Here we have a beautiful 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible in body on, restored condition.  This car was restored in 2007 in Colorado and shows beautifully. The restoration was expertly carried out as evident of its beautiful appearance.  This Bel Air has 3325 miles since it has been restored and always garaged in San Clemente, CA, buy the current owner.  There is a clear title and the vehicle registration is paid through February 2014.

The drive train is the original power pack engine, 265 cubic inch, 4-barrel carburetor, and dual exhaust.  The engine has the correct, one year only, red finish.  This color was only used on the 1956, 265 cubic inch V-8 engines.  The engine and transmission have been rebuilt  The front brakes were upgraded to power disc brakes for stopping safety.  All mechanical and safety systems were reconditioned at the time of restoration and function properly.  For a slight custom look the front suspension has 2" drop spindles and the rear has 2" lowering blocks giving this Bel Air a great stance and a right look.  The original suspension parts are available.  The original wire wheel caps were dealer installed at the time of the vehicle purchase.  Receipts are available for parts and services verifying the cost to create this fantastic restoration.

The two tone paint, Nassau Blue and India Ivory, is smooth, level and in superb condition.  The paint and entire car has been waxed and detailed.  All bright and chrome work has been re-plated with only very minor clouding of two piece around the area of the front directional lights.  These areas may be buffed out to remove the issues.  There is a very tiny nick in the chrome lip trim on the front of the hood, it is about 1/8" long and it is difficult to notice. The electric clock has a cut-off switch so it does not drain the battery.  There is the original Wonder-Bar AM radio and all of the original brake and suspension components included in the sale of the car.  The windshield wipers have been removed and the threaded shafts have chrome caps installed.

The interior is in excellent unworn condition, all fabrics, vinyls and padded dash are defect free, the steering wheel has been restored, the convertible top is in "as new" condition.  All gauges work correctly, horn, indicator lights, and turn signals, are in working order.  Vintage spot lights are installed and working, the radio is an AM/FM CD player unit.  The power convertible top operates correctly, the plastic back window zipper works and the plastic window is scratch free.  All of the glass is scratch free and clear, windows are fully operational.  The chassis is damage and corrosion free, with a black finish.  This car has an outstanding presence and appearance.  Please review all of the pictures to determine condition of the vehicle.  Please ask questions if you are unsure of any features or condition on this car.

2016 Lamborghini Huracan at the Horse Thief Mile | AutoblogVR

Tue, Sep 13 2016

AutoblogVR returns to the Horse Thief Mile in the Mojave Desert to put the Lamborghini Huracan to the test. It's everything we want a modern supercar to be: Powerful, striking in appearance, and a riot to drive. But does it live up to Lamborghini's unique performance heritage? Senior Editor Greg Migliore reviews the Huracan on Horse Thief's unyielding curves and elevation changes to find out. Meanwhile, Autoblog Editor-in-Chief Mike Austin reviews a different kind of performance car – the Chevy SS at the IndyCar circuit on Detroit's Belle Isle. He's ably assisted by ace driver Simon Pagenaud. You must watch his hot lap! The SS is old-school V8 American muscle wrapped in Australian design and engineering. This AutoblogVR segment also launches on the app Sept. 13, and the teaser follows the Huracan preview above. Each week, new episodes will launch on the AutoblogVR App. We'll preview them here on Autoblog, but for the full immersive experience, head over to the app, which you can download for free from the App store and Google Play. Weekly Recap: Autonomous driving goes commercial in Nevada

Sat, May 9 2015

Nevada granted Daimler Trucks North America the first license to run an autonomous commercial vehicle on public roads in the United States Tuesday, marking another milestone in the technology's rapid advancement. Gov. Brian Sandoval and Daimler truck chief Wolfgang Bernhard promptly used the license to lap Highway 15 near Las Vegas in a newly revealed Freightliner Inspiration Truck. It was a clear signal that autonomous driving is big-rig reality, though it's still a long way from widespread use. Nevada certified two of Daimler's Freightliner Inspiration Trucks, which use the company's Highway Pilot system with a stereo camera, radar, and lane-keeping collision-prevention features to regulate the brakes and steering. The radar component has a long-range sensor that can cover 820 feet at an 18-degree angle and a shorter-range unit that stretches 230 feet at a 130-degree angle. The Inspiration trucks are based on the existing Freightliner Cascadia Evolution model used on US roads. In addition to the autonomous technologies, it also has futuristic design cues, including blue lighting in the front and a new hood and grille. While there are only two Freightliner Inspiration trucks in existence, Daimler expects to bring the Highway Pilot system into mass-produced big rigs by 2025, in time to capitalize on the market's predicted growth. The German truckmaker predicts the global hauling market will triple by 2050, and the United States will be a key part of that growth. Trucks carry 69.1 percent the nation's domestic freight tonnage and hauled 9.7 billion tons of freight in 2013, according to the American Trucking Association. Daimler expects autonomous driving to augment this growth, and perhaps evolve the role of the truck driver. Still, the company points out autonomous tech is not meant to replace drivers, but to assist them and relieve fatigue and monotony on long hauls. The driver has to stay in control for passing, in city traffic, and when hooking up the trailer. The company said autonomous driving also offers the potential for improved fuel economy – tests showed a five-percent gain – and lower maintenance costs. Daimler also said the technology could reduce congestion on the road. Much of this is attributable to the constant flow of traffic, which is aided by autonomous driving. While the benefits are becoming increasingly apparent, autonomous technology is still met with skepticism.

GM sees 'strong year' in 2018, then gold in Chevy Silverado for 2019

Tue, Jan 16 2018

DETROIT — General Motors said on Tuesday it expects earnings in 2018 to be largely flat compared with 2017, but that profits should pick up pace in 2019 as its revamped line of high-margin pickup trucks hits the U.S. market. The 2018 earnings outlook was above market expectations, sending GM shares up more than 3 percent in premarket trading. "GM had a very good 2017 as we continued to transform our company to be more focused, resilient and profitable," GM Chief Executive Mary Barra said in a statement. "We are positioned for another strong year in 2018 and an even better one in 2019." GM and its Detroit rivals, Ford and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, are bringing on new trucks at a time when overall U.S. new vehicle sales have been falling, but truck sales continue to grow as consumers abandon passenger cars in favor of pickups, SUVs and crossovers. GM on Saturday fired a new round in the battle for profits from one of the U.S. auto industry's most lucrative segments when it showed a new generation of its Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck at the Detroit auto show. The new Silverado, a highlight of the event, is the successor to GM's best-selling vehicle in North America. Sales of the current Silverado rose nearly 2 percent to 585,000 vehicles in 2017. In the coming months, the company will also reveal a revamped GMC Sierra pickup truck. U.S. new vehicle sales fell 2 percent in 2017 after hitting a record high in 2016, and are expected to drop further in 2018 as interest rates rise and more late-model used cars return to dealer lots to compete with new ones. GM said on Tuesday that while it retools a factory in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, to make the new pickup trucks, it will shift some production to an Oshawa, Ontario, plant in order to avoid missing sales in a hot market for the vehicles. The No. 1 U.S. automaker said it will record a $7 billion non-cash charge for its fourth-quarter 2017 earnings related to deferred tax assets. GM said it expects capital expenditure in 2018 of around $8.5 billion, about $1 billion of which will go toward funding self-driving car technology. Last week, the company said it is seeking U.S. government approval for a fully autonomous car — one without a steering wheel, brake pedal or accelerator pedal — to enter the automaker's first commercial ride-sharing fleet in 2019. GM said it expects 2017 earnings per share at the high end of its previously forecast range of $6 to $6.50.
