1960 Chevrolet Bel Air on 2040-cars
Satellite Beach, Florida, United States
a very cool car in need of restoration. Glass in very good condition. Chrome is in very good condition, though missing a few pieces. The front bumper in excellent condition. Dash is in very good condition. It appears to be the original engine, a 235.5 CID Six of 135 hp (101 kW). It starts right up, although there is some blowback. Rings seem good. Body man said that the only body parts that couldn't be repaired were the food and the truck. There is a fair amount of bondo on the rear quarter panels. The car also has power steering. Dash lights and radio are not wired, so I don't know if they work or not. This is a very cool classic car. I do not know this car well. I bought it from my friend who was leaving the state and couldn’t take the car with him. I bought as a favor to him and with hope that I would be able to resale it for a small profit. I don’t know the car well, though he said it ran fine although he it was having issues with the breaks. The engine starts right up and runs, however though I registered it in my name I did not pay to tag it. You are welcome to have a mechanic come look at it. Glass in very good condition. GM execs fired over fraudulent India emissions testing
Mon, 29 Jul 2013General Motors hadn't had a recall in India since 1995. That changed when it was discovered that certain employees were playing tricks with local emissions testing in order to ensure passing grades for engines. More than ten GM Powertrain employees in India and the US have been let go over the ensuing emissions flap, including Sam Winegarden, VP of global engine engineering, a man who has been with the company since 1969, leading development of some marquee powerplants.
According to Automotive News, an internal investigation revealed that employees "violated testing procedures," sometimes swapping specially prepared low-emissions engines during testing regimes for the Chevrolet Tavera SUV equipped with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter engines. Employees were also manipulating weights in order to get vehicles placed into different emissions categories. The discovery has led to GM recall the 114,000 Taveras produced over an eight-year period and halting their production and sale.
The Economic Times of India reports that the issue is due to "a faulty component." GM has developed a solution to the issue, and once it is validated in testing and approved by the Indian authorities, the recalled vehicles will be fixed at dealers and production will resume.

NHTSA closes book on Ford, GM probes of 600,000 vehicles
Thu, Nov 27 2014US safety regulators have closed a pair of investigations into some 500,000 Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Marauder sedans built between 2004 to 2007, and 100,000 Chevrolet Impala models from 2014. The Ford investigation focused on rusting heat shields, which may become dislodged and jam the steering, according to Reuters. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that this happened very rarely. In fact, of the ten incidents filed with the government safety watchdog, six came from a single police department, which evidently had some sort of problem with its reporting. As for the Impala, the NHTSA investigators attributed two incidences of "unintended autonomous braking" to user error. In both cases, the vehicles were involved in rear-end collisions. According to GM investigators, it's believed that drivers accidentally activated the electric parking brake, causing the collisions. The vehicles in question were rental cars.
