1963 Belair 2 Dr Sedan Extremely Original And In Awesome Shape on 2040-cars

Year:1963 Mileage:99999

New Bern, North Carolina, United States

First, the car is located in New Bern, NC. I am listing this car for my father, any and all questions can be directed to him. His name is Lonnie and his number is 252-637-2976.

Very rarely do you find a car that is of this age in this condition. it would be a perfect candidate for a 409 transplant or drive it as is and enjoy the reliability and gas sipping economy of the great running 230 cid 6 cylinder. Purchased this car a year or so ago with the plans of making it an everyday driver but too many projects and too little time to complete all of them mandates the sale of this one to finish another one.

It is a 1963 Belair 2 dr sedan with the original 230/6 and power glide transmission. The car is in very very solid condition with very little rust. The floors and trunk are in perfect shape, never being patched or replaced and not undercoated so you can see exactly what you are getting. All of the body mounts are perfect, even the ones behind the rear tires where they typically rust out. Doors fenders all perfect. The ONLY rust I can see is a few very small bubbles trying to emerge from in front of the driverside rear tire. When I say minor I mean minor. The body is straight and does not show evidence of a bunch of bondo. The paint has a very nice patina to it, it has been painted once a very long time ago. It has new door rubbers, trunk rubber, window felts etc. The bumpers are original and in very nice shape with new aluminum inserts in the center. Everything works.

The interior has been redone in the original type look with original cloth inserts in grey with black vinyl. It really looks nice on the inside and the headliner is nice and overall it is just very nice on the inside.

The mechanicals on the car are also very solid. The brakes have been completely redone, engine has been tuned up and runs great. Powerglide 2 speed auto shifts nicely and performs nicely. Pat the gas, hit the ignition and she fires right up everytime. New tires, new exhaust, good battery, this ole girl is ready to ride. Drive it home. It really drives great on the highway.

If you are looking for a great car to drive or modify to your taste this is where you want to start. You will not be disappointed with what you see when you come to look. It is amazing just how solid and rust free this car is.   PLease call with any questions and to set up a time to come look.

This car is sold as is where is and there is no warranty expressed or implied.  Please come and inspect the car before purchasing or send someone to inspect it for you.  No bidders with excessive negative feedback or no feedback.  Shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser, although we can help with loading.  Have your money right before you bid, $500.00 immediate deposit required after winning auction, deposit is non-refundable.  Full payment expected within 3 days of winning auction unless other arrangements are made PRIOR to auction end. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early.   BID WITH CONFIDENCE!!!

'84 MotorWeek Cherokee, Bronco and Blazer comparison indulges your SUV nostalgia

Fri, Jan 16 2015

These days, truck-based, full-frame SUVs are somewhat of a rarity on the auto landscape due to the rapid rise in popularity of easier-driving, car-based crossovers. Although, without the gradually building popularity of these chunky, high-riding vehicles decades ago, it's unlikely that America's roads would be filled with so many CUVs today. In its latest dig into the archives, MotorWeek has found a 1984 comparison test of a trio of these early Sport Utility Wagons, as long-time host John Davis called them, that helped get acceptance of this segment going. This is a red, white and blue test of the SUVs from American automakers at the time and pits the Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Bronco and Jeep Cherokee (specifically in Wagoneer guise) against each other. Driving manners and interior usability are considered in the evaluation, but Motorweek actually takes these vehicles off road, too. Among the bigger revelations is the improvement in on-road ability in the past 30 years. While specific 0-60 times aren't given, all three models take around 10 seconds just to get to around 50 miles per hour in the 500-feet on-ramp acceleration test. Check out this clip to see just how far this segment has progressed in the past three decades or just get a blast of nostalgia from these now vintage models. Race Recap: 2013 Indianapolis 500 better than Bollywood; all the emotion, none of the music [spoilers]

Mon, 27 May 2013

If the 2013 Indy 500 were a movie it would be the one expected to win all the little statues come awards season, and if it were an athlete it would have made spectators watch in awe as it broke record after record. And this kind of talk comes after last year's race was considered one of the best ever - the last lap hijinks in 2012 and Takuma Sato's crash leading to a podium ceremony straight out of a Golden Globes tearjerker.
But this year's race delivered more than anyone expected, from the 250,000 fans to the commentators to the IndyCar series itself and, finally, to the guy who hopped through a two-mile window on Lap 197 to take the lead and keep it until the end.

2015 Chevy Volt gets larger battery, though range remains the same

Sat, Jul 19 2014

The Chevrolet Volt isn't changing much for the 2015 model year. According to specifications uncovered by Inside EVs, though, the new Volt's battery does have a slightly larger capacity. According to the spec sheet, this doesn't translate to increased range. Real world driving, though, might tell a different story. The 2015 Volt's battery storage is slightly higher than the outgoing model's, up from 16.5 kilowatt-hours to 17.1 kWh. According to GM's manager of electrification technology communications, Kevin Kelly, speaking to Green Car Reports, the increased capacity is "a late change done in the cell... just another continuous improvement to surprise and delight our customers." The stated electric range, however, stays at 38 miles. Inside EVs followed up on its original report, and found that drivers could see some advantage to the battery tweak. When they spoke to Kelly, he told them, "As a result of this change, we would expect that some customers may see a slight improvement in overall EV range." It's worth noting that when battery capacity increased from 16 kWh to 16.5 kWh for the 2013 Volt, electric range increased by three miles to the current 38, while MPGe went from 94 to 98. The price of the 2015 Chevrolet Volt remains steady, at $34,995. The actual cost to the customer is considerably less with the $7,500 federal tax credit, as well as any local incentives.
