UP FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION I HAVE MY 1954 CHEVROLET 2 DOOR HARD TOP. THIS CAR HAS THE 6 CYL WITH THE 3 SPEED ON THE COLUMN. THE ENGINE RUNS AND I WAS TOLD REBUILT ABOUT 20,000 MILES AGO. FOR RESTORATION, NOT DRIVE HOME! I WILL TELL YOU WHAT I KNOW, AND PICTURE EVERYTHING THAT I CAN SEE THAT IS IMPORTANT. I ENCOURAGE ANY OFFER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND SEE ENTIRE CAR BEFORE OFFERING, BUT I DO KNOW THIS CAR NEEDS A COMPLETE RESTORE TO BE NICE. THERE IS A SMALL PATCH IN THE BOTTOM OF THE SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT BUT THE TRUNK SEEMS VERY SOLID. I DO SEE SOME RUST ON THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS AND SOME DINGS ON BUMPERS (SEE PICS.) THERE IS RUST INSIDE ON THE FLOOR WHERE SEAT MOUNTS JUST INSIDE THE DOORS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR, ALSO SOME PATCHES (SEE PICS.) THE BACK FLOOR I SEE JUST A COUPLE SMALL PATCHES. THE OUTSIDE I DO SEE WHERE THERE HAS BEEN SOME FILLER USED, BUT I KNOW THIS CAR CAN BE RESTORED ALOT EASIER THAN SOME THAT I HAVE SEEN. THE FRAME SUPPORTS THAT GO FROM THE MAIN FRAME NEAR BACK OF ENGINE, ARE RUSTED OUT. BUT THE MAIN FRAME APPEARS SOLID. JUST SURFACE RUSTED. I TOOK ONE PICTURE OF THAT FRAME SUPPORT (SEE PIC.) THE PASSENGER WINDOW IS CRACKED. BUT THE REST OF THE GLASS ARREARS TO BE FINE. THERE IS ALOT OF SOLID METAL YET ON THIS ONE. SOME CHROME PARTS IN TRUNK (SEE PIC.) THE FRONT AND REAR SEAT AND TWO PIECES ON THE FLOOR IN PICS. ARE ALL REUPOLSTERED (SEE PICS.) EVEN THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER IS STILL THERE. OBVIOUSLY NOT ORIGINAL RIMS ON CAR.

Recharge Wrap-up: Panasonic, Tesla on Gigafactory deal?
Tue, Jul 29 2014Bentley has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard for reductions of carbon, water use and waste production in manufacturing. The Carbon Trust is an organization that helps groups such as businesses and governments reduce carbon emissions, use of energy and resources, and waste output. From 2011 to 2013, Bentley reduced CO2 emissions by 16 percent per car manufactured, curtailed water use by 35.7 percent, and saw significant waste reductions. Darran Messem of Carbon trust says, "Bentley is clearly passionate about continuing to improve its environmental performance, which is reflected by the fact the company has consistently invested in new technology." Read more in the press release below. Chevrolet is giving 12 Volts to MBAs Across America. The organization will use the range-extended electric cars in its efforts to help MBA students learn from and work with small business owners. As part of the MBAs Across America program's first year, four students drove 8,000 miles to provide entrepreneurs with free business counseling. The program has expanded, and this year, teams of MBAs will use the Volts to travel to 25 cities to offer their services. Learn more about the partnership between Chevrolet and MBAs Across America in the press release below. A professor from the University of Michigan has found fuel cycle analysis to be too flawed to be relied upon for measuring CO2 impacts of transportation fuels. Professor John DeCicco of the university's Energy Institute feels that the flaws in calculating the carbon footprint of liquid fuel production and combustion make such lifecycle analysis impractical. He suggests, instead, to focus to carbon capture. Since capturing CO2 directly from a vehicle is probably never going to happen, DiCicco believes the solution is to capture carbon from the atmosphere in sectors outside of transportation. Says DiCicco, "Research should be ramped up on options for increasing the rate at which CO2 is removed from the atmosphere and on programs to manage and utilize carbon fixed in the biosphere, which offers the best CO2 removal mechanism now at hand. Such strategies can complement measures that control the demand for liquid fuels by reducing travel activity, improving vehicle efficiency and shifting to non-carbon fuels." GM recalls 8,500 Chevrolet Malibu models for rear suspension glitch
Mon, 04 Feb 2013According to a letter from General Motors to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, flaws in the build process of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu have led to the recall of 8,519 cars. Units built between December 6, 2011 and January 15, 2013 may have been assembled with rear suspension cradles that had insufficient torque applied to certain bolts. That out-of-spec assembly could lead to issues ranging from slight noises to a loss of vehicle control.
The problem was first noticed in December of last year by a GM test fleet driver and eventually tracked back to the improperly torqued bolts on the suspension cradle assembled through July 2012 by a supplier located not too far from the Malibu's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Since an official NHTSA recall notice has not been issued yet, it isn't clear whether or not Detroit-built Malibus were the only ones affected (the 2013 Malibu is also built at GM's Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas). Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting vehicles for proper torque specs, retightening if not within specs and, in some cases, perform a rear-wheel alignment.
GM admits goal of 500,000 EVs by 2017 won't be met
Sat, May 9 2015After a little over four years of Chevy Volt sales, General Motors has a better handle on how many people it expects will buy cars with plugs. And it's less than the company thought back in 2012, when then-senior vice president of global product development, Mary Barra, said that GM expected to sell 500,000 "vehicles with electrification" by 2017. In a sustainability report released this week, GM says that half-million vehicle target will not be met but that it still, "believes the future is electric." In the report, GM says that, "For our commitment to electrification, our forecasted outlook currently projects us, along with the broader automotive industry, falling short of expectations for 2017. ... We continue to aspire to our stated goal." GM's electric lineup includes the Volt, the recently popular Spark EV, the slow-selling Cadillac ELR and upcoming Malibu Hybrid, CT6 plug-in hybrid and eAssist technology in the Buick LaCrosse and Regal. GM says it has 180,834 electrified vehicles on the road in the US today. In 2013, it had 153,034; 95,578 in 2012, and 39,843 in 2011. The company's next big plug-in vehicle will be the second-gen Chevy Volt, which is coming to market later this year, followed by the 200-mile Bolt EV coming, we think, in 2017. GM Employees on Mission to Transform Transportation Sustainability report outlines vehicle and manufacturing progress; sets new targets 2015-05-07 DETROIT – General Motors' just-released sustainability report chronicles efforts by the company's 216,000 employees to live out GM's newly defined purpose and values by earning customer loyalty, applying meaningful technology advances and improving the communities where it does business. These actions – led by CEO Mary Barra – further drive sustainability into the company's culture through building safer and smarter vehicles with less environmental impact. "GM will take a leading role in the auto industry's transformation as it undergoes an unprecedented period of change," said Bob Ferguson, senior vice president, GM Global Public Policy. "From GM's labs to its assembly lines, our people are driving the world to a better place through improved mobility." The company believes the future is electric, with billions of investment to support an all-in-house approach to the development and manufacturing of electrified vehicles. It now counts 180,834 on the road in the U.S – up from 153,034 in 2013.
