Even though this car is nearly as old as I am it’s been my most loved car of all the cars I’ve owned!  With that said it’s killing me that I have to part with it but I’m in the process of relocating overseas and there isn’t an easy way to take it with me.  So, up for sale it goes, along with pretty much everything else I own (keep watching for more items to be listed in addition to what’s already listed, including a 1985 Audi 5000 wagon).

This is everything I can think to tell you about it:

GENERAL

1.     It was purchased in early 2010 from a dealer in Pennsylvania and it was shipped to Phoenix

CONDITION

2.     Numerous repairs have been made to it since I’ve owned it and I prepared a spreadsheet outlining not only the repairs that have made but also the condition of everything I can think of including all the options and their respective functionality.  It also outlines everything included in the sale including documentation, parts and accessories.  If you would like a copy of the spreadsheet, send me a note through eBay and it will be sent to you

3.     Overall it is in very good condition

4.     It has the diesel engine which is largely what motivated me to buy it (always loved diesels)

5.     It is my daily driver so as of the time of the listing it has 100,701 miles (there will be more miles on it before the auction ends but I travel 100% for business so it’s usually parked in covered parking at the airport for days at a time so it doesn’t get driven a whole lot)

6.     It was repainted at some point and is currently white but I believe the original color was dark blue as there is an area of the door jam of the rear driver’s side where the original color appears to be revealed (not 100% sure on the original color though)

7.     It has no visible rust except in one place where the fender/hood/windshield come together (pointed out in the photos)

8.     It is a monster on the highway…keeping it at or below the speed limit can be a challenge because it’s so quiet and it just keeps pulling

9.     I’m not a lead-footed driver and have enjoyed pretty good gas mileage which I estimate to be 25 in the city and 30 on the highway

10. It has passed every annual smog test with the exception of the first one which was caused by the timing being off and has since been fixed

11. In a strange twist of fate, it was rear-ended on Friday, May 16, 2014 while I was running errands (it’s still my daily driver and the estimate from the insurance company outlining parts and labor to repair it is included in the photos).  The photos show the condition and I am happy to include the information for the place I’ve gotten any parts my mechanic has not been able to get on his own (the parts prices in the estimate are all from this place)

12. It also has the moon roof that is fully functional and is another reason that motivated me to buy this particular car

13. If you’d like to speak with my mechanic I’ll be happy to provide his name/phone number (just send me a note through eBay)

14. There are no leaks, noises, or other mechanical issues me or my mechanic is aware of as of the time of this listing (my mechanic has mentioned a few times how good the mechanical condition of the car is) and it always starts with barely a full turn of the key once the Wait light goes off

15. I’ve driven it on a few long trips (200 miles each way) through the Arizona mountains and never had any issues

16. Things I know need to be repaired:
a. There is a crack in the dashboard between the vent opening and windshield that is approximately 2” in length (see photos)
b. The cruise control, despite nearly every part in the system being replaced, is still not working (see Excel spreadsheet for more information)
c. There are some rock chips in the paint in various places (see photos)
d. There are dings/scuff marks/scratches in the bumpers and protective rubber trim that appear to be from parallel parking (see photos)
e. Both rear window motors should be replaced (they both work but the passenger side usually only works after the car is moving and the engine is revving at a higher RPM)
f. The front driver’s side seat cushion cover has a few tears and the top edge of the rear seatback has a tear that is approximately 2” in length (see photos for all)
g. Part of the front driver’s side window seal was replaced to get the rear edge of the window to make a seal and it was later discovered that the window was out of alignment and was fixed
h. The steering wheel has two cracks, one at the top and one at the bottom of the rim (see photos)
i. A couple of the door armrest covers have either a tear or nick in them (see photos)
j. When the front driver’s interior door panel was removed to replace the window motor, the front half of the rubber trim that runs between the window and the door panel came off and my mechanic wasn’t able to find it (see photos)
k. It may need an alignment
l. The handle of the ashtray has two screw holes in it from the previous owner and an entire replacement ashtray assembly is included in the sale (see photos of both)
m. The direction louvers of the far right dashboard vent are misaligned (not sure if it can be fixed or needs to be repaired and see photos)
n. The upper edge of the front driver’s door window seal needs to be re-glued because there is about an 8” section where it came loose and a little water gets in when washing it with a hose (see photos)
o. The panel that covers the bottom side of the dashboard, above the foot wells, needs to be put back into place (it’s in the trunk, the screws are in the ashtray, and it was removed in the process of trying to repair the cruise control)

CONDITION/FEATURE/REPAIR SPREADSHEET
I created an Excel spreadsheet with details on all the repairs that were made, condition issues, everything included in the sale, as well as the current state of every function/option in the owner’s manual.  I could not figure out how to embed the image in the eBay listing so please send a note through eBay if you’d like to see it.

LOGISTICS/SHIPPING/TEST DRIVE/INSPECTION

46. Since I’m in the process of relocating overseas, I don’t care what it sells for as long as it goes to a good home

47. I’m happy to work directly with a shipper should you choose to use one (I’ll provide all my contact information following the conclusion of the auction) and all costs/responsibility/damage related to shipping are the responsibility of the buyer.  And for what it’s worth, this is the second car I’ve had shipped and I found the process to be relatively simple as there are numerous shipping services and from Pennsylvania to Phoenix was $750.00 for this car

48. The car must be picked up by the buyer/shipper/designated agent within seven business days following the conclusion of the auction unless my travel schedule requires it to be longer, in which case I will let the buyer know as soon as I know, because I do not want to be responsible for anything that could happen to it while it’s  still in my possession

49. I travel 100% for business so I apologize in advance as my responses to inquiries may be slow

50. Also because I travel 100% for business it may take a bit of effort to arrange pick-up/shipping logistics and I apologize for that in advance as well.  However, my intention is to make the process as simple as possible

51. If you live close enough and would like to stop by and see it and/or take it for a test drive, you are more than welcome keeping in mind the following:

a. The person driving the car must be licensed and insured
b. The license and insurance must both be valid, match, and be presented to me prior to being allowed to drive the car
c. Reckless or aggressive driving is not allowed
d. Any moving violations while driving the car are the responsibility of the driver
e. Having a mechanic inspect the vehicle is encouraged and I must be present during the inspection (again, I’ll do everything possible to make the process as simple as possible keeping in mind my travel schedule)
f. You’re more than welcome to drive it both on the highway and side streets
g. I must be in the car during the test drive

52. My license plate(s) will be removed prior to releasing it to the buyer/shipper

53. The car is for sale locally so the eBay listing may be ended at any time

PAYMENT

54. Payment is via cashier's check or cash in-person.  I'm also willing to allow a wire transfer into my bank account.  If this option is desired the information needed will be provided following the conclusion of the auction, in which case let me know.

55. Payment in full must be received within seven business days (same timeframe for pick-up) following the conclusion of the auction and the $500.00 deposit be cleared/approved through PayPal and/or my bank prior to release to the buyer/shipper/designated agent

56. Should a fail-to-pay situation arise, in order to have my eBay/PayPal commission fees refunded, an unpaid case must be opened which will result in an automatic negative mark on the buyers account from eBay

ADDITIONAL PHOTOS

57. Here is a link to additional photos and documents: http://s1312.photobucket.com/user/seville3/media/Cadillac%20Seville/IMG_2258_zpse9d44881.jpg.html

58. I’m not sure what people may want photos of so if there is something you’d like a photo of and isn’t included in the current photos, let me know.  I’ll take the photos if it’s something I’m able to capture in a photo and upload it to the photos link above (the night time photos are to show the functioning of the lights, both interior and exterior)

DISCLAIMER

59. It is being sold as-is and where-is

60. Also, keep in mind that any car can have something stop working, especially vintage cars and I’m guessing if you’re looking at this type of car you are more than likely already aware of that

QUESTIONS

61. If there are any questions not already answered, by all means let me know.

Happy bidding!

GM’s Charlie Wilson was right: Stronger regulations can help U.S. automakers

Fri, Oct 26 2018

Charlie Wilson had been the president and CEO of General Motors before being nominated to become secretary of defense by Dwight Eisenhower. During his Senate confirmation hearings, he controversially said, "For years I thought what was good for our country was good for General Motors, and vice versa." And he was right. While car companies aren't necessarily the most progressive when it comes to things that might have the slightest possibility of political blowback, General Motors should be credited for doing something absolutely forthright in this regard with its announcement that it wants the federal U.S. government not to squash the California Air Resources Board's emissions requirements but to actually create a 50-state "National Zero Emissions Vehicle" program that, in the words of Mark Reuss, executive vice president and president, Global Product Group and Cadillac, "will drive the scale and infrastructure investments needed to allow the U.S. to lead the way to a zero emission future." Filing comments to the Safer Affordable Fuel-Efficient Vehicles Rule for Model Years 2021-2026 Passenger Cars and Light Trucks is one thing. But a graphic the company developed for this announcement — shown above — is something else entirely, something that is absolutely credible, creative and clever. There is a photo of a Chevrolet Bolt EV driving along a highway, which seems to be in Marin County (based on the blurred San Francisco skyline in the background). Text on the photo states: "It's Time for American Leadership in Zero Emissions Vehicles." It seems to say, in effect, "If we want to make America great again, then we're going to do it by leading in technology, not by retreating behind weakened regulations." General Motors understands that the auto market is globally competitive, and if U.S.-based companies are going to be in the game, then they'd better be able to out-innovate the companies based elsewhere, where emissions and economy standards are not being weakened. President Trump's new limo spotted testing at high speed

Thu, May 25 2017

What you're looking at is no ordinary limo. Look past the swirly camouflage and you'll see what appears to be a Cadillac, but don't let those looks fool you. This is the new Beast, otherwise known as Cadillac One, and codenamed by the Secret Service as Stagecoach. This is the car that will shuttle President Trump to and fro. It's hard to get a sense of scale from these images, but this car is huge. It's very likely built atop a heavy-duty truck platform, which is necessary due to the thick armor-like bodywork that's hermetically sealed to keep POTUS safe and sound. It's hard to tell for certain, but it appears this Beastie is riding on Goodyear Regional RHS II tires, which would otherwise be used on trucks and buses. Translation: this thing is heavy. The Beast is ostensibly badged as a Cadillac, and it wears the latest version of Caddy's corporate grille, badge, and upright headlamps at the front. From the rear, there's a hint of Rolls-Royce Phantom, with rear glass that tapers elegantly into the deck lid. In between is a massive slab-sided passenger compartment that's rumored to seat as many as seven passengers. These shots were snapped at GM's Milford Proving Grounds. It seems The Beast is undergoing some high-speed tests, though high-speed here is relative. Those Goodyears are only rated for 70 miles per hour or so, and we doubt the big 8.1-liter gasoline-fueled V8 engine is geared to push the President much faster than that, anyway. Related Video:

GM, UAW poaching Nissan workers in Tennessee

Tue, Sep 8 2015

General Motors and the United Auto Workers are going on a recruitment drive at the Spring Hill factory in Tennessee, and they're hoping to poach some skilled workers from Nissan's nearby plant in Smyrna, TN. The General and the union even bought a billboard advertising for industrial electricians near the Japanese automaker's facility, according to the Daily News Journal. The reason for the billboard was simple. "GM was short of electricians," said Tim Stannard, the president of the UAW local at Spring Hill, to the Daily News Journal. The factory currently builds the Chevrolet Equinox but has a contract to assemble the next generation of Ecotec engines and the Cadillac XT5, which replaces the SRX. Thanks to the $185-million deal, employment there is expected to double by May 2016, according to Stannard, with roughly 1,800 additional union jobs. Beyond just several billboards, GM has job postings online for the Spring Hill plant looking for workers with specific skills. There has already been some interest in the positions among Nissan employees, Stannard indicated. According to a recent study by the Center for Automotive Research, the average GM worker currently makes $58 an hour, including benefits. Comparatively, Nissan pays an average of $42 an hour with benefits. The General's number could change in the coming weeks because its contract with the UAW is about to expire, and higher wages are among the major negotiating points.
