2018 Cadillac CTS-V gets frosty with 115 Glacier Metallic Edition models
Sun, Aug 27 2017To celebrate the company's 115th anniversary, Cadillac has introduced a special edition of the CTS-V called the Glacier Metallic Edition. Apparently, Cadillac really likes creating special edition models focused on ice and cold. The name comes from the exclusive Glacier Metallic paint, which to us looks like a shade of white, but according to Cadillac, it's actually gray. In addition to the special color, the car also includes the normally optional Carbon Fiber Package and Luxury Package, along with red Brembo brake calipers. It also fits silver and gray forged wheels instead of the black ones the Carbon Fiber Package typically comes with. All the other features, including driving instruction in Las Vegas, are the same as a normal CTS-V. This special edition Cadillac isn't cheap, though. It runs $103,885. Optioning out a regular CTS-V in the same way as the Glacier Metallic model would save you roughly $6,000, and you wouldn't be missing any features. What you would miss out on would be the exclusivity. Cadillac is only building 115 CTS-Vs in this special color. So if you want to stand out -- at least as much as you can with such a subtle color -- the CTS-V Glacier Metallic Edition is the Caddy to buy. Related Video:
This '59 Cadillac is now on display at Toyota's museum in Japan
Tue, Dec 20 2016The Toyota Automobile Museum is different from a lot of other automaker collections in one very interesting way: It doesn't focus solely on Toyota's own automobiles. While the home team is certainly well represented, the love is spread to plenty of non-Toyota brands and vehicles that are significant to automotive history. And that permanent collection now includes the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible you see here. Yes, the '59 Caddy has the biggest tail fins ever, which makes it measurably significant. You still wouldn't expect to see it in a museum in Japan, though. After updates to the facility and its exhibits finish early next year, the 67-vehicle collection will also include such greats as a Renault 5 (known here as the Le Car), a '64 Ford Mustang, an Audi Quattro, a first-gen Honda Insight, and a Lotus Elite. Someone over there has good taste. You can visit the Toyota Automobile Museum the next time you're in Nagakute City, which is right outside Nagoya. We're booking our tickets now. C7 Corvette won't spawn new Cadillac XLR [w/video]
Fri, 23 Aug 2013Between the new 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray and the even newer Cadillac Elmiraj Concept shown off at Pebble Beach, we were already expecting some sort of chatter of a Cadillac XLR redux. During an in-depth C7 Corvette discussion with Tadge Juechter, the car's chief engineer, Fox News asked if a Corvette-based, Bowling Green-built Cadillac will be built off the C7. Non-spoiler alert: the answer is no.
Juechter says that General Motors has "no intent" on transforming this car into a Cadillac product since the C7 has been optimized for the Corvette buyer, a consumer that's generally a different sort of person than a Cadillac intender who might also be cross-shopping a Mercedes-Benz SL-Class or BMW 6 Series.
While we're not ready to write off a future XLR altogether, we assume that the Corvette Cadillac experiment is most likely never going to happen again. The interview with Juechter is posted below, but the XLR discussion comes in at the 9:00 mark.
