SELLER REMARKS |

Sometimes all you want is a simple car with a V8 and timeless good looks, and a few creature comforts never hurt. This 1955 Chevy 210 2-door sedan is a no-nonsense shoebox Chevy that runs and drives and great as it looks, and offers all the right upgrades to make it a fantastic cruiser that's still happy to hit the shows.
Thanks to a fairly complete renovation a few years ago, this great-looking Chevy has that classic look that never seems to go out of style. Judging by how quickly cars like this sell, we know you guys love the look and it's the kind of car you'd build yourself, preserving the integrity of the original while adding a dose of horsepower that makes it a blast to drive. The classic India Ivory over Gypsy Red paint scheme looks period-perfect on the simple, clean lines of the '55 Chevy, and they laid off the metallic and pearls so it has a very honest look that's straight out of the '50s. They also resisted the urge to make radical modifications to the body, because, honestly, do you really think you could improve on this? Thankfully, all the original trim is intact, with the 210 offering a less ornate look right out of the box and which works extremely well with the mild makeover this car received. All the trim was restored at the same time, and it includes clean 1-piece bumpers that give it a smooth look that's not at all obvious.
The interior is a matching two-tone red and white setup that's a lot flashier than the original upholstery but keeps a period-correct vibe. Matching side panels are beautifully crafted and all the original hardware is intact, including door handles and garnish moldings. Even the original dash and instrument panel are in place, fully restored, with auxiliary gauges neatly installed under the dash in their own color-matched panel. Upgrades include under-dash air conditioning that uses the original controls, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, and an upgraded shifter for the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission living underneath. The very trunk appears to have been fully restored and finished, complete with a rubber mat and custom-made bulkhead panel that ties in neatly with the interior when viewed from behind.
The great thing about the small block Chevy's longevity is that you can drop a modern crate motor under the hood of a vintage shoebox and it fits perfectly. Thanks to that smooth-running 350 cubic inch V8, this car cruises effortlessly at modern speeds, starts easily, and parts are plentiful just about anywhere in the country, so long trips are worry-free affairs. Chrome valve covers and an open-element air cleaner dress it up, along with a shiny new 12-volt alternator. A stock-looking radiator keeps it cool under the harshest conditions, and with long-tube headers and a recent dual exhaust system, it has an authoritative rumble to it. The chassis is quite original save for new floors, which were thoughtfully painted with factory-style red oxide primer, and front disc brakes were added for safety. The front suspension was recently rebuilt so it tracks straight and proves you don't need a modern suspension to have decent ride and handling. 15-inch Cragar wheels give the car a hot-rod look and wear 225/70/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials.
Classic good looks, plenty of power, and enough custom touches to make people look twice, this '55 Chevy is a great way to travel. Call today!

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.

According to numbers crunched over at Hybrid Cars, the Tesla Model S was the best selling pure electric vehicle last year with 50,366 deliveries. These numbers might not tell the whole story, since Tesla reports deliveries made in 2015 that might have been sold in a different calendar year, while other makers are tallying sales. However, it's inarguable that the Model S ended up in more worldwide driveways than the second-place Nissan Leaf, which did about 43,000 sales. In the US alone, Leaf sales were down 42.8 percent year-on-year, from 30,200 in 2014 to 17,269 last year, and that decline also increased throughout the year. That marks a great finish to a great start to 2015, when Tesla took the lead in EV sales in the US for the first quarter. On top of that, as of last year the Model S becomes the second-best selling EV ever, with 107,148 deliveries since the middle of 2012. It trails the Nissan Leaf, with well over 200,000 worldwide sales. The Chevrolet Volt/Opel Ampera combo takes a close third, with about 106,000 sales. The Nissan and Chevy rivals both launched at the end of 2010, a 16-month head start on the Tesla. Down the charts, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV which continues to be forbidden fruit for our market notched 39,000 sales. The BYD Qin PHEV sold 31,898 examples in China, and BYD would take the overall victory from Tesla with 58,728 deliveries if you counted all of its EV and PHEV production, such as its electric buses. The BMW i3 nabbed fourth place with 24,057 global sales. In 2011 the Munich automaker said it wanted to sell 30,000 i3s annually by 2014, but by the time the car launched the company considered 15,000 annual sales 'great for now,' so the 2015 number seems a fine place to wind up. Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.
