1955 Chevy 2 door hardtop project, let me start out by saying that this car was a barn find, a real barn find. The car is just like it is in the pictures. I took these pictures the day I got it out the garage, and the car is just like it Is in the pictures, with the exception that I took the ugly tow bar setup off the front end and changed the wheels and tires so that I could move it around. What you will be getting is the car in the pictures with all you see with the exception of the tow bar and those certain wheels and tires. The car is right now sitting in my garage still covered in dust and dirt, untouched. This is a factory V8 2 door hardtop. Its my understanding that the car was used to play around on the weekends a little, and the motor was messed up and they took it out to either fix it or get another but never got around to doing that and the car sat since then. I have no real clue of just how long the car has been sitting, but from the layers of dust the car has been sitting for a very very long time. I will say this, the car is only showing 8k miles on it, but I don't know these miles to be true to the car, nor do I want to represent the car as having that many miles. I simple want to let you know how many miles the car is showing and let you look at the pictures of the car and let you draw your own opinion about it.  The car is missing the motor, but their is a transmission and driveshaft in the car. The body on the car is in really great shape considering the age of the car and all, but you have to think that its been parked most all its life. The car does have some rust, from what I can see, the hood and trunk lid are right close to being perfect, no bubbles or rust that I can tell. The front fenders appear to be the same with no rust coming up. Both outside rockers appear to have bubbles but nothing major as in holes or anything that I can tell. The driver side door does have some small rust bubbles on the bottom edge, but the inner structure has no rust at all, and I even took a picture and posted so that you can see that. I believe that the driver side door can be fixed really easy. The passenger side door is a little bit more rougher, and its my opinion that a lower door skin patch is needed for that side. In front of the rear tire on both sides on the quarters have just a couple small bubbles coming up, nothing major that I can tell. Also on the quarters  on both sides behind the tires their appears to be no rust at all. The trunk area and in side the spare tire mount appear to be very solid, with only a couple small pin holes on the driver side trunk floor coming through now, very easy fixes in my opinion, and the car shouldn't need a full trunk floor patch at all. The floor pans on the car, appear to be very good, the car looked to have some small holes coming through, but by no means the floors didn't appear to be giant holes or anything like that. I have a few pictures of the carpet pulled up and all and some of the underside, that I can send to you if you would like to see them, but I didn't have enough room to post any more pictures on here. One or two of the floor braces will need to be replaced because they appeared to have some rust holes coming up. And I would rather tell you they need replacing then to tell you they can be easily fixed.  I would rather tell you everything about the car that I know of, then to miss lead you and the car not be what it is when you get it to your place and start work on restoring the car. The car is an amazing project the car, and a very outstanding start for someone. The interior of the car is right close to being perfect. I believe that with some cleaning you wouldn't need to replace the coverings on the seats at all. With that being said all the door panels look great as well with the exception of the drivers side door, you can see in the pictures the armrest was ripped at some point and over time as fallen more and more down. The dash on the car is all original and uncut. At some point someone did hang some aftermarket gauges under the dash but certainly not in the dash. The trim and stainless all around the car looks just about perfect. Of course their are a few places that one or two pieces has a small dent or scratch, but you have to understand how old the car is. The bumpers are by far the worst chrome pieces on the car, and will need to be redone. All other trim can possible be used if someone wanted that very good driver quality appearance. The only things that I know the car to be missing is the factory v8 emblems below the rear tail lights, one sunvisor, but I have the chrome piece that swivels, also two original hubcaps. The car has roll around wheels that stay with the car, but I have two of the original hubcaps for the car, but not a full set. Like I said, I would rather try and tell you everything about the car, then miss lead you or not tell you. But everything that I have mentioned above you can see in pictures of the car very clearly, and see just what your getting, I believe that their isn't anything to hide, and you will be getting a great car to restore and build that dream car for yourself. The car is for sale locally and is subject to be taken off if sold. A 25% deposit is due within 3 days of the auctions end and the balance within 7 more when the car is to be picked up or arrangements are made for the car to be shipped. If you have any questions about the car please fill free to ask and I will gladly answer them to the best of my ability. Thanks And God Bless Charlie 251-751-7530

GM will make Chevy Volt production announcement tomorrow

Mon, Apr 7 2014

Thing are apparently happening to get the next-generation Chevy Volt ready for public consumption. The most obvious proof is in a preview of an announcement (possibly coming tomorrow) that the two main places where General Motors gets the Volt ready -the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant and the Brownstown Township battery assembly facility - will be getting big money upgrades and lots of new positions. The Hamtramck plant builds the Volt and its fancier cousin, the Cadillac ELR, as well as the global versions of the Volt. The Detroit News reports that GM will add 1,400 jobs and spend roughly $450 million at the two locations in order to build the redesigned Volt. What's less clear is exactly what the updates will bring us. We've heard that the new volt will be a 2016 model and come on a new chassis. Speculation in The Detroit News about tomorrow's announcement runs the gamut from a new compact PHEV with less electric range and a lower price (which makes sense) to an updated Volt with more electric range (heard it before) to a new all-electric vehicle (the moon shot). If there's any hints to be gleaned in the international Volts, there are also reports coming in that the Opel brand will get an all-electric vehicle that is cheaper than the Ampera. Read into that what you will. We pestered GM's Kevin Kelly on the new Volt (again) and he said (again) that he couldn't give out any more detail other than what's been reported. He just told AutoblogGreen that there will be an announcement tomorrow and that it will be about the Hamtramck and Brownstown facilities and involve the Volt. So, stay tuned.

Electric Cadillac Lyriq, Chevy Bolt EUV and more GM electric cars are on the way

Wed, Mar 4 2020

GM’s murky and somewhat secretive electric car plan is falling into place, as the company dumped a massive amount of information about whatÂ’s in the pipeline at an event at its Warren, Michigan campus today. New EVs are going to be popping up across the GM brand lineup, with new entries from Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and Buick in progress. We also learned some big news about GMÂ’s new Ultium battery tech today, but check out this story for all of those nitty-gritty details. The electric vehicle onslaught will begin with the Cadillac Lyriq, an electric SUV thatÂ’s already been teased out. Naming it the Lyriq is the news today. No explanation for the name was provided, so weÂ’ll have to wait for April to learn more. GM didnÂ’t specifically say if the Lyriq would be launched at the NY Auto Show, but that show (assuming coronavirus doesnÂ’t cancel it) will begin on April 8 this year. Next up in the order of events is the GMC Hummer electric truck that we know will be launching on May 20. This truck will use GMÂ’s modular Ultium battery technology. However, the wait to buy a GMC Hummer will be a long one, as the truck isnÂ’t going to dive into production until fall 2021 at GMÂ’s Detroit-Hamtramck plant. GM revealed that its new modular Ultium batteries can be configured anywhere from a 50 kWh pack to a 200 kWh pack depending on the application. Range is estimated to be about 400 miles on the upper end with the largest battery pack, and GM continues to boast about a 0-60 mph acceleration time of three seconds. Charging estimates for the Ultium battery-equipped Hummer EV were also provided. GM says its truck platform will have 800-volt battery packs and be capable of 350 kW fast-charging. Time estimates werenÂ’t given, but those numbers suggest the truck will be a rapid charger. The Hummer truck on hand, which was the same that previously starred in GMC's Super Bowl spot, showed off removable roof panels that store in the frunk, as well as what appeared to be a version of GMC's Multi-Pro tailgate. It also featured sail panels on the sides, similar to those in front of the bed of the Chevy Avalanche. In addition to the Hummer, expect to see a couple Chevys launching. GM says the refreshed Bolt EV will be launched “in late 2020” with a refreshed interior and what appear to be thicker front seats.

EcoCar3 will convert Camaro to bitchin' eco rides

Sat, Apr 26 2014

In the 47-year-history of the Chevrolet Camaro, there have been countless college-age kids spending a ton of time getting under the hood and souping 'em up. Now, General Motors is adding a twist to the concept by donating 16 Camaros for the EcoCar challenge that puts university teams together to wring out better fuel-efficiency out of various vehicles. No word on whether there will be donuts on anyone's lawn, as suggested by 80's punks the Dead Milkmen, but the idea's never a bad one. EcoCar3 will feature 16 teams such as Arizona State, Penn State, Ontario's University of Waterloo and, of course, Detroit's Wayne State University. They'll spend the next four years "[reducing] environmental impact, while maintaining the muscle and performance expected from this iconic American car," as the EcoCar organizers say. The goal is to maintain body design and safety standards while boosting efficiency and lowering emissions, but the actual process is far more complicated than that description suggests. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Bosch are among the sponsors of the contest, which is also put on by the US Department of Energy and managed by Argonne National Laboratory. Penn State won Year Two of the three-year EcoCar 2 competition with its E85 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle converted out of a Chevy Malibu. The grand-prize winner of EcoCar2 will be announced in June. Check out the EcoCar3 website and see the announcement video below for more details. This content is hosted by a third party.
