97 Cadillac Sts, Rebuilt Engine With Head Studs on 2040-cars
Saint Louis, Missouri, United States
Engine rebuilt with new Main, Rod bearings, Oil Pump, Rings, Primary timing chain, tension-er and guides, Head gaskets, New style Rear main seal which requires press in, Front seal, new power steering pump, New A/C compressor. 2 New front tires.
Things re-used and not replaced. Rod, Pistons, Cam gears, Crank gear, Intermediate gear, Cam timing chains, Known issues with car -- 1) throws code P0340 "camshaft circuit malfunction" Sensor appears to be sending pulses as measured with my meter. Sensor has been replaced , Ignition control module replaced, PCM replaced and wiring checked. 2) Control rods for ride stability control system are missing so "Information system" displays ride control systems messages on display. 3) ABS light on, possibly linked to missing ride stability control rods. 4) Fuel gauge does not work, stuck on Full. 5) A/C compressor will not turn on when using dash controls but will when jumped passed AC relay. Appears that circuit feeding voltage to control circuit of relay is at fault. 6) Climate control system blows air mostly out of Defrost vents only. I suspect this to be a vacuum related issue but don't have the vacuum hose routing diagram to verify and confirm. My opinion on who may want to buy this car -- If you have a good car that needs a Northstar motor then this would probably work out for you. Not sure of all the years and models that this would fit into but would probably be most all Cadillac's from 95-2005 or so that use the 4.6 Northstar V8. Below are a couple of links that you could probably contact and find out for sure. I will attempt to do the same and will provide the update when I find out but I encourage you to check for yourself. For others if you like this Cadillac and feel confident that you could fix the above listed issues or know someone that could then this might work out for you. I have a video of the engine rebuild, send a email if you want a link to the Youtube video. BUYER responsible for pickup or shipping of vehicle. |

2016 Cadillac ATS-V brandishes 450 horses and 6-speed manual
Tue, 11 Nov 2014Details about the hotly anticipated 2016 Cadillac ATS-V are tumbling out, and they look to be everything we could ask for in a high-performance Caddy coupe.
According to Road & Track, the ATS-V will use a version of the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 from the CTS Vsport, but the wick will be turned up to 450 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. In glorious news for driving enthusiasts everywhere, that potent mill will be available with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic.
According to R&T, the engine has a heap of high-performance tech to let it make the extra ponies, including titanium connecting rods, two water-to-air intercoolers, titanium turbines for the turbos and an additional radiator dedicated to cooling the gearbox and electronically locking differential. Keeping it all planted are a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, and a suspension with 50 percent more roll stiffness.
Cool car technology is cool until it breaks
Fri, Mar 27 2015Ah, technology – the beautiful date that impresses all your friends but costs you a fortune to keep happy, up-to-date, and working. Automotive News puts some numbers to the economic toll we're paying to jockey this technological Trojan horse, an analysis it sums up with "Technology is great - until you have to replace it." Back in 2000, for instance, you could replace a Cadillac Escalade taillight lens for $56.08, or replace the entire unit for $220.49. Crack the rear lens on your 2015 Escalade and you have to buy a new unit for $795 - there's no such thing as just replacing a lens anymore. What about headlights? It was $210 for an Escalade headlight in 2000, it's $1,650 for the current unit (pictured). This is nothing we didn't know, these are just hard numbers to demonstrate it. Edmunds recently provided the same with its sledgehammer-bashing of the 2015 Ford F-150, Tesla Model S buyers have been shrieking about repair costs to their electric sedan's all-aluminum bodywork, and used-car sites are full of articles about which expensive-to-repair features to steer clear of if you want to avoid big repair bills. Those expensive bits increase the price of a car - Kelley Blue Book says the average price of a car is now more than $33,000 - and that raises rates for repairs and insurance. This comes in spite of some carmakers that have been collaborating with insurance companies and repair shops at the design stage in order to engineer parts that are easier and less expensive to replace. But the tech can have its cost-saving benefits: a 2011 study by the Highway Loss Data Institute found that Volvos fitted with that company's City Safety feature "filed 27 percent fewer property-damage liability claims" than luxury SUVs without it, and just last month the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety called adaptive headlights one of the top four crash-preventing technologies on cars today (after coming out against them in 2006). So yes, the technology costs a mint when it needs to be fixed - but being able to avoid an accident in the first place might make it worth it. GM announces net 220 job increase as Trump visits Michigan
Wed, Mar 15 2017GM announced today that about 900 jobs would be added (or, importantly, retained) ahead of President Trump's arrival in Michigan, where he is expected to discuss his plan to roll back fuel economy standards. The timing of the announcement is almost certainly not coincidental, as appending it to a Trump visit gives it a higher profile and dovetails with the President's jobs agenda. It's less likely the decision itself was made for those reasons, but the free PR boost is a nice bonus. As for those 900 jobs themselves, they aren't all new jobs. The only net gain is approximately 220 jobs at the Romulus Powertrain Plant, which produces the 10-speed automatic transmission that's proliferating through the company's lineup. The 180 jobs at Flint Assembly and 500 jobs at Lansing Delta Township are retained jobs – that is to say, spots the company found for workers who would otherwise have been laid off. By the way, the Flint jobs will help with production of heavy-duty pickups, and the Lansing jobs are to produce the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Finding jobs for manufacturing workers in the auto sector, whether new or retained, is admirable. No matter how GM couches it, the company has created or retained a total of 7,000 jobs this year, and its total reinvestment in US production is around $1 billion. But these decisions are business ones, not political ones – timing the announcements to make them seem inspired by economic policy, or the political situation, is simply smart PR.
