Cadillac CT6 shows its face in 2015 Oscars ad [w/video]
Mon, Feb 23 2015Have you been watching the 2015 Oscars? No? Then you've missed your very first look at Cadillac's long-awaited flagship, the imaginatively named CT6. Don't worry folks, we've got the entire spot, titled The Daring: No Regrets, available below. Marking the start of the new Dare Greatly campaign, the 60-second spot will be joined by three others during the Oscars' broadcast, and features a number of unconventional luminaries from the worlds of fashion, finance, technology and film, contrasting their common beginnings with their exceptional accomplishments. It's a powerful spot... and then the CT6 arrives. Asking "How dare a 112-year-old carmaker reinvent itself," a white CT6 is spotted (viewed through what looks like a bad Instagram filter) cruising slowly down a New York (we assume) street. The car itself is big and wide – properly American and Cadillac in its proportions – and features a very handsome evolution of the latest CTS' styling, with a new take on the brand's distinctive headlight and grille design. Cadillac finds a few more horsepower for ATS-V
Wed, Mar 25 2015We've rarely found cause to complain about a car getting more power, and guess what? That's not going to change here. After initially announcing that the new ATS-V would come to market with a Corvette-matching 455 horsepower, Cadillac has come back with an SAE-certified 464 horsepower. That, as Automobile points out, puts the high-performance ATS in spitting distance of the base Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and its 469 hp. Anyone else feeling bad for owners of the 425-hp BMW M3? While the ATS-V is getting a bit more grunt, somehow, we doubt Cadillac will adjust its previously published performance figures. Expect 60 miles per hour to arrive in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 185 mph. As of this writing, a lucky Autoblog staffer is lapping the ATS-V around Circuit of the Americas in Austin as part of the sedan's big launch. So while we can't fill you in on its real-world performance just yet, expect a big update soon. Related Video:
2015 Cadillac ATS-V gunning for the BMW M3
Mon, 03 Jun 2013Spy photographers have spotted something interesting. Cadillac engineers have taken to public streets with the upcoming ATS-V and a playmate: the current BMW M3 Sedan. The prototype seen here wears a more aggressive front fascia, flared fenders and beefy brakes. Quad exhaust tips and what looks to be a small lip spoiler on the trunk deck sum up the most obvious visual changes over the standard ATS outside. Word has it the ATS-V will bow with the same twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 available in the nose of the XTS. In that application, the engine is good for a stout 410 horsepower, which should be more than enough to hustle the sedan around a track.
Other details are still murky, however. First and foremost: will GM offer the ATS-V with an honest manual transmission, like it does with its big brother, the CTS-V? Something tells us we won't have long to wait to find out - the machine will likely bow next year as a 2015 model. Until then, dig in on our newest bevy of spy photos.
