If you love something you must set it free. This truly is the reason for selling my favorite material possession. I cannot garage keep the Caddy right now as I am stuck in an upside down mortgage condo and because I also use it too frequently to drive around the local neighborhood day to day I cannot qualify for proper insurance to protect the car in case of an accident. At first I didn't care but now as I have invested close to $14K in the vehicle I can't bear to think if I was involved in an accident that some insurance company wouldn't reimburse me to cover that investment simply due to the fact that I can't get the proper coverage. I would rather sell the vehicle off to a Cadillac enthusiast who would be willing to take her just that little bit further towards a complete restoration, get the antique show car insurance, and be able to give her the proper home she deserves. The car I believe has saved my life. Before I had it I drove rear wheel sports cars and was admittedly a pretty lousy driver, always going too fast and I ended up in some bad wrecks, my last leaving me out of commission for a month or so. After all that I decided to go another route and I bought this car and I immediately began to notice that I was no longer racing around or cutting people off. I was driving cautiously, casually, and most importantly very comfortably. When you're in this caddy you are always just feeling carefree, happy, and content. My driving record has since become clean, my insurance rates have dropped, and overall I just feel better and safer being out on the road. I even laugh as I see drivers doing what I used to do racing from light to light, hard breaking, and looking constantly pissed off and miserable. I pull up next to them at the light and they look over at me and either smile, laugh, give a thumbs up, wink, or wave. I am asked constantly about the car around town. People always are always friendly and want to talk about it, complimenting me on how cool it looks and wanting to know the details about everything.
The car does qualify as an antique as it is over 25 years old and antique plates could be sought after for the vehicle although I never did. The CD player installed by a previous owner plays regular CDs as well as MP3 CDs, has a remote, and works great. The AC system was replaced by the newer system that only requires charging it when the Freon eventually runs out, so it's updated to being eco-friendly. There is a toggle switch put in beneath the steering wheel to choose between blowing either heat or AC. (When the light is on it is on AC mode) The car has passed all MD state inspections and emissions regulations, every time no problems. This same model car has been featured in the movie "The Last Boy Scout" starring Bruce Willis. In the car chase scene drives down the side of a cliff in LA, off the roof of a house, lands upside down in a swimming pool, explodes, and then Bruce Willis goes over and empties about a full clip into it anyways to make sure no one survives. (http://www.moviemistakes.com/picture112297) The same car model in maroon color was also more recently featured in the movie "In Time" with Justin Timberlake, driven once again by the bad guys chasing JT. (I couldn't find a clip sorry) And of course you have a great classic commercial where the rich polo player wins the trophy and gives it to the trophy wife, although the car is white and has a sunroof in the commercial it is the Elegante version I believe not the base version I have but still, funny to watch. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFWTSfJSMQk) On this note, if you happen to work in Hollywood and want to purchase the vehicle just for a retro bad guy movie and blow it up that would be alright with me as at least it would live on in the movie memory.
I have an old Carfax report from 2009 when I bought that shows no accidents or damage to the vehicle ever reported on it and I have never had an accident in the vehicle myself either. I also have a letter from the immediate previous owner and they claimed to have receipts and spent roughly $9K on the vehicle over the years, $3K of that just within the last year before selling it to me in 2009. I can't say one way or the other about them as I don't have proof of all of their receipts but I do have my own records I've kept and all the receipts which I added up and compiled into a spreadsheet. I've spent over $6K in parts and about $8K+ in labor since early 2007. The odometer has rolled over from previous owners past the 99,999 and is now showing under 9,000 miles. For a full restoration it would need a Cadillac factory paint job costing another ~$6K likely as well as the other things I listed before addressed and fixed if it was to become a show car but even as it is just right now it is still pretty awesome in my opinion and in total usable condition. Appraised just recently for $8400 this year. There just aren't that many hard top older 80s models Cadillac cars around these days anymore, especially ones in this great condition that have the black paint on black leather combo. Forget about it. It's just a great car to putt around town in with your girl where she can get all cozy up next to you as well in those big cushy leather front seats that are only separated by an arm rest that can be put up or down easily enough. And talk about state of the art for 1985, the dash display is all digital and both front seats have full automatic controls for front, back, tilt, and lift.
I have that old clean Carfax report from when I bought in 2009, the clean ebay car report from 2009 as well, additional pictures of the car, the recent appraisal report showing it's valued at least at $8400 I had done this year, and my comprised excel spreadsheet documenting all the expenses of the work and parts done over my years as the owner since 2009. So if you would seriously like to bid I can assist with these as well to help you make the purchase decision. I know my buy it now price is high and it's probably because I'm struggling to say goodbye, so make me an offer I can't refuse.

GM announces net 220 job increase as Trump visits Michigan
Wed, Mar 15 2017GM announced today that about 900 jobs would be added (or, importantly, retained) ahead of President Trump's arrival in Michigan, where he is expected to discuss his plan to roll back fuel economy standards. The timing of the announcement is almost certainly not coincidental, as appending it to a Trump visit gives it a higher profile and dovetails with the President's jobs agenda. It's less likely the decision itself was made for those reasons, but the free PR boost is a nice bonus. As for those 900 jobs themselves, they aren't all new jobs. The only net gain is approximately 220 jobs at the Romulus Powertrain Plant, which produces the 10-speed automatic transmission that's proliferating through the company's lineup. The 180 jobs at Flint Assembly and 500 jobs at Lansing Delta Township are retained jobs – that is to say, spots the company found for workers who would otherwise have been laid off. By the way, the Flint jobs will help with production of heavy-duty pickups, and the Lansing jobs are to produce the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Finding jobs for manufacturing workers in the auto sector, whether new or retained, is admirable. No matter how GM couches it, the company has created or retained a total of 7,000 jobs this year, and its total reinvestment in US production is around $1 billion. But these decisions are business ones, not political ones – timing the announcements to make them seem inspired by economic policy, or the political situation, is simply smart PR. Petrolicious eats up Rita Hayworth's 1953 Cadillac Ghia
Wed, Feb 11 2015The automotive industry has seem some wonderful transoceanic collaborations between America and Italy, from the Ford-powered De Tomasos of the 1960s to the alliance between Fiat and Chrysler today. Of course it's also seen unfortunate experiments in between like the Chrysler TC by Maserati and the Pininfarina-bodied Cadillac Allante. But before any of those, there was a beautiful tradition of rebodying American steel at the hands of Italian carrozzerie. And this could easily be among the most gorgeous of them all. It's a Cadillac Series 62 from 1953 with bodywork by Ghia. It's one of only two made, and has a star-studded history. The car was purchased by Aly Khan, prince of the Nizari Ismaili muslims and Pakistan's ambassador to the United Nations, for his wife... who just so happened to be the inimitable Rita Hayworth. They split up, but she held on to the car. Today it's part of the permanent collection at the Petersen Automotive Museum in LA, so the videographical artisans at Petrolicious went by to check it out. You'll want to as well in the five-minute short above.
Electric Cadillac Lyriq, Chevy Bolt EUV and more GM electric cars are on the way
Wed, Mar 4 2020GM’s murky and somewhat secretive electric car plan is falling into place, as the company dumped a massive amount of information about whatÂ’s in the pipeline at an event at its Warren, Michigan campus today. New EVs are going to be popping up across the GM brand lineup, with new entries from Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and Buick in progress. We also learned some big news about GMÂ’s new Ultium battery tech today, but check out this story for all of those nitty-gritty details. The electric vehicle onslaught will begin with the Cadillac Lyriq, an electric SUV thatÂ’s already been teased out. Naming it the Lyriq is the news today. No explanation for the name was provided, so weÂ’ll have to wait for April to learn more. GM didnÂ’t specifically say if the Lyriq would be launched at the NY Auto Show, but that show (assuming coronavirus doesnÂ’t cancel it) will begin on April 8 this year. Next up in the order of events is the GMC Hummer electric truck that we know will be launching on May 20. This truck will use GMÂ’s modular Ultium battery technology. However, the wait to buy a GMC Hummer will be a long one, as the truck isnÂ’t going to dive into production until fall 2021 at GMÂ’s Detroit-Hamtramck plant. GM revealed that its new modular Ultium batteries can be configured anywhere from a 50 kWh pack to a 200 kWh pack depending on the application. Range is estimated to be about 400 miles on the upper end with the largest battery pack, and GM continues to boast about a 0-60 mph acceleration time of three seconds. Charging estimates for the Ultium battery-equipped Hummer EV were also provided. GM says its truck platform will have 800-volt battery packs and be capable of 350 kW fast-charging. Time estimates werenÂ’t given, but those numbers suggest the truck will be a rapid charger. The Hummer truck on hand, which was the same that previously starred in GMC's Super Bowl spot, showed off removable roof panels that store in the frunk, as well as what appeared to be a version of GMC's Multi-Pro tailgate. It also featured sail panels on the sides, similar to those in front of the bed of the Chevy Avalanche. In addition to the Hummer, expect to see a couple Chevys launching. GM says the refreshed Bolt EV will be launched “in late 2020” with a refreshed interior and what appear to be thicker front seats.
