SELLER REMARKS |
|
This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air hardtop is already finished just the way you'd want it. Fantastic colors, fully sorted mechanicals, lots of options including A/C, and just enough attitude to let folks know the '50s are over. Yes, this is the one you've been waiting for.
Tuxedo Black with a red interior will look great forever, and it neatly straddles the original 1950s look with a few modern touches to make it relevant today. Hailing from a museum, the car is wonderfully preserved with a spectacular shine to the paint, which is amazingly coming up on 10 years old. It looks incredibly fresh and few cars wear black better than the '57 Chevy. Nice gaps, beautifully finished panels that reflect like mirrors, and tight-fitting trim all offer proof that a lot of time and money went into this car. The trim is all shiny and bright, including the traditional Bel Air panels on the quarters, and a few gold-anodized pieces retain the original look while offering a bit more contrast to the overall look. You know how '57 Chevys are supposed to look, and this hardtop totally nails it.
Stuffing a black and red interior in this hardtop creates a fantastic place to spend some time. Everything was new at the time of the restoration: seat covers, door panels, carpets, and even the headliner, and the passing years don't seem to have done much to diminish its crisp look. Color-matched floor mats blend in while the bright red steering wheel, dashboard, and window garnish moldings provide vivid contrast to the black bodywork. The original gauges are beautifully restored, and unlike so many of this car's siblings, even the clock is fully functional! You'll notice that the shift quadrant is a more modern setup with three forward gears, suggesting that the original PowerGlide was dumped in favor of a TH350 3-speed automatic. Aftermarket A/C uses under-dash vents for a more low-key look and it's still quite effective, and the original radio has been replaced with a digital AM/FM piece. The trunk was finished to stock specs, and includes a proper rubber mat and bias-ply wide whitewall spare tire of indeterminate age.
The wonder that is the small block Chevy V8 works in this '57 to give you a few extra cubes in the form of a later 327. Nicely detailed with bright Chevy Orange paint, it wasn't intended to look stock, but perhaps OEM-like in its execution. A 4-barrel carburetor helps build horsepower while a new aluminum radiator with a big electric fan keeps both the engine and the passengers cool when the A/C is cranking. You'll also find long-tube headers, a new dual master cylinder with front disc brakes, a big front sway bar with new springs and control arms up front, and adjustable air shocks out back, all of which make this a very versatile car. The chassis is tidy but not detailed, so you don't have to worry about hitting the road in this awesome Bel Air. Classic Torque Thrust wheels are the ideal high-performance rolling stock and spin 225/70/15 BFG radials.
This winning 1957 is traditional in every way that matters and brings a host of upgrades with it that makes it absolutely awesome to drive. Call today!

Generally, when a manufacturer offers a long, high-mileage warranty, it's a sign that it stands behind its products. On top of that, it's generally a selling point for consumers, who can rest easy knowing that any catastrophic failures will be picked up by the manufacturer. Considering those facts, it does seem rather strange that General Motors is slashing the mileage warranty on model year 2016 vehicles from Chevrolet and GMC. Instead of offering consumers a 100,000-mile warranty, GM will now only offer a powertrain warranty up to 60,000 miles. The five-year warranty period, though, remains unchanged. GM will also cut the number of free services being offered to Chevy and GMC owners, as well as Buick drivers, from four to two. "Through research, we have determined that when purchasing a new vehicle, included maintenance and warranty rank low on the list of reasons why consumers consider a particular brand over another," explained a memo sent to dealers by Chevrolet VP Brian Sweeney and his GMC counterpart, Duncan Aldred, and obtained by Automotive News. "As a result, we have benchmarked our competitors, reviewed our current offerings and have concluded the following modifications to align closely with our customers' needs and expectations." While the move might seem odd, Sweeney and Aldred are right – according to Automotive News, Ford, Honda and Toyota each offer a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. As for what the money saved by trimming the powertrain warranty will go towards, a GM spokesperson simply told AN that the company will "reinvest the savings we will realize into other retail programs," some of which have been requested by consumers. What are your thoughts? Would a 40,000-mile reduction in a new vehicle's powertrain really turn you off from buying one? Even if it matched its competitors? Is GM better off spending its money elsewhere? Have your say in Comments. First, they talk about the newly refreshed Chevy Camaro SS. Then they dish on the cars they've been driving, including the Lexus UX, Lexus GS F and Volvo V90, as well as riding in the new Mercedes-Benz GLS. After that, they ask the question, how many AMG cars is too many? Finally they turn to car buying, and suggest potential vehicles for a shopper on Reddit for the "Spend My Money" segment. While most of the world is still coming down from all the hype surrounding the debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month, we're already looking to the future. And according to Autoweek, the next chapter in the C7 story will unfold at the Geneva Motor Show in March. That's right, General Motors is reportedly using the Swiss stage as its venue to debut the Corvette Stingray convertible.
If this strikes you as odd, you aren't alone. After all, with a car that's such an American icon, we'd fully expect Chevrolet to unveil it here on our shores in either Chicago or New York. But according to Autoweek, GM is looking to boost export sales of its halo car, and since the C7 was engineered to compete with the world's best and brightest, showing it off in Geneva is somewhat of a smart move. What's more, those with sharp memories will recall that GM used the Geneva expo to debut the sixth-generation C6 Corvette convertible back in March 2004, so there's also a precedent.
Details surrounding the Corvette Stingray convertible are still slim, though we fully expect the 6.2-liter V8 and choice of either six-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmissions to carry over unchanged. Prototypes spotted on the road showed the car fitted with a cloth convertible roof, as well.
