1955 Chevy Two Door Wagon! Head Turner!

Thanks for checking out this cool ride offered by M.E.S. Motorsports; where our cars are notorious for Making Everyone Stare! What we have for sale here is a very solid 1955 Chevy Two Door 150/210/Handyman wagon. The car runs really well and looks sweet cruising down the road but has not been frame off restored. This is a driver quality car that can be taken to the next level or simply enjoyed as is. Don't even think about buying this one if you don't like attention as it draws a crowd EVERYWHERE! Please have funds or financing lined up before bidding. We may consider interesting trades on this one but please be serious in any trade offers. Please read description fully before asking questions as we try to be very descriptive in our listings. Now on to the good stuff!

History – We picked up the car from a gentleman in MO. He stated that it was a Texas car which was the reason for virtually no rust.

Drivetrain – This wagon is powered by a smooth running 350 V8. She felt a little sluggish when we got it so we put on a new Edelbrock intake manifold matched with a 4 barrel Edelrock carburetor. Now its moving down the road like it should. The motor appears stock internally and has cherry bomb exhaust. It's matched with 350 Turbo transmission with a T handle shifter. We reconnected the kick down cable as well. We changed the plugs, oil, transmission and brake fluids along with a coolant flush which mean this one is ready for the road!

Exterior – Overall this wagon has a straight body but with an amateur/driver quality paint job. It could stand to be repainted to take it to the next level. It's not the most expensive paint job and the prep was less than perfect but it is a neat color. There are some dings and chips here and there with some body filler in a few places as well. It appears that car was not block sanded before paint. Chrome is in really good condition. We installed new inner weather stripping around the two front doors and new window felt in the roll down front windows. It could still use new weather stripping at the front corner window glass along with the back door as well as the outer stripping around the exterior glass. All the glass is in good shape. The windows are tinted and it could stand to be removed.

Underneath - The chassis is very solid and mostly rust free except for some minor rust in the front floor plans and spare tire area(see pics). They floors were temporarily patched with some sheet metal before the carpet was installed. Not very major and could be left alone or repaired if you wanted to paint the car. The whole underneath appears to have been painted with black paint and looks pretty good.

Interior – The interior is very clean and appears to have been redone not too long ago. Front and rear bench seats in great shape. Nice black carpet and nice black headliner. Dash was painted black and looks pretty good but not perfect. There is currently no radio but the dash was cut previously for one. There is also currently no heat or AC. Heater has been removed. Speedometer and gas gauge work. We also just installed a new sending unit in the gas tank.

Chassis/Suspension - Basically stock although we did just lower it approximately 2 inches. Cut two coils off the front springs and used 2" blocks on the rear. Rides nicely and looks awesome! Manual steering and drum brakes but is very easy to drive and stops really well. Brakes were just bled with new brake fluid.

Wheels/tires – New 17" REV wheels all the way around with brand new staggered Nexen rubber.

Known issues not mentioned above – Like most vintage cars, it seems to drip a little oil when sitting. When the transmission is really cold, may have to rev the engine before it drops into gear.

Title - Clean and clear SC title in my possession.

About us - M.E.S. Motorsports, LLC was founded and started by myself and my best friend of almost 30 years now. While M.E.S. was “officially” put into action around 2012, it really started back in the 90’s during our high school days. Even back then we were in each other’s garage every weekend working on our cars. We have always shared the same enthusiasm for that one thing…..Automobiles!  Hot rods, classics, customs, sports cars, fast cars, loud cars, basically anything with 4 wheels and an engine. For as long as I can remember we’ve always enjoyed “playing” with cars and recently decided to share our passion and creativity with others and thus M.E.S. Motorsports, LLC was officially launched . At this time we are not licensed car dealers but rather auto enthusiasts with a passion for buying and selling cars to and from other auto enthusiasts and collectors.  Our goal is to sell cars that you can actually get into and drive anywhere!  We believe that cars are actually meant to be driven on the road and not just stored. A lot of the cars that we find are from individuals who are simply not using them anymore or that started restoring them but never finished. Some cars may just need some cleaning and a tune up while other may need paint or finish work. Whatever the case is, we try to address any issues and get them road worthy. We hate to see any car just sitting, rotting or not being used. We believe that everyone out there should have the car of their dreams and that they should be able to drive it anywhere they want to go!

GM announces 3 new recalls affecting 1.7M vehicles in North America [w/video]

Mon, Mar 17 2014

Still embroiled in the ongoing ignition switch recall, General Motors announced today three more discrete recalls, affecting a grand total of 1,546,900 vehicles in the US. The Detroit News reports that some 1.7 million vehicles are affected overall in North America. The first and largest of the trio of new recalls concerns some 1.18-million Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia crossovers from the 2008-2013 model years, Chevrolet Traverse from 2009-2013 (pictured above) and Saturn Outlook vehicles from 2008-2010. All of the crossover utilities may have an issue with the wiring harness for their seat-mounted side airbags. Apparently, the vehicles are equipped with a Service Air Bag warning light that, if ignored, "will eventually result in the non-deployment of the side impact restraints." Those restraints include the side airbags, a front-center airbag if the vehicle is so equipped and seatbelt pretensioners. Dealers of affected vehicles will be instructed to remove driver and passenger side airbag wiring harness connectors, and then "splice and solder the wires together." The second recall affects 303,000 Chevrolet Express (pictured right) and GMC Savana vans from model years 2009-2014, and with gross vehicle weights under 10,000 pounds. Said vehicles do not comply with a head impact requirement for unrestrained occupants, and will need a reworking of the instrument panel material to be sent back on the road. It doesn't sound as though there's a quick fix for this one, as the GM press release states: "Unsold vehicles have been placed on a stop delivery until development of the solution has been completed and parts are available." Finally, the third recall affects 63,900 Cadillac XTS luxury sedans from model years 2013 and 2014. A brake booster pump may be susceptible to corrosion by way of the relay, potentially causing and electrical short, overheating, melting of plastic components and even engine fires. GM says it is aware of two engine fires in unsold XTS models and two cases of melted parts. Repairs for the issues affecting the XTS have not not mentioned by GM in the release. The Detroit News is also reporting that along with news of the triple-recall, GM is taking a $300-million credit to help pay for the repair costs, and to deal with the ongoing costs associated with the ignition switch recall. In an attempt to explain just what GM has been doing in the face of these very serious issues, newly minted CEO Mary Barra has addressed the issues in a new video.

1983 Motorweek showdown pits Porsche 928S vs. Chevy Camaro Z28

Mon, Jan 12 2015

Last month, Motor Trend threw the Camaro Z/28 and Porsche 911 GT3 into the bear pit and let them fight it out. Way back in 1983, MotorWeek had the same idea, comparing the Camaro Z/28 to the Porsche 928S. At the time, the Camaro was America's best selling sports coupe, the 928S was Porsche's top-of-the-line model that also had the highest top speed of any car sold here. And the price differential was even more stark then: $13,600 for the Camaro, $45,000 for the Porsche. That put the Z/28's cast-iron, 5.0-liter V8 with 190 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque against the all-aluminum 4.7-liter V8 with 234 hp and 263 lb-ft in the 928S. Even with that and the Camaro being 14 inches longer than the Porsche, the American was a surprising 40 pounds lighter than the German. The show took them to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia to see how close a relative performance bargain could hang with a the German GT. Both had five-speed manual transmissions, but the high-speed corners and tight sections of Summit Point would test other handling variables, including the "bone-rattling" Camaro's solid rear axle and disc and drum brake setup vis-a-vis the four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension on the "firm-but-smooth" Porsche. Paradoxically, the larger disparity 22 years ago resulted in a closer result. Check out the video to see how the Summit was won. Looking back at the Citation IV concept that likely shaped the GM EV1

Wed, Aug 20 2014

Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. We're not sure how that applies to the GM EV1, but we'd still like to share something from Autoline Daily, an online automotive new show with our friend John McElroy. He's been covering the business for decades now and recently found something interesting: pictures of the 1984 Chevrolet Citation IV concept, seen above. Displayed half a decade before the first electric concept that would become the EV1 (inset), McElroy says it's now clear that the elegant, aerodynamic EV1 took a lot of styling cues from the Citation IV, which was developed in part thanks to GM's new-at-the-time Aerodynamics Laboratory. We agree with him that the spats over the rear wheels, the flush glass, and the covered headlights all bear a certain kind of similarity between the two cars. That the colors almost match is a nice coincidence. The Impact (the concept version of the EV1) looked "frumpier," McElroy says, because it wasn't as long as the Citation. You can read a lot more about the Citation IV here and check out McElroy's thoughts in the video below. Find the Citation starting at around 3:45. This content is hosted by a third party.
