I HAVE A VERY NICE RUNNING AND DRIVING 1999 CHEVY ASTRO CARGO VAN. IT IS AWD AND DOES GREAT ON THE ICE AND SNOW. I BOUGHT IT A FEW YEARS AGO TO DRIVE WHILE I SAVED UP FOR A NEWER TRUCK. I SAVED UP ENOUGH AND BOUGHT A $10,000 TRUCK SO THIS VAN JUST SITS CLEAN AND EMPTY. I HAD A LOCAL SHOP PUT A NEW BATTERY IN IT. A NEW ALTERNATOR NEW INTAKE GASKETS AND DROVE IT FOR 10,000 MILES WITH NO ISSUES. I PAID $750 FOR IT AND PUT $1,250 INTO IT. IT HAS GOOD MUD AND SNOW TIRES ON IT. IT HAS A ROOF RACK AND A TOW HITCH. IT HAS A TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER. EVERYTHING ON IT WORKS AS IT SHOULD. IT HAD 202,000 MILES ON IT WHEN I GOT IT IT IS NOW AT 212.000 + BUT HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. THE GUY I BOUGHT IT FROM TOOK THE BUMPER COVER OFF OF IT TO REPAIR ANOTHER VAN OF HIS. SO IT HAS NO FRONT BUMPER COVER. WITH A NEW HOOD AND BUMPER THIS VAN WOULD LOOK GREAT. IT CAN BE DRIVEN ANYWHERE AS IS. IT AVERAGES 15 MPG IT HAS THE 4.3 LITER VORTEC V6. LIKE I SAY IT RUNS AND DRIVES VERY WELL.

Chevy up to old EVs-equal-range-anxiety tricks in new Volt Olympics ad
Fri, Feb 14 2014General Motors is at it again with a new Chevrolet Volt TV commercial. Viewers of the Winter Olymics (at least in some markets) recently saw a TV ad in between the skating and the skiing that made no mention of the environmental benefits or freedom from the power of Big Oil that electric vehicles provide. No, this one was based on pure survival instinct. In the video, a father is driving down a highway, perhaps through the Mojave Desert. His young son is sitting in the Volt's backseat and asks what happens when the EV's battery runs out. "We'll have to cross that burning desert with snakes and cactus until we make it back to civilization," the dad tells his son as they pass the skeleton of a fallen bull. The fine print makes it clear that the actual maximum range is 342 miles. But there is hope. The father tells his son, with a beaming smile on his face, that the gas generator has kicked in and they're going to make it through the desert. As they wend their way to the horizon, a voice over says that Volt drivers who charge up regularly are making it 900 miles between fill ups. The fine print makes it clear that the actual official maximum range before you need to either plug in or fill up is 342 miles. This theme that emphasized range anxiety has been utilized by GM since the extended range Volt was launched in late 2010, despite the fact that Chevrolet now offers an all-electric vehicle in the Spark EV. Volt fans are praising the commercial, called The New Freedom, on the GM-Volt forum and you can see for yourself below. This content is hosted by a third party. Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
Motor Trend puts Chevy Camaro Z28 and Porsche 911 GT3 Head 2 Head
Mon, Dec 29 2014Motor Trend admits, "This is an unfair comparison." But that doesn't make it any less fun to watch when they pit a Camaro Z/28 against the Porsche 911 GT3. The former has a 7.0-liter V8 with 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque shifted through a six-speed manual. The latter has a 3.8-liter flat-six with 475 hp and 324 lb-ft shifted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yet those are only the little disparities – the big disparities are mass and money: the Camaro weighs 3,882 pounds and costs $76,150 as-tested, the Porsche weighs 3,267 pounds and costs $145,785. But they're both about hardcore performance, so MT takes them out on the street, to the drag strip, to the parking lot for figure eights and a skidpad test, and finally to Big Willow for Randy Pobst to give his professional assessment. Remember when a lotta people spent a lotta time debating Pirates vs. Ninjas? This is like that, only it's the "haul-ass good-time car" vs. the "track surgeon." Enjoy the debate in the video.
