant in North America, converted and turned it this last year, and to do that with award-winning vehicles and pretty flawless launches is key. We have to keep the train rolling on great product, because the rest won't happen without the best product, period." A reporter asked whether GM was pushing big trucks, SUVs and Corvettes again because gas is cheap. "No," Reuss said.

GM cutting back on powertrain warranty citing lack of interest

Thu, Mar 12 2015

Generally, when a manufacturer offers a long, high-mileage warranty, it's a sign that it stands behind its products. On top of that, it's generally a selling point for consumers, who can rest easy knowing that any catastrophic failures will be picked up by the manufacturer. Considering those facts, it does seem rather strange that General Motors is slashing the mileage warranty on model year 2016 vehicles from Chevrolet and GMC. Instead of offering consumers a 100,000-mile warranty, GM will now only offer a powertrain warranty up to 60,000 miles. The five-year warranty period, though, remains unchanged. GM will also cut the number of free services being offered to Chevy and GMC owners, as well as Buick drivers, from four to two. "Through research, we have determined that when purchasing a new vehicle, included maintenance and warranty rank low on the list of reasons why consumers consider a particular brand over another," explained a memo sent to dealers by Chevrolet VP Brian Sweeney and his GMC counterpart, Duncan Aldred, and obtained by Automotive News. "As a result, we have benchmarked our competitors, reviewed our current offerings and have concluded the following modifications to align closely with our customers' needs and expectations." While the move might seem odd, Sweeney and Aldred are right – according to Automotive News, Ford, Honda and Toyota each offer a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. As for what the money saved by trimming the powertrain warranty will go towards, a GM spokesperson simply told AN that the company will "reinvest the savings we will realize into other retail programs," some of which have been requested by consumers. What are your thoughts? Would a 40,000-mile reduction in a new vehicle's powertrain really turn you off from buying one? Even if it matched its competitors? Is GM better off spending its money elsewhere? Have your say in Comments. GM executive chief EV engineer says reducing cost of plug-in vehicles is 'huge priority'

Mon, Mar 17 2014

As we know, another major automaker investing heavily in electrified vehicles is General Motors, and it's doing things much differently than rivals BMW, Ford or Nissan. The Chevrolet Volt extended-range EV is a modest seller at its $35,000 sticker price but a huge hit with owners. The Chevy Spark BEV, still in limited availability, puts smiley faces on its owners and drivers. The just-introduced Cadillac ELR, a sharp-looking, fun-driving $76,000 luxocoupe take on the Volt's EREV mechanicals, has admittedly low sales expectations. With this interesting trio in showrooms and much more in the works, the third vehicle electrification leader I collared for an interview at Detroit's North American International Auto Show (see #1 and #2) was Pam Fletcher, GM's executive chief engineer, Electrified Vehicles. ABG: Why do your EREVs need four-cylinder power to extend their range when BMW's i3 makes do with an optional 650 cc two-banger? "We designed [the Volt and the ELR] to go anywhere, any time" - Pam Fletcher PF: I get that question all the time: why not something smaller? You don't really need that much. You use the electric to its ability, then you just need to limp. But we designed those cars to go anywhere, any time, and we don't want their performance to be compromised. If you're driving through the mountains, we don't want you to be crawling up grades, or to be limited on any terrain. So it's optimized to be able to travel literally the biggest grades and mountain roads around the globe at posted speeds. Because what if you can't? Another good reason: when the engine is on, you have to run it wide open throttle, max speed, most of the time. And while we can do a lot with acoustics, and the ELR has active noise cancelation, a small-displacement, low cylinder-count engine at high speed, high load all the time isn't something you want to live with. That's how we came up with the balance we did among the key factors of performance, NVH [noise, vibration and harshness] and range. ABG: Where you go from here? Is the range-extender engine due for an update? PF: We know and love the current Volt, and there is still a lot of acclaim about it, so we think it's a good recipe. But we are heavily in the midst of engineering the next-generation car, which I think everyone will love and be excited about.
