Vehicle Condition: THE “ORIGINAL” INTERIOR OF THIS 1957
ELDORADO IS IN AMAZING “SURVIVOR” CONDITION! THIS BEAUTIFULLY STYLED
VINTAGE AMERICAN LUXURY CAR RUNS AND DRIVES WONDERFULLY!
This Eldorado is 57 years old, so some signs of age are to be
expected! Let me first say that much of this car appears to be in amazing
unrestored original condition. However, I’m sure that a few items were
replaced or rebuilt through the years. I know the tires were replaced,
and I assume the engine and transmission were rebuilt as it runs like it was
new!
This Eldorado has an amazing original “survivor” interior in excellent
condition. As would be expected, the clock is not currently working, very
common for a vehicle this age. The original factory radio does come on,
but does not play. I do believe the antenna
is not plugged in, so that could be the problem. The padded dash looks great and is soft and supple. The glove box lock is not working and the
door is being held closed with a spring.
The driver side ash tray is being held closed with silicone.
The exterior is beautiful but not perfect! The chrome bumpers have
been rechromed. The front bumpers look
great, but do show some issues on the driver’s side lower piece. The rear
bumpers and tail light housings do have pitting, some corrosion and pealing. There are three very minor windshield wiper
scuffs that I believe will polish out. The paint has a good shine but would benefit
from a good polishing. The paint does
show some age as there is some cracking on the hood. There are indications
that the car may have had some minor body repair and the car was resprayed
sometime in the past. There is a scuff on the right rear stainless that
can be repaired. The sabre wheels show
some pitting and minor chips.
The trunk interior is in beautiful condition and holds what appears to be
the original spare tire. Most everything
under the hood appears to be stock original components that have been refreshed
as some time. The license plates shown
on the car are not included in the sale.
The odometer reading above is as it reads and is
most likely not the total miles.

New V6 engines are only the start at Cadillac
Fri, Mar 20 2015Cadillac debuted its new family of V6 engines Friday, but that's not all General Motors' luxury brand has in store for the coming years. The six-cylinder powerplants will certainly help Cadillac in the near term, but they're just two of the many parts of the company's future strategy. GM has invested $12 billion in Cadillac to help the brand grow over the next five years, and the company will launch eight new products between now and 2020. That all starts with the launch of the CT6 flagship later this year – a fullsize luxury sedan we'll see for the first time in New York on March 31. The CT6 will introduce several new features and technologies to the Cadillac range, and with its launch also begins the slow restructuring of Cadillac's model-naming system. The new nomenclature means CT and XT badges for cars and utilities, respectively. Cadillac says that of the eight new vehicles it plans to launch by 2020, five of them will be first-time offerings in market segments where the brand currently does not play. But it's not just about new products – new powertrains are an important part of the Cadillac story, too. After the new V6 engines – a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter and a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter engine – launch later this year in the 2016 ATS, CTS and CT6, the company says it has a strategy for V8 power – possibly a twin-turbo application – as well as future electrification. Cadillac also says it's working on adding four- and six-cylinder diesel powertrains, though it's unclear which vehicles will make use of those engines. This new six-cylinder engine family is indeed important, with Cadillac's chief engineer, David Leone, calling it the "most advanced V6 in the industry." With 335 horsepower, the 3.6-liter engine is the highest output, naturally aspirated V6 powerplant Cadillac has done – and that's SAE-certified, and on regular fuel. Beyond that, the 3.0-liter mill (pictured at right) marks the first application of GM's active fuel management system on a twin-turbocharged engine. This means that when full power isn't necessary, the TTV6 can run as a 2.0-liter V4 in order to save fuel. New transmissions are also part of the V6 engine story. GM's all-new eight-speed Hydra-Matic 8L45 gearbox will be paired to the 3.6-liter V6, and the 3.0-liter TTV6 will use the company's existing 8L90 transmission that is already found in the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups (with the 6.2-liter engine).
It's a V8 party! Lexus IS 500, Cadillac Escalade and more | Autoblog Podcast #667
Fri, Feb 26 2021In this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Road Test Editor Zac Palmer. It's all V8s all the time this week, starting with the Land Rover Defender V8 unveiling, Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance debut and pricing announcement on the Jeep Wrangler 392. Next, they move on to what they've been driving. Spoiler alert: That means more V8 talk. Zac has been driving the Cadillac Escalade with the 6.2-liter V8 and BMW M550i with its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. Greg and Zac take a pause from the V8 theme by discussing their shared time in our long-term Acura TLX. From this, they segue into a "Spend My Money" feature about garage lifts to finish the show. Cadillac previews upcoming new XT5 crossover [UPDATE]
Thu, Sep 10 2015UPDATE: Cadillac has released another three images, which we've added to the gallery above. Cadillac is gearing up to unveil its new XT5 crossover at the Dubai Motor Show in November. We've already seen what it'll look like - from a couple of angles, anyway - but the all-American luxury automaker has given us another taste of what's to come with a quartet of images released on its official Facebook page. Set to replace the SRX that's now six years old, the all-new XT5 adopts the new design language we've seen on newer Cadillacs of late. That's most particularly emphasized with those vertically integrated LED headlights. The sharply creased styling is also signature Cadillac, as is the egg-crate grille capped by the brand's wreath-less new emblem. The dark brown paint job also looks like it has a deep metallic flake to it, offset by satin brightwork where you might have once expected to see glinting chrome. (Then again, it could just be reflecting a uniform backdrop.) The XT5 is expected to be the first of several new Caddy crossovers to wear the letters XT. A smaller model (likely to be dubbed XT3) is tipped to slot in below, with a larger XT7 to slot in above – but still below the defiantly truck-based Escalade that's not about to go anywhere anytime soon. Sedans will continue to start their nameplates with the letters CT. But after a dozen years, the letters SRX will be retired from the Cadillac lexicon. Related Video:
