1953 Chevrolet Custom Hot Rod 150 on 2040-cars
Scottsdale, Arizona, United States
FOR SALE- CHEVY 150 I bought this car over a year ago and it had already been chopped, bagged and painted. BUT there were a lot of things wrong with it. They had a junk yard motor in it, no custom interior, no head liner, no rear bumper, no window moldings, no ac, no windows in driver side or passenger side doors, air bags weren't holding air, no sound system, brake lines were installed backwards, gear box wouldn't hold and often fall out of drive, trunk was opened to rear wheels and gas tank, gauges weren't working, and seals were leaking So because I have kids…. I wanted to make sure it was safe to drive and to make sure that you could drive this across country with no issues!!! So it has spent the last year in and out of shops getting all the bugs worked out and basically making this car brand new for an old car. I just was at the Good Guys car show and was cruising comfortably on the highway at 85mph with not one issue- it drives straight as an arrow and has no shimmy in the wheel. I am very proud of this car and people absolutely love it!!! Especially the DUCK!!! The only thing this car doesn't have is power steering but you don't need it! It's not hard to steer unless you are holding a cup of coffee in the other hand!! (Don't recommend!!) So if you want to buy a finished car here it is. There is nothing that needs done to it unless your imagination runs wild. It has 800 miles on the new motor and 143 miles on the speedometer. OVER $45,000 invested into this car but I am ready for my new project… AC/ HEAT and windows were just installed 2 weeks ago Chopped 3 inches Slanted B pillars floor pans and quarters replaced Smoothed firewall shaved door handles with remote poppers and bear claw latches. Mustang 2 front end with tubular control arms and shockwave air ride up front. Adjustable four link with a gambino step notch in the rear, bagged as well. Air Ride Technologies Big Red Air Management System with digital gauges and independent corner control capabilities. WWII Panel Gauges Brand New AC and Heat installed Custom made roll down windows for driver side and passanger BRAND NEW Brown & Brown 350 with 12,000 mile warranty on motor ( only 800 miles on car since engine was installed) Turbo 350 trans 10 bolt Chevy rear end with brand new posi unit and axles with a freeway friendly 3.08 gear. Brand new stereo with (2) 10 inch woofers in the trunk ( I-Pod connection only) This car thumps!! Brand new braking system installed Brand new glass pack mufflers installed( this car pops!!!) The car has new air lines installed for bag system New LED headlights and a WHOOOGA HORN Brand new interior with bullets shaved and installed on front side door panels and rear seat panels, all new carpet, electric choke, tires were replaced 9 months ago when project started, body is perfectly straight. Olive Drab and has a few chips in it around the passenger door and one by hood. Wheels were custom painted. black with Olive Drab caps. Only thing it doesn't have is Power Steering Have all documents of work and where things were done. GOOD LUCK |

GM laying off more than 4,000 workers Monday morning
Sat, Feb 2 2019According to reports from Automotive News, The Detroit News, and CNN, General Motors plans to begin laying off more than 4,000 salaried workers starting Monday morning. In a statement to AN, a spokesperson for the automaker said, "We are not confirming timing. Our employees are our priority. We will communicate with them first." We've been expecting layoffs at General Motors since November, 2018. At the time, the Detroit-based automaker announced it would seek to shed 8,100 salaried employees, shut down five assembly plants in North America, and kill off several slow-selling models. One month earlier, GM offered buyout packages to 18,000 workers and said it would seek to cut its global workforce by 25 percent. A spokesperson said at the time the moves were "proactive steps to get ahead of the curve by accelerating our efforts to address overall business performance." The cost-cutting moves are expected to save GM up to $2.5 billion in 2019 and as much as $6 billion by 2020. David Kudla, CEO and chief investment strategist of Mainstay Capital Management, referred to the impending culling as "Black Monday" and told The Detroit News that the layoffs would begin around 7:30 a.m. and continue in waves throughout the coming days and weeks. GM plans to deliver on its fourth-quarter and full-year 2018 earnings report on Wednesday. President Donald Trump plans to deliver the annual State of the Union address a day earlier on Tuesday. We expect to hear plenty more from both sides over the next several days.
Hot air balloons caught in high winds drag fullsize SUV
Mon, Jul 20 2015A sudden storm front whipped up enough wind to send some hot air balloons flying into the air in Wisconsin over the weekend. One ballon proved so energetic that it was able to drag a fullsize SUV across a field and into a stand of tents. The freak accident occurred at Balloonfest in Waterford, Wisconsin. Spectators were horrified as balloons dragged handlers to the ground and launched with terrified pilots clinging to their baskets. Organizers had started packing up the colorful balloons due to ominous storm clouds when the wind kicked up. "Happened just like that; it was crazy," Nathan Fricke, crew member, told Fox 6. Winds were clocked at 40 to 50 miles per hour. A balloon caught in the wind dragged a large SUV (we think a Suburban or Yukon XL) hundreds of feet and into a cluster of tents on the edge of the staging area where balloons were on display for festival goers. Considering that the SUV surely weighs well over 5,000 pounds, it's lucky that no one was injured in the incident. News Source: Fox6Now Weird Car News Chevrolet GM GMC SUV
Weekly Recap: GM plans massive new paint shop at Chevy Corvette factory
Sat, May 23 2015General Motors is laying out some serious green to maintain the Chevy Corvette's expansive color palette. The automaker is breaking ground on a new paint shop this summer that's part of a $439-million investment to upgrade the 34-year-old Bowling Green, KY, factory that builds the Stingray. The massive new structure will total 450,000 square feet, nearly half the size of the current 1-million square-foot facility. Construction is expected to take two years and won't impact Corvette production. The upgrades include new robots that save paint and create a better finish, longer, more efficient ovens to bake in the finish, and LED lighting. There's also a dry scrubbing booth technology with a limestone handling system that eliminates waste. GM has invested $135 million in the factory in last four years for the changeover to build the C7 and to relocate its Performance Build Center to Bowling Green. The improvements continue to modernize the Kentucky factory, which has become a tourist attraction in its own right, as more than 56,000 enthusiasts visited it last year. The upgrades are part of a $5.4-billion investment GM confirmed in April that will remake its US footprint in the next three years. The Bowling Green expansion underscores GM's continued commitment to the Corvette, which sold nearly 38,000 copies around the world last year, an eight-year high. "With this major technology investment, we can continue to exceed the expectations of sports car buyers for years to come," North American manufacturing manager Arvin Jones said in a statement. OTHER NEWS & NOTES Takata recall hits 34 million vehicles The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration expanded the Takata airbag recall to an almost unthinkable 34 million vehicles on Tuesday. The recall is part of an agreement reached by the two sides where Takata admitted some of its airbag inflators have a defect, and the deal compels the company to comply with all future regulatory actions and investigations. Takata's airbag inflators were produced with "a propellant that can degrade over time" and lead to ruptures, NHTSA said. Six deaths have been attributed to the flaw worldwide. Investigations conducted by Takata, automakers, and others have not determined the exact cause of the inflator problem, but NHTSA said moisture appears to alter the propellant's chemical structure. It then ignites too rapidly, creates too much pressure that ruptures the inflator, and blasts shards of metal at passengers.
