For sale we have a 1955 Chevrolet 2 door Bel Air sedan.Los Angeles built and never left California to get rusty. This car has never been left outside.in winter elements. This car is the nicest original 55 chevy I have ever seen.I have owned many tri five chevys through the years and this is my favorite.I bought the car from a good friend about 7 years ago.He bought it from the original owner. When I got the car from him it was completeley original. It had the original plastic on the seats. The interior was presentable but not quite up to my standards. So I took it to elagance auto trim and had a complete interior kit installed. The owner said he had never seen a pair of seats in such good condition. The floor inside still had the original paint on floor. No surface rust at all.The dash and revells are all original paint. The wonderbar radio works, but I had satilite radio installed. No holes were cut in doors,we installed kick panels with speakers in them.I got a 1959 Impala stering wheel and had it painted the interior colors.I do have the original stering wheel which is perfect also. While the interior was out we had new window felts installed in doors,so no rattles exist. After that I rebuilt the complete frontend.Bushings, ball joints, tie rods and installed a front sway bar.It has original brakes, new. Then I took out the original motor and had it rebuilt.I didnt want to hot rod the original motor,so I found another 1955 265 bored it to a 283,installed a duntof 0-98 solid lifter cam and found a early dual quad set up.I then took the carbs Carter WCFB's to Chuck Smith known in the corvette circle and had them rebuilt and recolored. The motor has TRW forged pistons, hardened seats in heads.all new valves, springs.motor was balanced, arp rod bolts, high volume oil pump, pertronic ignition in stock distributor. The motor has 1000 miles on it since rebuilt. It has the original exhaust manifolds jet coated with aluminised exhaust system. It has walker mufflers that are quiet and mellow sounding. The car comes with 2 barrel,4 barrel and dual quads. All set ups are complete with oil bath air cleaners. Then I had the powerglide rebuilt.I also have a exstra rebuilt powerglide that goes with car.I then found a 330 Posi casi and rebuilt the rearend. The rearend is narrowed enought to fit the 8inch Early American mags. The rear leaf springs are new.The wheels are vintage 1960 Torque Thrust American Racing wheels 15-8 rears and 15-6 torque thrust D's on the front.I do have the original rearend also that is original.Remember,I have kept every original part off car including the original wheels and hub caps. The outside of the car is original paint, all original,no patch panels or rust ever!!!!!!.All the exterior chrome is original. The license plates are original 1955 black plates not repops.I have done most everything to car except paint it.Once you paint it there is no going back to original. This is a real survivor with attitude.I own three chevys right now and do not have room for them. This is not a distress sale so please do not waste mine or your time.I am retired so you can contact me most any time. All original parts go with car.I will not ship car.You must make own arrangements for pickup.Car will not be released until funds clear my bank.Any questions call me at 909-5180599

2022 Genesis GV70, raging at VW ID.4 tech and thoughts on a new Lexus LFA | Autoblog Podcast #696

Fri, Sep 17 2021

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor James Riswick. This week, they talk about driving the Genesis GV70, VW ID.4 and VW Taos. They talk about ways Chevy could "fix" the Camaro. James ranked all the James Bond films based solely on their starring cars. Next, they reach in the mailbag and discuss the question, "Do you think Lexus will make a successor to the LFA and, if so, what do you guys think it would be like?" After ruminating on that query, they dip into the mailbag a second time to recommend a sporty crossover to a listener in this week's Spend My Money segment. CES 2022 was huge for EVs | Autoblog Podcast #711

Fri, Jan 7 2022

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder. CES took place this week, and there were some nice electric surprises from automakers, especially General Motors. John has been driving the Ram 1500 Power Wagon, as well as what seems to be its polar opposite, the electric Mini Cooper SE. Greg talks about the differences between the Acura TLX A-Spec long-termer (which is back in the shop) and the Type S loaner that's filling in for it. John's also got some interesting thoughts on leather interiors. Finally, the editors reach into the mailbag and help a repeat customer decide on a suitable replacement for a 2008 Lexus GX 470 in this week's Spend My Money segment. GM executive chief EV engineer says reducing cost of plug-in vehicles is 'huge priority'

Mon, Mar 17 2014

As we know, another major automaker investing heavily in electrified vehicles is General Motors, and it's doing things much differently than rivals BMW, Ford or Nissan. The Chevrolet Volt extended-range EV is a modest seller at its $35,000 sticker price but a huge hit with owners. The Chevy Spark BEV, still in limited availability, puts smiley faces on its owners and drivers. The just-introduced Cadillac ELR, a sharp-looking, fun-driving $76,000 luxocoupe take on the Volt's EREV mechanicals, has admittedly low sales expectations. With this interesting trio in showrooms and much more in the works, the third vehicle electrification leader I collared for an interview at Detroit's North American International Auto Show (see #1 and #2) was Pam Fletcher, GM's executive chief engineer, Electrified Vehicles. ABG: Why do your EREVs need four-cylinder power to extend their range when BMW's i3 makes do with an optional 650 cc two-banger? "We designed [the Volt and the ELR] to go anywhere, any time" - Pam Fletcher PF: I get that question all the time: why not something smaller? You don't really need that much. You use the electric to its ability, then you just need to limp. But we designed those cars to go anywhere, any time, and we don't want their performance to be compromised. If you're driving through the mountains, we don't want you to be crawling up grades, or to be limited on any terrain. So it's optimized to be able to travel literally the biggest grades and mountain roads around the globe at posted speeds. Because what if you can't? Another good reason: when the engine is on, you have to run it wide open throttle, max speed, most of the time. And while we can do a lot with acoustics, and the ELR has active noise cancelation, a small-displacement, low cylinder-count engine at high speed, high load all the time isn't something you want to live with. That's how we came up with the balance we did among the key factors of performance, NVH [noise, vibration and harshness] and range. ABG: Where you go from here? Is the range-extender engine due for an update? PF: We know and love the current Volt, and there is still a lot of acclaim about it, so we think it's a good recipe. But we are heavily in the midst of engineering the next-generation car, which I think everyone will love and be excited about.
