You are bidding on a 2004 Cadillac XLR Star Black Edition.  This is #35 of 200 made.  CEO owned and driven 75 miles daily to and from the office as a trophy car.  Clear title in hand, although the carfax may say there is a lien it is satisfied for this sale.

This car was originally developed as the EVOQ while under development by General Motors and became the first generation XLR.  Manufactured on the Corvette assembly line, based on a Corvette Frame, with 50th Anniversary Corvette Magnetic Suspension, 5 speed manual shift Corvette Automatic Transmission and a more powerful than normal Northstar VVT 32 Valve Engine, this is the pinnacle American car in my opinion.  This car rivals the technology available in most new cars today,
and uses the same technology and supplier as the Mercedes SL500 & SL600 to achieve the hard top with such light weight and reliability.

If you are a shy person, do not purchase this car, because people ask about it every day you drive it.

The A/C is ice cold, heated and cooled seats make it much more comfortable with the top down.

This car has extensive dealer service records, nearly every component that was known to cause problems in this series of cars has been replaced by GM under warrantee.  Vehicle has been more than regularly serviced always using synthetic oils and top quality parts.

In early 2013 a new pair of driver & passenger seats and center console shifter were installed so the interior looks very fresh.  (At a cost of nearly $8000)  Also later in 2013, at 110,000 miles the transmission and torque converter was overhauled. Then at 122,000 miles, the entire engine was reworked, including the new and improved valve guides added to the rebuilt, ported and polished head as well as new electronic variable valve timing controllers, at a cost of over $5000.

As you can see from the photos, this is car number 3 in my stable of 13.  I love and care for this car just as I do my Bentley #1, Jaguar #4, Lotus #5, Shelby #6, Ferrari #2 and other toys.  Mileage is at 140,000 but I will keep driving it a few days a week until it sells, because I do love this car!

Factory standard features include:

Keyless Entry with two fobs included in the sale!

Adaptive cruise control.

Adaptive rain sensors.

Heads up display with radio, MPH, trailing distance when adaptive cruise is on and many other heads up features.

Steering wheel controls for Stereo, Cruise Control Gap & Voice Command.

Verbal command unit in steering wheel which includes navigation controls.

6 Disc CD Changer in dash with single disc DVD / CD / NAV player.

In dash navigation, including DVD viewing override, so you can watch movies while driving the car (great for passengers to enjoy, not so good for the driver to do).

Dual Zone Climate Control with Cooled and Heated seats for driver and passenger.

42 position electronic adjustable seats for driver and passenger.

TPMS sensors.

Onstar safety system.

Factory upgraded features include:

Bulgari Speedometer and Tachometer Gauges!

REAL WOOD VENEER INTERIOR TRIM, NOT THE PLASTIC USED IN LATER MODELS!

The tail lights and front grille are blacked out, with gun metal colored badges not available through Cadillac any longer.

She is riding on a fresh set of rear tires, and the set of rims are XLR-V factory that have no wear as they are new.

All functions perform as they should.

Non Factory Upgraded Features include:

All LED bright white lighting, including interior, trunk, license plate and doors.

D3 Racing Catalytic Converters installed

D3 Racing ECU Installed

(Google "D3 Cadillac" to see what I am talking about here.)

These D3 upgrades make the car a bit more muscular and responsive, but it is less "tame" at idle and sounds quite a bit more throaty than a standard XLR.

The bad news:

Under the hood, one of the hood mounts is missing so the hood will not stay up on it's own.
The car has several nicks and dings that you would expect given age & mileage.
There is a scratch on the tourneau cover that is about 1 inch in a triangular pattern.
Next to the driver seat there is a crack in the lateral entry panel trim cover.  This is a cheap plastic part from GM that has broken several times over the years so I am tired of replacing it.  If you are a big guy or gal, you will break this piece entering and leaving the car, if you are thin, you can replace it and it will stay fixed...
Paint is a 9 at 20 feet, a 8 at 10 feet and a 7 close up.
Photos of all major blemishes and scratches have been provided herein.

Thank you for viewing this auction and good luck with your bidding!

Petrolicious eats up Rita Hayworth's 1953 Cadillac Ghia

Wed, Feb 11 2015

The automotive industry has seem some wonderful transoceanic collaborations between America and Italy, from the Ford-powered De Tomasos of the 1960s to the alliance between Fiat and Chrysler today. Of course it's also seen unfortunate experiments in between like the Chrysler TC by Maserati and the Pininfarina-bodied Cadillac Allante. But before any of those, there was a beautiful tradition of rebodying American steel at the hands of Italian carrozzerie. And this could easily be among the most gorgeous of them all. It's a Cadillac Series 62 from 1953 with bodywork by Ghia. It's one of only two made, and has a star-studded history. The car was purchased by Aly Khan, prince of the Nizari Ismaili muslims and Pakistan's ambassador to the United Nations, for his wife... who just so happened to be the inimitable Rita Hayworth. They split up, but she held on to the car. Today it's part of the permanent collection at the Petersen Automotive Museum in LA, so the videographical artisans at Petrolicious went by to check it out. You'll want to as well in the five-minute short above.

Cadillac CT6 refresh has hints of Escala

Fri, Jun 16 2017

Almost a year after Cadillac showed its stunning Escala concept at Pebble Beach, we're finally seeing some of that car's influence on production cars. These spy shots reveal that the CT6 will undergo a mild refresh, and despite the camouflage, we can make out details that show it will have looks more in line with the concept. One of the defining characteristics of the Escala were narrow, horizontal headlights, while the current CT6 has long, vertical lamps that go up the tops of the fenders. This prototype seems to split the difference. The bases of the lights terminate higher up on the fascia, emulating the Escala, but still travel up the fenders. It also appears that the LED accent lights remain, but it's possible they've been separated from the main lamps to become more like the concept. The grille has also been revised. It's hard to make out the exact shape, but the insert is the same type of mesh as the Escala's, with little highlights that look like miniature Cadillac crests. The full-size, full-color crest also appears to sit higher in the grille, which is another nod toward the concept. The lower grille in the front bumper also looks larger and more angular. That doesn't really lean toward either model, but should give the car an edgier look. The rest of the car looks generally the same as the current model. Even the tail shows little indication of changes. It's possible that the rear taillights could have an Escala-like horizontal section at the top of the trunk lid, but there's nothing visible on this prototype that would confirm that change either way. Since this is a relatively mild refresh, we would expect to see it fully revealed early next year. Related Video:

Cadillac to bolster CT sedans with XT crossovers

Wed, 01 Oct 2014

Cadillac is moving swiftly to change up its naming scheme. Barely over a week ago we received our first indication that it was considering a different name its the upcoming flagship sedan previously known as LTS. Then Cadillac not only revealed the model would be called CT6, but announced that it would set the stage with a massive overhaul of its model nomenclature. And now we have another piece of the puzzle.
According to Forbes, Cadillac will not only rename its sedans with the letters CT, but will realign its utility vehicles under the banner of XT - both to be followed by a number indicating its place in the lineup. The one exception will be the Escalade, whose nameplate has such a strong following that it would be foolish for Cadillac to cast it aside. That leaves only the SRX (pictured above), but makes room for a new crop of crossovers said to be in the works.
It's a similar approach which Cadillac's new boss Johan de Nysschen took in revising the naming scheme at Infiniti. While it's bound to ruffle some feathers and scratch some heads in the beginning - especially since the company's current flagship sedan is called XTS - it's equally sure to make sense of it all in the long run. All we need to know now is what Nysschen and his marketing chief Uwe Ellinghaus plan to call the coupes.
