1957 Chevy Bel Air 2 Door Hardtop on 2040-cars
Surprise, Arizona, United States
1957 Chevy Bel Air 2 Door Hardtop Unmolested Original Survivor / Low Reserve This is a 1957 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop that has spent the majority of its life in the sunny weather of Arizona. I purchased this car recently in a package deal from the second owner’s family with documentation going back to the 1970’s. This has been parked in the same garage without moving for over a decade. Overall it’s a very complete vehicle with all original parts, still has the original keys from Chevrolet The previous owner had this car taken down to bare metal, while doing this there was a rusty drivers side rocker and a small piece behind the passenger side door which I hear is common on this make and model. A skilled metal worker replaced these pieces using Danchuk parts. This car was shot with black to prevent the elements from getting to the steel. Overall the body seems to be very solid but the driver’s side quarter needs work to be arrow straight. Engine is a 283 with a three speed trans, I’m unsure if it’s a correct numbers matching motor. Original paint is still on the dash, interior trim pieces ect. Car was never repainted and still shows the factory over spray underneath. As you can see from the photos this still has the original under coating from Chevrolet back in 1957. Nice under carriage, like I said this is very honest original car with loads of potential. This is a very
complete project car, and would be very easily finished into a real nice
classic. Side glass is in good shape
along with the rear. Unfortunately the
front windshield was cracked during transport and will need to be replaced. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, located in north Peoria / Surprise area. This car is being advertised locally and I reserve the right to end auction early. Very low and reasonable reserve. Contact Kevin @ (623)826-1024 for questions. More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1
Thu, 28 Feb 2013During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.
2014 Chevrolet Malibu gets more torque, more room and inspiration from the Impala
Fri, 31 May 2013The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, having stared at the Impala across the showroom floor for a year, gets nips and tucks all over inspired by its larger brother. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the base car will get a stop-start system and 23 city miles per gallon, 35 highway, each number representing a one-mpg improvement over the 2013 car. Output is 196 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque.
Opt for the 2.0-liter turbo and, while power holds steady at 259 hp, torque goes up by 14 percent to a striking 295 lb-ft (a figure Chevy calls best in the class). The final details include newly programmed transmission shift points and faster shifts, for better engaging and enjoying the added power.
Looks-wise, the grille's been reshaped to be more in line with the new Chevrolet look, a narrower upper grille hovering over a larger lower grille.
Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction
Sun, 17 Feb 2013It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
