You are viewing the king of luxury "barge cars" of the early 1970's.  A 1973  CADILLAC FLEETWOOD BROUGHAM.  Nothing was longer or heavier - not Lincoln or Imperial of that era.  The only car in standard production which was larger, was the Cadillac series 75 (which was the commerical chassis for ambulances, herses, and limousines.)  If you owned a Fleetwood Brougham sedan, it was a status symbol in American culture before the downsizing and fuel crisis that soon followed.

The interior of the car is a must see.  No cracks, sun-fading, rips, tears, dents, or stains.  Car has been garage kept all of its life.   The interior is crushed mustard velour with embroidery (...goovy).  Carpeting is all original, thick, with no stains.  The rear seat passengers have carpeted leg rests - a feature only found on the Fleetwoods.  All electrics operate on the car - power windows, locks, and the driver's six-way power seat.   The front seat is a split 60/40 design.    All interior lights work including the reading lights on the "C Panel".  What does not work is the dial clock in the dashboard, the original 8 track tape (radio works though) and the cruise control (which can be replaced/repaired).

Original rubber (color correct) floor mats with the Cadillac crest come with the car.   The black vinyl roof is all original and is superior!  The exterior paint is the original factory Phoenix Gold Firemist (an extra charge option back then).  The flanks of the car are good but the horizontal surfaces are faded and will need a repaint  (main areas are the hood and trunk).    The very hard-to-find plastic fender fillers (1973 was the first model year for these due to the Federal Government mandate of 5 mph bumpers, which this car has)  are all there.

Air conditioning was changed over from the R12 to the R34 in June of 2007.  Blower is strong, but the air conditioning does not blow super cold air.   The caddy built 472 engine is strong coupled to a massive Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission which does have a very slow leak.  It is not enough to have the seal changed.    Tires are in excellant condition (high-end Michelin steel belted radials) and are the correct whitewall width (thin) and size at P235/75/R15s.

Underneath is excellant with NO RUST.  Does not burn oil.  No smoke from exhaust.

I have owned this car since November of 2006 and I love it, but must sell it for room.   I have had it garage kept with a custom made dust cover over it.   I have replaced the power steering pump and upgraded the exhaust with new mufflers and tailpipes  (dual exhaust).   The original owner of this car had a Cadillac dealership install a  "Rolls Royce grill front" on it in 1973.  This piece of equipment is unique.  The front has three Cadillac crests on it!   The Fleetwood standard hood stand-up Cadillac wreathed crest, the Cadillac crest on the Rolls Royce grill, and an additional chromed front licence plate shield with the crest on it.  Talk about over the top...  anybody looking at this monster rolling up behind them on the highway will take notice!

I have the original window sticker with all of the original factory installed options.  Plus additional original brochures from 1973.  Included with the sale of the car will be a nice hardback book about Cadillacs.   What a great package of Cadillac nostalgia for the Cadillac enthusiest.

The car will be sold with the brochures, hardback book, and the custom made dust cover.   I am requesting only serious bidders for this car.  If you are knowledgable about this era of American cars - this is an outstanding example for you to consider.   The car does need to be restored to be able to say its a "10".   -  but....this would be an easy restoration job, with hardly any work to be done on the interior and some work on the exterior.   No re-chroming needed.   Come see this car and what AMERICAN ENGINEERING was all about.

There was only 24,800 Fleetwoods made in 1973.   Few are on the road today.  This one is very driveable today and a head turner AS IS.

Cadillac Celestiq, Lyriq, Hummer, other future GM electric cars: Here's everything we saw at ‘EV Day’

Wed, Mar 4 2020

WARREN, Mich. — Today, General Motors held an “EV Day” event at its Warren, Michigan, campus to present its new “Ultium” battery technology, modular electric vehicle architecture and soon-to-come electric vehicles. Unfortunately, we were forbidden from bringing cameras into the event, so while we canÂ’t show you what we saw, we can tell you more about it. While we saw the previously teased Cadillac EV (which we now know to be called the Lyriq) and the GMC Hummer pickup teased during the Super Bowl, there were a number of other future cars at the event, which GM President Mark Reuss assured us are all real vehicles in the works. The biggest surprise came at the end of the event, though, in the Cadillac Celestiq electric sedan, which Reuss described as a future flagship that would be hand-built “very locally.” It had been hiding under a dark sheet all morning, with the front and rear illuminated Cadillac emblems shining from underneath. When the wraps came off, we saw a long, white, four-seat fastback sedan. The 23-inch wheels were pushed out to the very corners of the car, giving it what appeared to be a very long wheelbase. The model on the stage had no side mirrors or visible door handles. The grille mirrored that of the Lyriq crossover next to it, with integrated lighting in lieu of the usual mesh or slats youÂ’d see in an internal combustion car. The entire roof, all the way until it tapered to the tail of the vehicle, was tinted glass. In back, vertical tail lighting ran down the C-pillar before turning rearward across the top of the trunk. Inside, everything below the beltline of the windows — essentially all but the headrests and top portion of the steering wheel, was hidden from view. Behind the Celestiq, a large digital display showed a rendering of its interior. The dash consists of a pillar-to-pillar curved LED display serving as both instrument panel and infotainment system. Protruding forward between the front seats was another touchscreen that appeared to house some more controls, with open area, probably for storage, below it. The rear seats had the same sort of touchscreen between them. Built into the back of the front seats were a pair of rear-seat entertainment screens, much like we saw in the Lyriq. The door panels blended wood, metal and animated lighting to give character and a sense of opulence. GM interior design manager Tristan Murphy was on hand to tell us a bit more about the Celestiq.

Cadillac rushing update for laggy CUE infotainment system

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

BMW's innovative iDrive was introduced in 2001, and a dozen years later, automakers are still learning hard lessons about what consumers want in their infotainment systems. In response to owner feedback - and a few media drubbings - about the delayed and occasionally fickle responses of its CUE (short for Cadillac User Experience) system, Cadillac has told Wired that it's going to issue an update this year.
Coming for the XTS and ATS, the new software will mean quicker haptic feedback to driver inputs on the touchscreen and the buttons, and snappier responses on screen. Down the road, Cadillac's VP of marketing says that a different mix of screen controls and hard buttons is "something you'll be seeing in the future" - the system is presently a mix of touchscreen-based controls and capacitive-touch switchgear - there are no knobs or physical pushbuttons to speak of, and the omission of both has proven to be a divisive issue among consumers and industry pundits.
Cadillac hasn't provided a date for when the CUE update will be issued, but it has indicated that the service will be performed by dealers, not sent wirelessly.

How the demise of Lincoln's Town Car has kick-started a limo revolution

Sun, 30 Dec 2012

The deaths of the Ford Crown Victoria and the Lincoln Town Car have meant overhauls of three high-profile American fleets: police, taxi and livery car. Just as police fleets are more open to considering other options and a Nissan van is the new face of the NYC taxi, livery car companies are looking at replacements for the Town Car beyond The Blue Oval. Ford, via Lincoln, has made an MKT Town Car (pictured), but an article in the Detroit News claims "it has failed to win over most of the big limousine companies." The upstarts trying to move in include livery and limo editions of the Cadillac XTS, and livery specifications of the Toyota Avalon and Chrysler 300.
Each of those challengers, however, faces challenges. The Town Car was a workhorse, American, rear-wheel-drive sedan with plenty of rear legroom. Cadillac has been in the livery space before but with decontented models that were about selling the brand, not its luxury. It is taking the opposite approach with the XTS, pointing out that its livery edition is "contented in the upper half of the XTS range." Still, the CEO of Michigan's largest livery company says "it's quite a bit smaller than what we're used to," and he also prefers rear-wheel drive.
The Chrysler 300 is rear-wheel drive, and American, which matters to some companies, but Chrysler hasn't yet revealed the livery package for it. The livery Avalon marks Toyota's first time getting into that business in the US, a natural step after having done so well with taxi clients and with the Town Car out of the way. Still, the livery client is a different to taxi buyers, so the Avalon could face other soft-touch hurdles.
