2 Owner truck. I purchased it from a friend in 2004 with 4,000 miles and have been the sole driver since then. NON SMOKER VEHICLE. Never smoked in or had a smoker in it. OPTIONS: LEATHER DUAL ELECTRIC FRONT SEATS WITH HEAT SIDE AIR BAGS BOSE STEREO WITH FACTORY SUB-WOOFER MOON-ROOF REAR SEAT DVD WITH WIRELESS HEADSETS DUAL DIGITAL HVAC ADJUSTABLE ROOF RACK 410 GEARS WITH HD TRANS HD REAR WITH LEAF SPRINGS HYDRAULIC POWER BRAKES (3/4 TON) 8.1 BIG BLOCK (roughly equivalent to 496) ELECTRIC TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER The 2500 only came as a 4 wheel drive with the 8.1 big block. The tow rating is in excess of 12,000 LBS when equipped this way. It is a true 3/4 ton truck with a heavier frame, leaf springs instead of coils, hydraulic power brakes rather than vacuum etc. I have only used it as daily transportation and occasional towing under 7,000 lbs. No boat ramps. The truck was kept in a heated garage. The body, paint and interior all in excellent condition. All options work as designed. (couple small door dings and a very thin scratch on the tailgate) I have never had any breakdowns or problems with this truck. As it is a 3/4 ton and I wasn't beating it, everything lasts that much longer. I am selling only because I have a new truck coming and really can't justify 2. (although I would love to keep the avalanche also if I had more garage space) The truck is located in zip 08225. Near Atlantic City NJ. (No I'm not in a flood area. Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction
Sun, 17 Feb 2013It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
Opel's own ad shows Ampera-e beating Opels in drag race
Thu, Sep 8 2016The Opel Ampera-e isn't expected to set any world records on a quarter-mile drag strip. But when it comes to crossing a major boulevard, though, the European version of the Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicle will more than hold its own, potentially scaring inattentive pedestrians everywhere. According to a 35-second video posted by General Motors' Opel division, at least. Opel set up the Ampera-e against four other small-and-sporty vehicles, including racing versions of the Opel Adam and Opel Astra as well as stock versions of the Opel Insignia and Corsa (what, you expected a Corvette to be in there?). With the EV's off-the-line torque as a selling point, Opel showed the Ampera-e beating the other vehicles in a 30-meter (100-foot) drag race. Of course, the video also shows the EV getting passed by some of the others soon after, but the point was made. Opel doubled down by adding the tagline "Fun to Drive" at the end of the video. While Opel hasn't revealed the single-charge range of the Ampera-e, it should be roughly the same as the Chevrolet Bolt, which will be about 200 miles. In addition, the Ampera-e, like the Bolt in the US, will get 200 horsepower from its electric motor, and will be able to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than seven seconds. The Ampera-e will debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show later this month. General Motors said in February that Europe would get the Ampera-e by next year. Opel had previously used the Ampera name with the Euro version of the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in. LG Chem's troubled Chevy Volt battery plant hiring once again
Thu, Sep 25 2014The Michigan battery plant known for paying its workers to do nothing has turned things around and is now hiring more workers, specifically to do something. South Korea-based LG Chem, which runs the factory to supply the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in vehicle with its lithium-ion batteries, held a job fair recently to bring on 40 new employees in order to meet higher battery demand, according to WZZM, the ABC affiliate for Grand Rapids, MI. The LG Chem factory is in Holland, MI, about 30 miles west of Grand Rapids, and it made its first batteries last year. Prior to that, though, the factory gained notoriety after a US Department of Energy (DOE) probe found that workers there were getting paid to do, well, nothing. That's because demand for the battery packs was so low that it cost less for the plant to sit idle. The DOE was conducting the probe because of its financial grant to LG Chem. But that was then and today is today. LG Chem is looking to ramp up production in advance of the second-generation Volt. That 2016 model-year version is said to have a longer all-electric range and better performance and will ride on a new chassis, but few official details have surfaced. We will know more when we get our first look at the car at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
