What we have is another project offered by the Toy Factory Auto Restorations and Custom paint. Its a 54 Chevy Belair 2 door sedan with a great running 235 inline 6 cylinder engine and a three speed manual transmission on the column. It runs and shifts perfect. New starter. Clutch is good. The car is a prime candidate for someone handy and looking to save some money and do some work urself. I will do my best to describe the good and also the work that still needs to be done. First off, the car is recently painted with base/clear. Its a very nice paint job put over fairly decent body work. Its very presentable, but not a perfect job. The body work was already done when we recieved it. All we did was the paint. The floors have been repaired in the past using the correct pans. I dont know the extent of the body work, but i am revealing that it has had rust repair. The door jams and truck rails have been painted also. The brakes work with a slight pull to the right at first. Several new brake lines. Probably needs some adjusting. The windshield and rear window are good as are the rear side glass. Both door glass and one vent glass are cracked. The interior is where u are saving ur money on the purchase price of the car. It needs to be completely refurbished. The dash is good, just need to be repainted. No headliner, no carpet, I do have the door panels but the are very worn but still have the stainless u will need for the new ones. There is no front seat, but the rear seat is there and can be recovered. I do have an S10 seat in the car to move it around, u are welcome to have it with the auction. The exhaust is fine and doesnt show any signs of leaks. I put decent tires on the car and a real nice set of 56 chevy hubcaps on the car. I only have one 54 hubcap but it will go with the car. I have all the inside window trim. The wiring, as far as the lights, will need to be checked and hooked up. All the stainless trim seems to be here with the exception of the hood emblem and one headlight ring. The stainless and chrome are in driver condition. I do have the rear bumper, but not the mounting brackets. U can see that after paint that we have assembled most of the exterior of the car, but do to the fact that we are selling it as a project car, there is still more work to be done. The underneath will need some minor repairs as far as rust. For example, the inner rocker panels need replaced, and there is a few spots some mounts. There is some minor spots in the trunk also, but u can see in the photos that its not to bad. The car is still a 6 volt system. You can see that we have started the auction at a price that would usually only cover the paint job. I am listing it with no reserve also, so basically, ur getting a car with a new paint job that runs and drives, for the price of just the paint. So if u are not afraid of doing the finishing work ur self, or willing to drive it the way it is after u put the interior together, then i think this a great car to start with. As an added bonus, i will put a low "buy it now" for quick sale. ALSO, if u use the "buy it now" to purchase the car, i will throw in a set of rear fender skirts with the car. I hope i have described the car enough to make u feel confident on what u are getting. I do have the car for sale locally and will end the auction if it sells. Im including my personally number for serious inquiries about the car. 989-670-2700. Thanks for looking and God bless

GM to idle car production at five factories as Americans continue CUV love affair

Mon, Dec 19 2016

In case you needed another reminder that Americans have fallen out of love with sedans, General Motors today announced plans to idle five factories in January in a bid to cut its inventory to 70 days. Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly ( Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Chevrolet Volt and Impala) and Fairfax Assembly in Kansas ( Chevy Malibu) will stop production for three weeks. Lansing Grand River ( Cadillac ATS and CTS, and Chevy Camaro) is going down for two weeks, while Lordstown, OH ( Chevy Cruze) and Bowling Green, KY ( Chevy Corvette) will go idle for a week each, Automotive News reports. GM's shutdown reflects a broader problem with the company's supply – at 847,000 vehicles, the company's supply increased unsteadily from a low of 629,000 units in January of 2016. That's more than a 25 percent increase in the past year. Citing information from Autodata, The Detroit News reports that at the end of November, GM had a 168-day supply of LaCrosses, 177 days' worth of Camaro, 170 days of Corvette, 121 days for Cruze, 119 days for ATS, 132 days for CTS, and 110 days of CT6. Meanwhile, inventory of the company's more popular vehicles is actually below the professionally accepted 60- to 70-day supply, The News reports. The Trax, Colorado pickup, and GM's full-size SUVs are sitting below 50 days and experiencing year-over-year sales increases. GM needs a rethink of its inventory levels, which is something that's apparently coming. "We're going to be responsible in managing our inventory levels," GM spokesman Jim Cain told The News. Another unnamed spokesman told Automotive News the company's day-to-day supplies would "fluctuate before moderating at year-end." But at least one analyst thinks this won't be the last time Detroit needs to stop production to level things out. "Incentives are elevated, residuals are declining, and rates are rising," Brian Johnson, an analyst with Barclays, told The News. "And while GM in particular may benefit in the months ahead from new product launches, it's important to recognize that GM's inventory is elevated at the moment, and it wouldn't surprise us if they need to announce another production cut – which could pressure the stock." '84 MotorWeek Cherokee, Bronco and Blazer comparison indulges your SUV nostalgia

Fri, Jan 16 2015

These days, truck-based, full-frame SUVs are somewhat of a rarity on the auto landscape due to the rapid rise in popularity of easier-driving, car-based crossovers. Although, without the gradually building popularity of these chunky, high-riding vehicles decades ago, it's unlikely that America's roads would be filled with so many CUVs today. In its latest dig into the archives, MotorWeek has found a 1984 comparison test of a trio of these early Sport Utility Wagons, as long-time host John Davis called them, that helped get acceptance of this segment going. This is a red, white and blue test of the SUVs from American automakers at the time and pits the Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Bronco and Jeep Cherokee (specifically in Wagoneer guise) against each other. Driving manners and interior usability are considered in the evaluation, but Motorweek actually takes these vehicles off road, too. Among the bigger revelations is the improvement in on-road ability in the past 30 years. While specific 0-60 times aren't given, all three models take around 10 seconds just to get to around 50 miles per hour in the 500-feet on-ramp acceleration test. Check out this clip to see just how far this segment has progressed in the past three decades or just get a blast of nostalgia from these now vintage models. Chevrolet Captiva looks mildly refreshed and ready for family duty

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

We showed you Chevrolet's major debut yesterday, the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible, but General Motors is making a big push for Bowtie consideration in Europe, so it's also introducing the updated Captiva crossover here at the Geneva Motor Show.
While still based on the same platform as North America's fleet-only Captiva Sport (which is effectively a rebadged Saturn Vue), the Captiva is available in both five- and seven-seat iterations, and it looks far more modern. That's particularly the case with this updated model, which features revamped front- and rear ends that include restyled bumpers, grilles and LED taillamps, among other changes.
As before, the midsize Theta-platform CUV will be available in both front- and all-wheel drive, and is expected to carry a range of four- and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. Important US programming note: Chevrolet sources tell us that America's Captiva Sport will not receive these updates.
