2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Z71 Crew Cab Pickup 4-door 5.3l on 2040-cars
West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, United States
2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 4WD Pickup Truck. 5.3L V8. Z71 Off Road Package. Towing Package. Blue Book in this condition is $6,874. White with gray trim and navy blue interior. Push button 4WD Hi and Lo. ABS. OnStar. All power, including heated power mirrors and heated power leather seats. Cruise control. AC. CD player. Sliding power sunroof. Everything works. Roof rack. Privacy glass. Running boards. Engine and transmission are solid. Runs awesome. Truck is clean inside and solid out with no rust. Newer brakes, shocks, battery, good tires. I have never used it to tow, but the towing package is rated at 8300 lbs. Here are the known issues with this truck: It has some front end damage to the bumper, grill and headlight assemblies as you can see from the photos. Estimate to replace/repair everything was $800. Truck does not have a current MA inspection sticker. At last inspection the On-Board Diagnostic was not reading, so the emissions test could not be run. Apparently this can be caused by a recently disconnected battery. I had just put in a new battery, so that may have been it, not sure. I was planning to sell the truck so I have not pursued that issue. Everything else passed inspection. Driver's side and passenger mirrors need the inserts or just replace them for $70 each. Tailgate needs a good slam to close because one hinge is a little sticky. Rear windows are a little slow going up and down, but they work. Runs great. Shifts smoothly. Lots of power. Smooth ride at highway speeds and around town. Leather interior is in good shape, as is the bed. Takes only a minute to fold down the seats and tailgate and convert from a six passenger vehicle into a full size pickup bed. Cash only. No checks. No trades. Buyer is
responsible for picking up the vehicle in West Bridgewater, MA. |

GM, UAW poaching Nissan workers in Tennessee
Tue, Sep 8 2015General Motors and the United Auto Workers are going on a recruitment drive at the Spring Hill factory in Tennessee, and they're hoping to poach some skilled workers from Nissan's nearby plant in Smyrna, TN. The General and the union even bought a billboard advertising for industrial electricians near the Japanese automaker's facility, according to the Daily News Journal. The reason for the billboard was simple. "GM was short of electricians," said Tim Stannard, the president of the UAW local at Spring Hill, to the Daily News Journal. The factory currently builds the Chevrolet Equinox but has a contract to assemble the next generation of Ecotec engines and the Cadillac XT5, which replaces the SRX. Thanks to the $185-million deal, employment there is expected to double by May 2016, according to Stannard, with roughly 1,800 additional union jobs. Beyond just several billboards, GM has job postings online for the Spring Hill plant looking for workers with specific skills. There has already been some interest in the positions among Nissan employees, Stannard indicated. According to a recent study by the Center for Automotive Research, the average GM worker currently makes $58 an hour, including benefits. Comparatively, Nissan pays an average of $42 an hour with benefits. The General's number could change in the coming weeks because its contract with the UAW is about to expire, and higher wages are among the major negotiating points.
Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Detroit Auto Show [w/poll]
Wed, Jan 14 2015Here at Autoblog, we love unexpected debuts at auto shows – and judging by our Detroit Auto Show comments and traffic, you do, too. Surprise reveals have been fewer and farther between in recent years with so many ways for vehicles to be teased or leak out, but this week's show has been a revelation. More to the point, it's been a series of revelations, with automakers from around the globe successfully delivering a brace of concept and production surprises. It's made our jobs a lot more exciting and challenging this week, and even though it's actually more work to react and run-and-gun when the sheet is pulled on a surprise reveal than it is to publish an already-written embargoed story, we've had more fun covering this show for you than any domestic show in memory. We hope you've enjoyed the surprises along with us. To that end, borrowing the words of an unnamed automaker PR flack, we'd like to thank the following automakers for enduring "mountain of antacids" and that "creeping sense of paranoia" necessary to keeping ones' wares totally under wraps until the sheets are pulled off the sheetmetal: Buick Avenir concept Chevrolet Bolt concept Ford GT concept Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Hyundai HCD-15 Santa Cruz concept And while we're at it, we'd like to throw in an shout-out to Detroit's substantially revised and revitalized Cobo Center, and in particular, the redone Michelin media center, which is arguably the single best accommodations for writing show stories that we've encountered on the entire international circuit. Well done, everyone. Thank you, and keep the surprises coming. Auto News Detroit Auto Show Buick Chevrolet Ford Hyundai Volvo 2015 Detroit Auto Show
Here are the best-selling cars and trucks from January 2015
Fri, Feb 6 2015Every month, Autoblog slogs through all the sales figures reported by automakers that do business in the United States, and, after a little bit of sorting, we put it into an easy-to-read chart in an attempt to make it as easy as possible to follow the ins and outs of sales and shipments. But that only covers the brands themselves, not the individual models they sell. And we think you'd all be interested in knowing which vehicles beat their rivals in sales from month to month, so we've put together this handy gallery to keep you in the know. While the leader of the pack may not come as much of a surprise, the order that the top ten finishes in changes frequently – due to automaker deals, the price of gas, etc. – and we've included some statistics to help you see how their current performance stacks up to month's past.
