BEAUTIFUL INDIAN IVORY OVER INDIGO BLUE 1954 chevrolet delray 210 2 door post automobile.......NEEDS AN ENGINE......this car came from the dry area of Utah. It was almost rust free. The only repair for rust was behind the rear wheels and below the trunk.  Paint is fantastic with no waves, dents etc except where I knocked a small amount of paint off of the bottom of the doors with a tow dolly. Interior is all new, very nice, new glass, passenger door glass has a scratch. All new weatherstripping. New headliner and new carpet but the carpet fit was not the best. I restored the car about two years ago. Installed a 70 chevy 283 with a 4 barrel rochester quadrajet, a turbo 350 trans and a 57 chevy rear end with 305 gears. Car ran and drove great. Bumpers were chromed, grille, tail lights etc are original, not perfect but very nice. It all fits better than the aftermarket stuff and is better quality.  The car recently developed a bad miss. A tear down exposed a broken valve. The cylinders have very little wear but have a few good size scratches and evidence of previous rust damage. The engine supposedly only had 30,000 miles on it but had set in an old farm truck for a lot of years.  Heads are the double hump  with the 202 valves. I pulled the engine with the plan of installing a GM crate 350 and then putting it up for sale. I have decided to offer it as is so the buyer can buy it cheaper and install the engine of his choice. If it doesn't meet my reserve I will put in a new 350.'   Just a few extras, true mileage unknown, I have extra indigo blue paint for touch up, dash is beautiful. Radio is face only for looks, does not work, electric wipers, tires have good tread but hoosier quit making street tires ten tears ago. Doors, hood, trunk alignment is very good. Original suspension, drum brakes.  The car is an automatic but column is a converted 3 speed stick shift that works great. I bought an aftermarket aotomatic shift indicator for the column but never installed it.  I will now TRY to upload pictures...my reserve is a secret. NO ENGINE IN THE CAR NOW. ENGINE NEEDS REBUILT IT IS INCLUDED IN THE SALE IF YOU WANT IT ALONG WITH MANIFOLD, CARB, WATERPUMP AND ALL THAT WAS BOLTED TO IT.

Forgot to add that I have pictures of the fenders, doors etc that show the rust free condition. I also forgot to add that I did have to repair a couple of the braces under the car that go from the frame to the body. They were solid but had small holes in them. They collect water and Utah sand.,the car does have all new rubber bushings between the frame and body.  Also all of the stainless is dent free except a small dent in the 6 inch long spear on the right front of the quarter panel. I have a replacement piece to go with this sale. I am sure I have forgotten something. Feel free to ask any questions. Even stupid one, I'm guilty of that sometimes.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

2016 Chevrolet Volt First Drive

Fri, Oct 2 2015

There's a hit vehicle hiding in GM's formula for the Chevy Volt. You can sense it in the enthusiasm that current Volt drivers have for their cars. You can see it in the amount of money GM has poured into its extended-range electric vehicle project. And perhaps most importantly, you can feel it from the driver's seat of the new, second-gen model. The big question is whether or not GM will be able to turn its much-hyped 'halo car' into a best-seller this time around. After driving it in northern California, I can tell you that the Volt is tremendous. But we all know it takes more than that to create a hit. GM has so far sold over 82,000 Volts in the US. That's respectable, but in the early, glory days before the car launched, company representatives were talking about much more impressive numbers. With a few years to talk to customers and potential prospects, GM has learned a lot about what makes someone buy a Volt. For the 2016 model, Chevy has changed just about everything for the better. The new Volt has more all-electric range (53 miles vs. 38 in the first generation), is more fuel efficient whether you're looking at the overall value (106 combined MPGe vs. 98) or just when the car burns gas (42 miles per gallon vs. 37). All of that means that the car's overall range is bumped up to 420 miles, from 380. The battery is smaller and lighter while offering more energy capacity. The range-extending gas engine is bigger (1.5 liters vs. 1.4) but it's also more efficient and can burn regular gasoline instead of just premium. The Volt's overall range is bumped up to 420 miles, from 380. The cost is lower, too: $33,995 vs. $34,170, before incentives. This is a car that GM thinks will compete against the Toyota Priuses and Nissan Leafs of the world (as its new ads make abundantly clear). All three cars have completely different powertrains, but we all know that they're the headline green cars of our time (along with Tesla), so buyers will have to want to pony up a bit more money if they like what the Volt is offering. The 2016 Leaf with its 107-mile range starts at $37,640 (before incentives), while a 2015 Prius can be had for $25,035 (pricing for the 2016 has not yet been announced). So, on paper, the new Volt is an all-around winner. I'm here to tell you that it wins on the road, too. You can't help but notice the changes. They are literally front and center.

Mopar Hellephant is sold out, but here are 4 other awesome crate V8s to try

Mon, May 6 2019

Despite a relatively enormous $30,000 price tag, Mopar's 1,000-horsepower supercharged Hellephant crate engine sold out in just 48 hours. Some enthusiasts may have missed out on the crazy engine due to lack of funds, or they just assumed there would still be some Hellephants down the line. But worry not, swap-happy gearheads. There are plenty of V8s in the world to pick from, and we highlighted four favorites. They're not as powerful, but they're all cheaper, and still have a lot to offer. Mopar 6.2L Hellcrate Odds are a lot of prospective Hellephant buyers were Mopar fans to begin with, so we'll start the list with the next-most-potent offering: the Hellcrate. This is the same supercharged 6.2-liter V8 found under the hood of the Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcats and the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. It makes 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque like those cars, too. It's also about $10,000 cheaper than the Hellephant engine at $20,020, and that leftover money can be used to finish the project or for aftermarket upgrades to get it closer to the Hellephant's output. GM LS9 6.2L The Hellcrate isn't the only factory supercharged crate engine on the market. From General Motors comes the supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8. This is the engine that was used in the C6 Corvette ZR1. At 638 horsepower and 604 pound-feet of torque, it doesn't make as much power or torque as the Hellcrate. But it does boast a dry sump oil system. So instead of pumping oil out of a pan at the bottom, the engine uses an oil tank mounted remotely that pumps oil into the engine. This means the engine is shorter overall, and can be mounted lower for a better center of gravity. It also means that there's almost no risk of running the engine dry in hard cornering, as could happen with a normal oil sump where the oil can slosh to the side without the oil pump. Basically, it offers some major benefits if you want supercharged V8 power for a road course car. It's also a tad cheaper than the Hellcrate at $18,149. But get one while you can, because GM is only selling what's left from when it was building the C6 ZR1. Ford Aluminator 5.2XS Our pick from the Blue Oval lacks a supercharger, but it's still pretty sweet.
