This 1956 Chevy is a rare find. It is a former World of Wheels show car. It has led a pampered life, and has become a Sunday cruiser in the summer months. This 56 is completely solid. Since its restoration in the ‘80s, it has never been out in the winter, not even been out in the rain, and completely garage kept. The car has perfect stainless and polished chrome, with aluminum sheet metal covering most of its underside. The floors are flawless and 100% solid, along with the frame. The rear frame has been narrowed and tubbed to fit Mickey Thompson’s 33X19.5-15LT tires, and is complemented by a Chevy 12bolt narrowed rear end and springs. The 56 has a Chevy 350 with an original Don Garlits fake fuel injection set-up covering the Holley four barrel. Garlits monogram is engraved in the top of the unit. The car has perfect weather stripping and moldings, and you will find the Optima battery hidden in the trunk above the narrowed rear end. A frenched power antenna resides on the driver’s side rear quarter. The interior of the car is full leather, including: seats, door panels, deck panel, rear panels, and trunk panels.

Now, there are a few flaws. As with any car that has been driven, you will find a few minor marks in the finish. The lacquer paint has a few areas where it has checked or cracked. Please see the photos as I have made sure to take pictures of the flaws. There is also a flaw above the right rear wheel and a few spots on hood. Please see photos.

We have taken this 56 a couple of times to the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit, MI. It definitely is an attention getter, even surrounded by thousands of other cars. This is a great car. Please check out my feedback. Feel free to call with any questions. 614-738-4864. (Brent)

I am not interested in any trades. Please bid only if you are a serious buyer. $500.00 paypal deposit due within 24 hours of end of auction. The remainder needs to be in cash or wire transfer upon pick-up. I have a clear title ready to go. This car is for sale locally. I reserve the right to end the auction early. Happy BiddingJ

2016 Chevy Volt will not need premium gas

Wed, Oct 29 2014

Buried in the new technical details of the 2016 Chevy Volt released yesterday was a throwaway line about a small but important change that's due to the new 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. The first-gen Volt has always required premium gas but the new powerplant will be happy burning plain old regular. The Volt's chief engineer, Andrew Farah, told AutoblogGreen that the change was due to today's Volt owners explaining they were not happy paying for top-shelf petroleum. "The ability to use regular unleaded was based directly on customer feedback," he said. "Since the range extender is an all-new engine, it was optimized to use regular unleaded at the outset. Using regular fuel will not have effect on vehicle acceleration or other performance factors." As Larry Nitz, GM's executive director of vehicle electrification, told AutoblogGreen yesterday, the new engine is more powerful and quieter than the outgoing 1.4-liter engine that's used in the current Volt. Fuel economy and EV range specs for the next-gen Volt are not expected until the full car is revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

China's rise, global restructuring wither GM's Korea division

Wed, Jan 7 2015

An article in the Daily Kanban suggests the sun is setting on GM Korea, and it could already be well into dusk. GM Korea came about when General Motors, along with co-investors SAIC and Suzuki, bought Daewoo Motors from parent company Daewoo Group in 2001; it had a previous tie-up with GM, a joint venture that ended in 1992, although Daewoo cars were based on GM cars until 1996. Over the decade following the purchase, it became such an important part of operations that it was renamed GM Korea in 2011, "to reflect its heightened status in [the] global operations of GM." Just two years later, the printed rumors were that the subsidiary responsible for a fifth of Chevrolet's global production could be shutting down. The division's sales were down almost 21 percent through November of last year, counting domestic South Korean sales, exports, and CKD – Complete Knock Down – products. That makes the labor strife, already an issue for four years, even more acute, reports say the subsidiary will lose $36 million a year if it can't get the job and wage cuts it wants, and government concessions can't make up for the losses. And it gets worse, so head over to Daily Kanban to read the rest of the story.

Star Wars Car Drives To The Dark Side Of Comic Con

Tue, Jul 22 2014

When it comes to designing coveted collectible toys for sale at Comic-Con, the annual celebration of pop culture lifting off Thursday in San Diego, the sky's the limit for the designers at Mattel. Fittingly, the building where Mattel's dreamers conceive of their limited-edition playthings is just down the street from the Los Angeles International Airport. Inside the colorful design center - a Hot Wheels-themed shuttle bus transports employees from Mattel's parking garage - the designers have spent the past year working on 10 toys created especially for the Comic-Con crowd, including a replica of the Batmobile from the upcoming game "Batman: Arkham Knight" and a 9-inch-tall action figure of Superman killer Doomsday. "We don't have to worry about retail. We don't have to worry about margins," said Doug Wadleigh, Mattel's senior vice president of global brand marketing for boys and entertainment. "We don't have to worry about operational efficiencies. We only have to worry about creating the coolest toys for our fans. Period." It also offers some escape from Mattel's reality these days. Like other toy makers struggling in this digital, video-centric age, the company is trying to remain relevant in the retail world. Core brands like Barbie have seen less of a demand, with a 14 percent drop in sales in the first quarter of this year. Mattel had a net loss for the first three months ending March 31 that totaled $11.2 million. But things will at least seem rosier at Comic-Con, where eager buyers for the toys await (the only other place they will be sold is on the Mattel collector's site). Mattel's exclusives this year run between $20 and $85, but elite toys can fetch much more when they're put up for auction. The crown jewel for Wadleigh and his team this year is a Darth Vader die-cast car, the first official collaboration from Hot Wheels and the "Star Wars" franchise. The car - imagine if a Chevrolet Corvette C5 and the villainous Sith lord's helmet had a baby - comes in a sleek black box and encased in a replica of Vader's lightsaber, complete with a swooshing sound effect. "We've been trying to partner with Lucasfilm and Disney on this property for a long time," said Wadleigh. A full-size working replica of the Vadermobile will be on display at Mattel's booth at the massive San Diego Convention Center.
