LOS ANGELES BUILT CALIFORNIA CAR!
CHROME RALLY WHEELS!

Up for sale is a rare 1956 Chevrolet Nomad Bel Air 2 Door Wagon. This Nomad is an LA built California wagon that has never left California, so not a big rust bucket like most that haven't had been all patched up. The floors are solid! The car has a straight body as seen in pics. The car does have some rust issues in the bottom rocker of passenger side, but they do make new rocker patch panels that can be installed easily. The spare tire well is nice except for a little rust as seen in pic. There is also some bubbling on tail gate and next to rain gutter, a little at bottom of A pillar and driver door jam all as seen in pics so nothing hiding. The car was painted a long time ago and looks ok for a driver as is but should be redone to be right. It looks like someone punched a little hole too high when putting back on stainless as seen in pic. The chrome and stainless on the car is very nice inside and out. All of the glass is nice but does have a weird separation cracking on corner of back glass that is in between the glass panes as seen in pics. I was told the running gear is all original and that the carb and intake have been changed at some point to a 4bbl. The engine fires right up and run good! The transmission has a leak from the passenger side that is bad so I would recommend towing the car or if driven only at low speeds not far since the trans fluid will leak onto hot exhaust and cause it to smoke off the hot pipe. I'm sure it's an easy fix since it's a gasket that went bad but haven't had time to deal with it. The power brakes work great! The car has newer exhaust but the passenger side heat riser has an exhaust leak. The radiator has some what looks like jb weld around neck and you will see some bubbles of water when it warms up but the car has a temp gauge and runs very cool at 180. All the lights and blinkers work, new stereo works and has a remote. There is hidden speakers in the back in KFC picnic baskets. The interior is in great condition and has been redone in the last 5 years and still looks great, headliner is great too along with the chrome ribs. The car has A/C but needs a recharge. I know it kind of looks like im putting down the car but im just trying to be very honest about everything I know about the car. I bought it as is so I can only tell you what I know by what I see. I bought the car from the son of the owner who passed away some time ago and really didn't know much either. I bought the car with the intention to do a full pro touring restomod build but with other projects and lack of space I don't see that happening anytime soon.. As you can see the car is not perfect but my low starting price with no reserve reflects that and not one of a car that someone wanting $50k plus for. I am willing to entertain offers over my starting price if you feel you must have the car asap and not wanting to wait for the auction to end but would really like to make a fair auction for everyone so it would have to be a pretty nice offer. Bellow are all of the nice big pictures for you to view. If you have any questions about anything please feel free to contact me through ebay email or by the number below. The car is available for viewing by appointment only. Now let's have an auction!! Good luck!!

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra debut all-new designs, three new engines

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

General Motors has finally dropped the curtain on the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra. Both trucks have undergone substantial revisions with updated versions of the company's 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 engines. In a shot across the bows of both Ford and Chrysler, GM says it won't use a V6 engine adapted from passenger car applications. Instead, it developed the 4.3-liter engine based on its proven truck-duty architecture.
All three mills will boast direct injection fuel systems as well as a new cylinder head design. Combined with a revised piston, the new engines feature a smaller combustion chamber with a compression ratio of 11:1 or higher depending on the application. Cylinder deactivation and continuously variable valve timing are all part of the recipe, and each engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with auto grade breaking. So far, no fuel economy or horsepower figures have been released, though GM says the new engines will best their predecessors in both areas.
Outside, the trucks feature a number of enhancements to reduce drag and wind noise, and GM claims both the Silverado and Sierra will offer buyers some of the quietest cabins in the class. Extended cab models now feature front-hinged rear doors to allow easier access to the back passenger area, and Crew Cab buyers can now select between a five-foot, eight-inch bed or a six-foot, six-inch bed. Buyers with a mind toward going off road will also rejoice in the return of the Z71 package, complete with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and additional under-body protection.

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Chevrolet Turbo Sprint

Sun, Feb 6 2022

Fifteen years ago, I wrote my first-ever automotive article under the name Murilee Martin, and it didn't take me long to start writing about one of my favorite automotive subjects: the junkyard. Before I'd refined my system for documenting discarded vehicles, however, I shot a lot of boneyard photos that never got used. For today's Junkyard Gem, I have four shots from early 2007 of one of the rarest turbocharged machines of the 1980s: the Chevrolet Turbo Sprint. The Chevrolet Sprint was really a rebadged Suzuki Cultus, from the pre-Geo era when General Motors sold the Isuzu Gemini as the Chevrolet Spectrum, the Daewoo LeMans as the Pontiac LeMans and the Toyota Corolla as the Chevrolet Nova (soon enough, the Spectrum became a Geo, and the Nova became the Prizm). The second-generation Cultus appeared in 1988, becoming the Geo Metro on our shores the following year. The Turbo Sprint was available for just the last two years of the Sprint's 1985-1988 American sales run, and it appears that just a couple of thousand were sold; if I'd known at the time just how rare they were, I'd have shot more photos of this one at the now-defunct Hayward Pick Your Part. The turbocharged 993cc three-cylinder produced 70 horsepower, 22 better than the naturally-aspirated version. Since the Turbo Sprint weighed just 1,620 pounds (that's about 500 pounds lighter than a barely more powerful '22 Mitsusbishi Mirage), it was plenty of fun to drive. For 1988, the regular Sprint hatchback cost $6,380 while the Turbo Sprint listed at $8,240 (that's about $15,375 and $19,855 today, respectively). Believe it or not, a Turbo Sprint actually raced in the 24 Hours of Lemons 10 years ago, though it didn't end well. This ad is for the regular Cultus, not the Cultus Turbo, but the screaming guitars sound reasonably turbocharged. For the most part, Chevy Sprint marketing was all about cheap purchase price and stingy fuel economy… at a time when gasoline prices were cratering. Related Video:
