 VERY ORIGINAL 1956 CHEVROLET 210

You are looking / bidding on a very original 1956 Chevy 210. This car was brought up from Florida about 1 year ago and is an excellent example of a 56 chevy 210. Vehicle has ORIGINAL DEALER SALES INVOICE stating options, vehicle id number and engine number along with original selling dealer (see pictures)

Car has 72,000 original miles on body and engine. Has the original 140 CID Blue Flame engine.

Specifics as follows:

  • Vehicle Identification Number - B56S186754
  • Engine ID Number - 0102733 F56Y
  • 72,000 original miles
  • Car was optioned with Radio delete
  • Everything on this car works as it should, every light, every gauge, etc. Only thing I could find was the turn signals do not automatically cancel, you need to cancel manually.

BODY

  • Original color - two tone green. (see pictures for photo of car with original paint)
  • Current paint is nice, not perfect. Few blemishes and some small dings, but is nice for car shows and cruises. Car is driven regularly so normal wear and tear is expected.
  • As far I can tell, all original sheet metal and no areas full of bondo, very solid.
  • Chrome is in excellent condition. Rear bumper has small blemish and chrome on hood has some pits. Aside from that, Chrome is in great shape and looks to be original pieces, not repops.
  • Door gaps are all good, great sheet metal alignment.
  • Body is very straight.

INTERIOR

  • Interior in excellent shape.
  • Seats are in great condition, no rips or tears.
  • Carpet in great condition, no stains or tears.
  • Dash chrome in great condition.
  • All gauges work properly
  • All interior lights work as they should
  • Factory radio delete plate. But yes they did put a radio antenna on the car, guess they had to fill the hole with something at the factory

ENGINE

  • Original numbers matching 140 CID Blue Flame 6 cyl engine.
  • Starts up and runs great.
  • No smoke, knocking, etc.
  • Runs down the road great
  • Transmission shifts great
  • No oil leaks
  • Radiator in great shape, no leaks
  • Mechanically this car is ready to drive anywhere

BRAKES

  • Front brakes HAVE BEEN CONVERTED TO DISC BRAKES
  • Rear still original drums
  • Manual brakes, but stops excellent and great pedal

FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE NOT ORIGINAL / MODIFIED FROM ORIGINAL

  • Front brakes were changed over to disc
  • Generator replaced with alternator
  • Wiper motor changed from vacuum to electric
  • Aftermarket rims and tires

This is a great example of what a 1956 chevy 210 should look like when it came from the factory. Has not been cut up or typical 350 installed. Runs down the road great and is a lot of fun to drive.

Car can be inspected by appointment and is located zip code 48507

* Buyer responsible for shipping arrangements - domestic / international

Thanks for looking.

GM veteran Bryan Nesbitt tapped to head Buick design

Sat, Jun 6 2015

General Motors styling veteran Bryan Nesbitt (pictured above) took over a new role on Monday as executive director of global Buick design and global architectures. Andrew Smith, who previously did that job and also coordinated the look for Cadillac, has remained in charge of the pen at Caddy with this shift. Nesbitt rose to prominence when he designed the Chrysler PT Cruiser, according to Automotive News. He joined GM in 2001 and has been there ever since in multiple high-level roles. In 2007, he was appointed vice president of design for North America and was later briefly general manager of Cadillac in 2009-2010. Nesbitt took over as the vice president of GM's international operations design in China in 2011. This shuffle also moves Ken Parkinson, currently styling boss for Chevrolet trucks, to China as design vice president there. In addition, John Cafaro becomes the person in charge of the look for Chevy globally, rather than previously splitting that role between cars and trucks with Parkinson. GM Global Design Leadership Changes – effective June 1, 2015. Bryan Nesbitt, Design Vice President, GM China will repatriate to North America and assume the position of Executive Director, Global Buick and Global Architectures. He will be located in Warren, MI. Bryan will be the design Champion for Buick in the US and China. Ken Parkinson, Executive Director, Global Chevrolet Trucks and Global Architecture will assume the position of Design Vice President, GM China. He will be based in Shanghai, China. Andrew Smith, Executive Director, Global Cadillac and Buick Design will assume the position of Executive Director, Global Cadillac. He will continue to be the design Champion for the Cadillac brand. In addition, he will continue to lead the Global Color & Trim team. He will be based in Warren, Michigan. John Cafaro, Executive Director, Global Chevrolet Cars will assume the position of Executive Director, Global Chevrolet. He will be the design Champion for Chevrolet. In addition, John will lead the exterior components and accessories team. He will continue to be based in Warren, MI. The roles and responsibilities of Helen Emsley, Mark Adams, Carlos Barba, Clay Dean, Michael Simcoe, and Teckla Rhoades remain the same. Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Detroit Auto Show [w/poll]

Wed, Jan 14 2015

Here at Autoblog, we love unexpected debuts at auto shows – and judging by our Detroit Auto Show comments and traffic, you do, too. Surprise reveals have been fewer and farther between in recent years with so many ways for vehicles to be teased or leak out, but this week's show has been a revelation. More to the point, it's been a series of revelations, with automakers from around the globe successfully delivering a brace of concept and production surprises. It's made our jobs a lot more exciting and challenging this week, and even though it's actually more work to react and run-and-gun when the sheet is pulled on a surprise reveal than it is to publish an already-written embargoed story, we've had more fun covering this show for you than any domestic show in memory. We hope you've enjoyed the surprises along with us. To that end, borrowing the words of an unnamed automaker PR flack, we'd like to thank the following automakers for enduring "mountain of antacids" and that "creeping sense of paranoia" necessary to keeping ones' wares totally under wraps until the sheets are pulled off the sheetmetal: Buick Avenir concept Chevrolet Bolt concept Ford GT concept Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Hyundai HCD-15 Santa Cruz concept And while we're at it, we'd like to throw in an shout-out to Detroit's substantially revised and revitalized Cobo Center, and in particular, the redone Michelin media center, which is arguably the single best accommodations for writing show stories that we've encountered on the entire international circuit. Well done, everyone. Thank you, and keep the surprises coming. Auto News Detroit Auto Show Buick Chevrolet Ford Hyundai Volvo 2015 Detroit Auto Show

Frustrated GM investors ask what more Mary Barra can do

Mon, Oct 22 2018

DETROIT — General Motors Co Chief Executive Mary Barra has transformed the No. 1 U.S. automaker in her almost five years in charge, but that is still not enough to satisfy investors. Ahead of third-quarter results due on Oct. 31, GM shares are trading about 6 percent below the $33 per share price at which they launched in 2010 in a post-bankruptcy initial public offering. The Detroit carmaker's stock is down 22 percent since Barra took over in January 2014. After hitting an all-time high of $46.48 on Oct. 24, 2017, the shares have declined 33 percent. In the same period, the Standard & Poor's 500 index has climbed 7.8 percent. Several shareholders contacted by Reuters said GM could face a third major action by activist shareholders in less than four years if the share price does not improve. "I've been expecting it," said John Levin, chairman of Levin Capital Strategies. "It just seems a tempting morsel to somebody." Levin's firm owns more than seven million GM shares. Barra has guided the company through the settlement of a federal criminal probe of a mishandled safety recall, sold off money-losing European operations, and returned $25 billion to shareholders through dividends and stock buybacks from 2012 through 2017. GM declined to comment for this story, but the company's executives privately express frustration with the market's reluctance to see it as anything more than a manufacturer tied mainly to auto market sales cycles. GM's profitable North American truck and SUV business and its money-making China operations are valued at just $14 billion, excluding the value of GM's stake in its $14.6 billion Cruise automated vehicle business and its cash reserves from its $44 billion market capitalization. The recent slump in the Chinese market, GM's largest, and plateauing U.S. demand are ratcheting up the pressure. GM is one of the few global automakers without a founding family or a government to serve as a bulwark against corporate raiders. In 2015, a group led by investor Harry Wilson pressed GM to launch a $5 billion share buyback, and commit to what is now an $18 billion ceiling on the level of cash the company would hold. In 2017, GM fended off a call by hedge fund manager David Einhorn to split its common stock shares into two classes. Einhorn, whose firm still owned more than 21 million shares at the end of June, declined to comment about GM's stock price. Other investors said there were no clear alternatives to Barra's approach.
