This auction is for a 1957 Chevy 4 door Bel Air. It is a good running, fun to drive car that is priced to sell. We traded for this car 3 years ago and it has been sitting in our warehouse until I got challenged to get it on eBay this week.. I am a retired dealer friend of Jim [chargerman6970] and I love the oldies. I also list his vehicles here on eBay.. I sent this car to the shop and they rebuilt the carb and the starter. They also tuned it up and added a hand choke. It already had a new alternator and a new battery.. Now it starts right up the first crank with no smoke or noises.. It has a good clutch and the old school 4 speed transmission works great.. This car does have a new 3.5 gal Moon Eyes aluminum gas tank in the trunk.. There is no original tank and the very bottom of the trunk [floor] is rusty [see pic # 22].. The Moon tank is mounted on a metal plate.. There is also some rust in the passenger floor areas.. The frame is solid and all of the body mounts are in good shape.[see pic # 23]. The spring hangers are free of rust and the inner quarter panel areas inside the trunk are in excellent condition [see pics]. This car has a different steering wheel but does have the original spare and jack.. It has a rare "radio delete plate" in the dash.. This car has new radials mounted on Corvette rallys wheels.. The trim rings and center caps are included in the auction.[ in the trunk]. I just thought the car looked good without them.. It has new seat covers but the headliner is original. The lower half of the car was painted somewhat recently [maybe 5 years ago] but the upper half of the car has not. Note the patina on the trunk.. This car is by no means a show winner but a fun, solid ride to your local cruise ins. I drove it to our local ice cream shop today.. The steering and brakes are good on this car but the speedometer does not work.. The wipers work and there is no radio. All of the doors, the hood and trunk all open and shut solidly but some of the door glass has cracks. The engine in this car has a chrome valve cover and a chrome air breather.. Chevrolet Bolt EV Concept foreshadows an affordable, 200-mile EV future [w/videos]
Mon, Jan 12 2015Confirming numerous reports and rumors, Chevrolet introduced the Bolt EV Concept, "a vision" of a 200-mile EV with an entry price of around $30,000. Those lofty promises ride atop a funky crossover that made its global debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. The orange five door features a spacious greenhouse, complemented by a glass roof and thin D-pillar. A narrow grille and slim LED headlights crown a high fascia that leaves little ahead of its front axle. It's a similar story in back, as General Motors' design boss Ed Welburn sought to limit overhangs and maintain the Bolt's small footprint. "Form and function have never meshed so well together," Welburn said. "No compromises were made when it came to aesthetics and the elements that contribute to the Bolt EV concept's range, resulting in a unique proportion that's sleek, efficient and obviously a Chevrolet." The cabin is not unlike current Chevrolet compacts, with the MyLink touchscreen and a detached instrument cluster dominating the sparse dash. Unlike cars like the Sonic, which features a similar design for its instrument cluster, A Volt-like display is found over the steering column. "The Bolt EV concept is a game-changing electric vehicle designed for attainability, not exclusivity," CEO Mary Barra said. "Chevrolet believes electrification is a pillar of future transportation and needs to be affordable for a wider segment of customers." Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards
Tue, 27 Nov 2012Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
