1957 Chevrolet "Black Widow". This is a very rare and special car. It started out life as an Oregon State Patrol car out of Baker Oregon. It was found in a barn in Walla Walla Washington where it had been stored for 32 years with a total of 42,000 miles. It was transformed into a Black Widow by someone very familiar with NASCAR having spent 10 years with legends like Junior Johnson, Ralph Moody of Holman Moody, and Skoal Bandit racing. Tiger Tom Pisone, who drove Black Widows at NASCAR, was consulted for the build. This 57 has a seamless boxed frame with all original sheet metal including all body and floor panels. No patching was done or needed. During the body off restoration every nut and bolt was replaced. Every part was removed and meticulouly restored to correct original paint codes from top to bottom. The 57 has one piece bumpers as well as all original stainless. The 1957 283 is fitted with a numbers matching fuel injection unit with extremely rare 5" Black Widow Air intake and Fenton Cast Iron 4 head pipe stainless steel header system. The engine was built, blueprinted, and run on a Super Flo 901 Dyno. The 283 makes 353 hp. The 3 speed w/overdrive, 4:11 posi rear end, suspension, wiring, glass, interior, gauges, etc. all disassembled, rebuilt or replaced as needed. The car comes with a photo album of the restoration. This is a one of a kind car for sale at a fraction of the cost to build. The paint and body work are flawless. It has never seen water since restoration. This car runs perfectly and needs nothing. Call or e-mail if you need more information or pictures. I am a long time acquaintance of the owner/builder and am listing it for him. If you buy this car at auction and come to pick it up and not totally satisfied you don't have to buy it. I reserve the right to end the auction early. There are no warrantees written or implied. Thanks for looking! 360 459 4516. |

Here's why automakers roll out those Texas-themed pickup trucks
Thu, Sep 29 2016Every year, automakers with a full-size truck link make a big show of the Texas State Fair, usually involving a reveal of a new model. Sometimes they show a whole new truck, and other times a special edition centered on the Lone Star state. While some people might write this off as a quirk of the industry, others might be wondering, "What's the big deal with Texas?" As it turns out, part of the big deal with Texas is big truck sales. According to Dave Sullivan, product analysis manager at AutoPacific, Texas buys more trucks than any other state in the country. It's not a small margin either. Edmunds.com, one in five trucks sold in the US are sold in Texas. The state also accounts for 15 percent of the country's large truck sales, which is more than twice that of California, the second largest truck market in America. Even when you break down sales only in Texas, trucks are a huge piece of the pie - Sullivan says that a quarter of new vehicle sales in Texas are trucks. One in five trucks sold in the US are sold in Texas. But it's not just sales that make truck builders give attention to Texas. As Sullivan explained, "Pickups are life in Texas." Both he and Hugh Milne, marketing and advertising manager for the Chevy Silverado line, said that trucks are key fixtures in Texas society, as both work trucks and luxury vehicles (or Texas Cadillacs as Milne called them). Milne said Texas is so important in the truck market that if you want to be successful in the rest of the country, "you've got to be successful in Texas." As for the State Fair, it has become a prime location for reveals in part because of the importance of the Texas market and because of how big the fair is. Milne also revealed that the State Fair also hosts its own auto show, so it's an ideal venue for a vehicle introduction. So there you have it. Why do truck builders obsess over Texas? It's because Texas obsesses over trucks. When you have one market that loves your product that much, you give it the attention it deserves. Corvette Stingray Convertible images mysteriously appear on web, so we add our own
Tue, 22 Jan 2013It was inevitable that we'd see the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray topless at some point, but that didn't make us any less interested when a pair of supposedly leaked official images showed up on theautoinsiderblog.com last week. We posted them on our Facebook page, but held off reporting on them here until we could get a little more information.
Those images, which feature a dark red car on a sterile black studio background, supposedly first appeared on the website of diecast model maker Maisto. A Chevrolet spokesman has been reported saying that they are "not official images released by Chevrolet PR," which isn't a denial they're the real deal, but neither is it a confirmation.
Close examination of the photos suggest they could be official shots of the Corvette Stingray Convertible, and while some have doubted their authenticity due to a lack of vents (which were seen on the C7s that debuted in Detroit last week), it could be that the images are of a base model car without the Z51 package that doesn't require the extra venting and cooling.
