YOU ARE BIDDING ON A 2001 CHEVROLET ASTRO VAN. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION AND WILL BE SOLD TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER.
IT IS A BEAUTIFUL BLUE CALLED "MEDIUM CADET BLUE METALLIC" AND IS TWO TONE WITH SILVER. THE PAINT IS IN GREAT SHAPE. THE INTERIOR IS GRAY AND IS ALSO IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. IN THE PHOTOS THE THIRD SEAT IS OUT OF THE VAN. THE THIRD SEAT IS IN MY GARAGE AND IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION TOO AND WILL BE PUT IN THE VAN BEFORE YOU PICK IT UP. IT HAS THE REAR DUTCH DOOR OPTION WHICH IS SO MUCH NICER THAN THE STANDARD REAR DOORS. THE A/C WORKS GREAT AND IS DUAL AIR WITH FRONT AND REAR AIR AND HEAT. THERE IS A NICE OVERHEAD CONSOLE FOR STORING GLASSES, GARAGE DOOR OPENER, ETC. IT HAS A DIGITAL READOUT THAT GIVES YOU THE TEMPERATURE, GAS MILEAGE, MILEAGE TO EMPTY, ETC.
THE VAN HAS NEW TIRES, NEW BRAKES AND JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE. IT HAS ALL THE POWER OPTIONS: DRIVER SEAT, DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOWS. IT ALSO HAS A CLASS 3 TOW HITCH WHICH HAS BEEN ON THE VAN ONLY A COUPLE OF YEARS. I HAVE TOWED AN 18 FOOT BOAT LOCALLY HALF A DOZEN TIMES IN THE TWO YEARS. IT HAS CHROME WHEELS THAT SHINE. AN AFTER MARKET CENTER CONSOLE IS ALSO INCLUDED. THE VAN HAS BOTH A CD AND CASSETE PLAYER. IT IS A NON SMOKING VEHICLE BUT IT DOES HAVE A LIGHTER.
OVERALL THIS IS A GREAT VAN BUT THERE ARE A COUPLE FLAWS THAT I WILL TELL YOU ABOUT. FIRST THERE IS A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT HAPPENED ABOUT A MONTH AGO ON THE INTERSTATE. IT WAS JUST A TINY CRACK TO BEGIN WITH BUT HAS STARTED TO SPREAD, SO EVENTUALLY YOU WILL NEED A WINDSHIELD. I PRICED THEM LOCALLY AND THEY RANGED FROM 160 TO 220 INSTALLED. SECOND, THE VAN NEEDS A NEW CAT CONVERTER. IT CLOGGED UP ON THE INTERSTATE OUT OF STATE AND I HAD TO HAVE IT BLOWN OUT SO I COULD DRIVE IT HOME. I PRICED A NEW ONE AND THE COST FOR THIS REPAIR IS 100-2OO. NEITHER OF THESE IS A BIG DEAL BUT I WANTED TO ALERT YOU TO THEM. OTHER THAN THAT THE VAN IS IN GREAT SHAPE. I WOULDN'T HESITATE TO DRIVE IT ANYWHERE.
THIS IS THE SECOND ASTRO I HAVE OWNED AND THEY ARE GREAT VEHICLES. ONCE AGAIN THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION. GOOD LUCK BIDDING AND PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. PLEASE DON'T BID UNLESS YOU PLAN TO BUY. PLEASE PLAN TO PICK UP THE VAN WITHIN A WEEK AFTER THE AUCTION. HOWEVER I WILL WORK WITH YOU IF YOU CANT GET HERE WITHIN THE WEEK. A 500 DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED WITHIN 24 HOURS OF AUCTIONS END..

GM won't really kill off the Chevy Volt and Cadillac CT6, will it?
Fri, Jul 21 2017General Motors is apparently considering killing off six slow-selling models by 2020, according to Reuters. But is that really likely? The news is mentioned in a story where UAW president Dennis Williams notes that slumping US car sales could threaten jobs at low-volume factories. Still, we're skeptical that GM is really serious about killing those cars. Reuters specifically calls out the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Sonic, and the Chevrolet Volt. Most of these have been redesigned or refreshed within the past few model years. Four - the LaCrosse, Impala, CT6, and Volt - are built in the Hamtramck factory in Detroit. That plant has made only 35,000 cars this year - down 32 percent from 2016. A typical GM plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year. Of all the cars Williams listed, killing the XTS, Impala, and Sonic make the most sense. They're older and don't sell particularly well. On the other hand, axing the other three seems like an odd move. It would leave Buick and Cadillac without flagship sedans, at least until the rumored Cadillac CT8 arrives. The CT6 was a big investment for GM and backing out after just a few years would be a huge loss. It also uses GM's latest and best materials and technology, making us even more skeptical. The Volt is a hugely important car for Chevrolet, and supplementing it with a crossover makes more sense than replacing it with one. Offering one model with a range of powertrain variants like the Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius might be another route GM could take. All six of these vehicles are sedans, Yes, crossover sales are booming, but there's still a huge market for cars. Backing away from these would be essentially giving up sales to competitors from around the globe. The UAW might simply be publicly pushing GM to move crossover production to Hamtramck to avoid closing the plant and laying off workers. Sales of passenger cars are down across both GM and the industry. Consolidating production in other plants and closing Hamtramck rather than having a single facility focus on sedans might make more sense from a business perspective. GM is also trying to reduce its unsold inventory, meaning current production may be slowed or halted while current cars move into customer hands. There's a lot of politics that goes into building a car. GM wants to do what makes the most sense from a business perspective, while the UAW doesn't workers to lose their jobs when a factory closes.
Recharge Wrap-up: Detroit Electric teaser video, Nissan Leaf is Good Housekeeping "Tried and Tested"
Mon, Oct 20 2014Detroit Electric has a new teaser video and has updated its brand in preparation of the introduction of the SP:01. The refreshed logo uses a blue and white color palette, and the company has also given its website a new look. The teaser video, which gives a sneak peek at the exterior of the SP:01, shows the car taking form in the midst of an electrical storm. Watch the video or learn more in the press release below. Abengoa is celebrating the grand opening of a commercial scale cellulosic ethanol plant in Hugoton, KS. When running at full scale, the refinery will produce up to 25 million gallons of ethanol a year. The plant will also generate enough electricity to power itself and put some back into the grid. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz was on hand for the dedication, saying, "Every gallon of cellulosic ethanol produced and used to fuel our vehicles reduces the impact of harmful greenhouse gas emissions by greater than 60 percent as compared to conventional gasoline." Learn more at Energy.gov. Good Housekeeping has named the Nissan Leaf one of its "Tried and Tested" vehicles. The magazine called the Leaf SL its top "Roomy Electric" vehicle in its November issue. The magazine's research institute evaluated the EV based on track and road driving, ergonomics and convenience features. Good Housekeeping made note of the car's "impressive" range, but according to Nissan's Fred Diaz, "the real beauty of the Nissan Leaf is that it's roomy and, best of all, fun to drive." Read more in the press release below. Quasar Energy Group produces compressed natural gas from sewage and garbage. It uses things like grains leftover from brewing Budweiser, food waste from a baseball stadium and sewage sludge to produce the gas through anaerobic digestion. The compressed gas can then be used to power cars like Chevrolet's Bi-fuel Impala, which goes on sale later this year. Chevrolet likens the situation to the Delorean time machine in the Back To The Future movie series, which uses garbage to fuel its fusion generator. GM recalls 3.6 million vehicles for airbag-software problems
Fri, Sep 9 2016The Basics: General Motors is recalling 3.64 million vehicles across its lineup for an airbag-related issue. The recall covers the 2014-2015 Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet SS, and Spark EV; 2014-2017 Chevrolet Corvette, Trax, Caprice PPV, Silverado 1500, Buick Encore, and GMC Sierra 1500; and 2015-2017 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado HD, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Sierra HD, Cadillac Escalade, and Escalade ESV. The Problem: Affected vehicles have a sensing and diagnostic module that controls the airbags and seat-belt pretensioners. The software it uses has a defect that can prompt the module to run a diagnostic test under specific driving conditions, which will also deactivate the front airbags and pretensioners. This means that it would be possible for those safety systems to not activate in a crash, potentially leading to injury or death. Injuries/Deaths: General Motors began an investigation that led to the recall after a 2014 Silverado was involved in a crash in which the airbags did not deploy. No information was given as to injuries or deaths. The Fix: Owners can bring their vehicles to a local General Motors dealer where a software update will be installed to fix the issue. The fix will be free of charge. If you own one: General Motors will contact owners of affected cars, and owners can check whether their vehicles are affected by visiting entering their vehicle identification numbers at either the GM Owner Center website or the NHTSA website. Owners can then schedule a time to have the update installed. Related Video:
