NO RESERVE NO EXTRA FEES AUCTION! In 2007 my Mother purchased the car from a funeral home with only 67k miles from the original owner. She enjoyed the car and is no longer driving. She sold me the car and over the winter 2014 I spent over 275 hours and $3800 in parts (wholesale) building a super reliable, dependable Fleetwood. I also wanted the sharpest Fleetwood in town! The car was not a wreck. I have a Dealership since early 2000's and full shop so I was able to restore it over the winter this year and it was a long adventure. The list I long but if you truly want a one of a kind deal read on. The 260 HP LT1 Corvette motor with 340 torque is running like a top! New drums, shoes, hoses, hardware, emergency brake cables, brake lines and shocks were installed. I went with air shocks in the rear end with the fill behind the rear license plate. That way the rear height is adjustable if I like it to be. All original air lines and pump are still intact. Then new front rotors, bearings, ceramic pads, brake hoses and brake lines. Then new front shocks, and stabilizer links with polyester bushings. Then I changed the Air conditioning compressor with a factory Delco one, receiver dryer, all seals and had it professionally charged. Opti-spark distributor, spark plug wires and spark plugs are new along with a new water pump, tensioner pulley and belt. The car doesn't leak a drop. The power steering pump was redone then I put in both new lines and a new power steering pressure valve. The starter was redone and the car has remote start and keyless entry. The radiator was flushed and new fluid was installed. I found the larger white wall tires that are speed rated 235/75/15 100s tires so they are tough and will last a long time. They set the car off! The factory chrome wheels were prepared for hours to prevent any leaks once the new tires were installed. Cadillac emblems are seen on the valve stems. I changed every brake line in the car to the copper nickel metal line to ensure they will never have issues again. When the lines were made they were ALL put back into the factory mounts on the body as they were from the factory. The exhaust manifold gaskets were changed (no broken bolts on this car) and the original bolts were upgraded to the harder 8.8 hardness so if these ever need to be done again there will be no broken bolts. I changed the mufflers and all of the clamps and mounts on the exhaust. I sent in the front bumper top to have it professionally redone since it is common to fade as it did. I purchased brand new rear quarter panel chrome spears and they look great! No stinky cigarette or pet smells present. These are a beautiful car with all of the chrome that you just don't see anymore on modern cars. The chrome is stunning on this car. It was a pampered car all of it's life. It is a sleeper that will perform if needed with that Corvette motor. I have enjoyed driving the car and know you will enjoy it as well. The bottom was coated with bed-liner to protect it since from the factory they are not undercoated. The oil, filter, air filter, gas filter, and gear oil and seals are all new. New wiper blades and I even changed all of the bulbs on the car. The radio works and the power antenna work. The power mirrors, locks, trunk release, trunk pull down, seats, heated seats, lumbar are working. Even the cruise control works. The cam positioning sensor is new. I converted the 2:92 rear end to a RPO GU6 3:42 rear end and springs from a 44k mile Fleetwood (tow package) then changed the seals and fluid .The speedometer is off a bit since the new gears are a different ratio and that also triggers the traction control light and the check engine light. The ECM can be re-flashed to accept the new size rear end gears I'm told. I will include the rear axle gears that were original and in great shape if you prefer to have the car back to original. The power is great and the fuel mileage is super. It's the perfect mix of luxury, power, economy, and grace!! The car has never towed but is now ready to. The transmission was serviced and has a new filter , gasket then the pan was freshened up. The transmission shifted like a new car before and after the service. The vinyl top is in new condition. The trim around the bottom of the top is redone and new clips were installed. No leaks in the trunk from this area since I sealed it properly. The paint on the car dazzles! I have 2 door dings. Both are on the rear doors. This one has the solar protection windshield that keeps the sun heat out. I have no cracks on my dash. The seats are comfortable. The carpets are pretty clean. Non smoker and pets car. I am selling some of my personal collection and that is the only reason I would ever consider selling this car. If you paid me $50.00 an hour, the labor for 275 hours is $13,750. Plus $3,800 in parts!! It was done for pride and I realize you will be getting the advantage. I have put 2000 miles on the car since it's restoration and it's GREAT! I always get the nicest comments but best of all it is like new mechanically. No extra fees in my auction so enjoy and I look forward to a fun transaction. Title is clean. The car was filmed on June 17, 2014 and will be parked until so it's exactly as you see it. I can provide pictures of the restoration on a flash drive to the new buyer if you like. Uship is a great place to get a shipping quote from Victor, NY 14564. International buyers welcome but make sure you check the cost to import to make sure it's worth it for you. Please schedule to bid and win! No reserve!! It's only worth what a buyer will pay. Cadillac's Johan de Nysschen clarifies a few points on the brand's future

Mon, Mar 19 2018

Last week, Motor Trend ran coverage on a journo roundtable with Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen. During the roundtable, de Nysschen cited a few reasons for the decline in sedan sales, including gas prices, "young consumers" — read, millennials — less interested in driving dynamics than lifestyle accessories, and the state of U.S. infrastructure. Jalopnik homed in on the last two reasons, and those became the story, including here in our post on the roundtable. So de Nysschen called Jalopnik to add more context. The original reaction pieces painted de Nysschen's rationales as an excuse for sporty sedans not selling well, when the issue is Cadillac's sporty sedans not selling well. His main clarification: "I wasn't advocating the idea that the world is black and white, that if you're a young buyer a millennial or a teenager that you don't enjoy driving." On that note, it would be ridiculous to deny millennial and sedan-segment bugbears; de Nysschen has market research and the industry-wide, rabbit-like crossover breeding program to back him up. Yet even as he touted the success of the XT5, noting that it's "the third-best-selling luxury nameplate in the U.S. after the Lexus RX, and the Mercedes C-Class," he could add, "But the irony is not lost on me that the C-Class is a sedan." The circumstances laid out in the follow-up piece inject more likely color into the situation: the brand's onetime, singleminded focus on the U.S., followed by a singleminded focus on China that left the U.S. market wanting for attention. We could add to that: years of lackluster products and awful attempts at volume and brand engineering under the old GM at the same time that downsized premium luxury products, crossovers, and SUVs began their rocketship trajectories; trying to live off the Escalade success; and the carmaker's desire not to offend its older, traditional buyers while concurrently wooing "coastal influencers." De Nysschen also acknowledged that Cadillac interiors aren't where they need to be, saying, "We recognize that's where we want to improve." The result, as de Nysschen put it, "We're playing with the hand that we've been dealt.

Super Cruise’s failsafes

Fri, Oct 6 2017

Even though Super Cruise is not a fully autonomous system, it incorporates redundancies like those used in aircraft to ensure failsafe operation. Before taking off on a 700-mile, 11-hour test drive of the system — and putting my life in its hands without my hands on the wheel — I sat down with Daryl Wilson, lead development engineer for Super Cruise, to get a deep dive into the system and its critical safety backups. Autoblog: First, what makes Super Cruise different from similar systems? Wilson: The key differentiator for Super Cruise is hand-free driving. It's an industry first in that respect. Our competitors require the driver at minimum to place their hands on the wheel with some frequency to ensure that the car knows that the driver is there. We don't. Two key technologies allow us to do this. One is our Driver Attention System, which is our methodology for making sure the driver is engaged with the vehicle and engaged with the road. This is a driver assist system, not a fully autonomous system. So it requires driver engagement. We use an infrared camera that constantly monitors the driver's face to determine the direction they're looking. We're looking for the driver to be what we call on-road — not on the center stack, not to left or right or down. That's all done by the tracking of the face. We also track that the eyes are open. It's infrared because at night you need to illuminate the face and you can't be shining a light into the driver's face. Then we have our lidar mapping that provides a foundation for control and redundancy to ensure safe performance. Autoblog: How does the mapping act as a redundant feature? Wilson: This system is only for use on divided, controlled access highways. What I mean by a divided highway is something more than a painted line between you and oncoming traffic. Whether that's a grassy area in between the lanes or a concrete barrier, anything that separates you from oncoming traffic. That's the divided highway part. The controlled access part is entrance ramps and exit ramps. Not with roads that cross at grade, with traffic crossing at the same level. To do that we geofenced these roads to ensure that operation is only allowed in these conditions. We don't just recommend you use it there; we ensure that you only use it there.

GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns

Sun, 05 Oct 2014

Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.
