1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham

1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham.  LT1 5.7 V8.  3X Black. AS NEW.  I call this the King of all Broughams and I think you will find it is well deserving of that title.   It is loaded with simply everything, and this includes HD V4P/FE2 trailer package and HD suspension, KG9 HD Alternator, GU6 3:42 Gears, KC4 HD Cooling with the massive engine driven fan, Goodyear GA Performance Tires, and ALL the good hardware ever possibly that could be ordered on any police, Impala SS, Roadmaster or Brougham that ever so few ever saw.  Then top it off with the VERY RARE factory Astro Roof, all the Brougham options, CD, Security Package, remote entry, Sungate Solar Tinting Windshield, 3X black color, Factory Chrome Wheels, and of course the famous LT1 in the very last year Brougham.... you got the makings of what should be the King of all Broughams!   Now none of this means one hill of beans unless the car is brand new with 800 miles......... and that is what this car is.....   So yes I will go out on a far limb with this one and say:   THIS is the KING of all Broughams!

Special Ordered new and put away by a GM Vendor,  Window Sticker on car. Delivered new with 300 miles in early 96, 800 miles, as new today.  Never outside a garage, never above 90 degrees, never below 50 degrees.  Perfect in every manner and representing the best of the best final year as well as any car ever could.  100% original other than GM replacement battery and original battery is saved too.

As most people know, this car represents the last year of the full size GM Body on Frame car.  A car that is certain never to be built again in light of the higher profit margin unibody cars now made.  This is also car that will outlast time. You see so many old cadillacs built on the chassis still going strong 40+ years later and still original.  Most of these cars were labeled as old designs, aging platform, low technology, etc.  They did not cater to the younger and hipper crowds.  Yes, they are old designs, one that dates back 50 years.. BUT looking at the big picture, is anything designed today actually better?  I have to say some things are, but putting a new "high tech" car to the test of time, I say no way.  It wont make it like one of these.

GM has nothing today that will do what this car will other than going into a commercial truck.  Because of that, these cars have become strong collectors.   Look at it this way..... Tomorrow's cars like Corvettes will be faster and better than the top model they build today.  That you can guarantee. Even if its powered by electric power... It will be faster that the one made today!  You will never have the best one unless you trade it every year.  You will lose HUGE money doing that.  Its what the car makers want you to do!   Tomorrow's Cadillacs will be better than the models made today too BUT will they be as well made as the body on frame cars made from the 50s-90s?    Hard to say, but one thing is certain.... You CANNOT buy a car like this today new and it will probably never be done again.... when it does... it will be well over 100K to do it too as unibody has set the expected profit levels on the manufactures and price points on cars today.  Do you think they are going to give you more car for less in the future as they did on these models when they were made????  Right!

That is kind of my philosophy as to why these old cadillacs have actually started to achieve an appreciation that is growing as strong as Corvettes, muscle cars, exotics and more.  Its simply a car that will never come again.   Its the last of the dinosaur, if you want to put it that way.   The B and D body cars of this vintage were built here in Arlington Texas and this style ran from 93-96.  Things are bigger in Texas and we were proud these cars were build here from 88-96.  The Escalade is now built in Arlington. The D body is the Brougham, it is actually a longer car than the B body Caprice/Roadmaster/Impala, thus it has its own chassis, but as a whole 99% the same things using the LT1 Engine, the 4L60 Trans and the large 8.5 Diff.  94-96 have the LT1 power plant and are the ones to have of this body style, 93 carried over the 92 5.7TBI engine.  A good motor, but when you have the LT1, that TBI motor is overshadowed.  Too bad they did not have the LT1 in the 90-92 cars... You would have probably the best of all there.  The LT1 is great and powerful engine that puts these cars in a performance category most people did not know they were actually capable of.  It came with a high quality stainless steel dual exhaust system, optional oil cooling systems and many things that were carried from the 9C1 police platform. These items helped extended the service life beyond what any Cadillac past these have done.  Time has proven that the iron head motors used in these cars are better than the alloy head corvette LT1s too.

Everyone has heard of the Impala SS, a modern collectible that did run pretty good for a large car.  The Impala is the same platform also built here in Texas.  Well the Brougham, Roadmaster and Caprice can do the same things as the Impala, some properly optioned ones actually better too!   Here is another interesting fact..... The Impala SS is considered by many as a very collectible car.  So much that if you wanted one brand new today, pick up the phone, pick one of the 3 colors they were made in, and you can get it....  They are out there saved in very high numbers.  That is not always a good thing for value as they are so plentiful.   Now try that with a Fleetwood........  Then try that with a 3X black Fleetwood Brougham.... The total production # for the Fleetwood was 12,596.  The Impala SS was 41,941.  Almost 4X!  The Fleetwood Brougham was also over $10K more new!   This was GM's King car and not a whole lot were saved... and FEW were optioned like this one!

As with many of my low mile cars, people always ask "is it for sale"  if so "how much".  Everything has a price of course and I am realistic when a good offer is presented, but on this one I am going to be rather proud of it for the obvious reasons.  To obtain this car, I paid a price that most people would come back and say "right", but it is what it is, I had to own it, it is probably the star car in my collection in terms of rare.   Not even my GT500KR, not even my 65 Riv, not even my 60 Eldo are as rare as this car.... They are only new once, and this is it.  No excuses, no ands, buts or or's.    It will be a price that will certainly make any interested party think twice as to ever put this car on a road.  It was bought as a collector, and that it will remain on my watch.  I always hate to make random claims on any car, but as a whole package, this is certainly the finest and lowest mile last year brougham on the planet.  Finding another like this is probably not possible, especially one that was bought new and saved specifically as a collector car.... but I have been known to be wrong too.  I always love to be proven wrong with the surface of an even better example!

Car is on ebay as I was offered a listing promotion.   This is only to reach like collectors for trades and common interest.  If you would like  to contact me with one that is as nice or you think is "just like this", I am a buyer ready to go on top rare 3rd gen cars.  Will even pay you a bone if you find me a museum level car I buy.  I am a collector that will trade in and out of museum level cars like this when the opportunity presents itself and this ad is the vehicle to reach out.  If you have an interesting trade... that is like this car in condition... I will be glad to consider just for a change of scenery too.  I also have brand new museum level rare examples too.    Thank you for looking.

Meet the other Cadillac wagon. It's as American as ABBA

Tue, Aug 16 2022

The Cadillac CTS Wagon became a cult classic the second it went on sale. We all knew that it was never going to sell in anything approaching significant numbers, and if that "we" didn't include those actually working at GM, one would have to wonder what they were smoking. Cadillac was still having a hard enough time trying to convince people that it was now a BMW-fighting sport luxury brand rather than the purveyor of Grandpa-piloted land yachts. To many, a sport sedan like the CTS seemed like a stretch. But a CTS sport wagon? It sure seemed like GM was just doing things for funzies, an impression only enhanced by the CTS-V Wagon. Forget cult classic. That thing was an instant legend.  And yet, the CTS wasn't the only Cadillac of that era offered as a wagon. It wasn't even the first. Before GM said "to hell with it, let's have some fun" on this side of the pond, over in Europe, it had already taken a page from its old badge-engineering playbook to create the 2006 Cadillac BLS Wagon. It was available as a sedan, too, but its awkward majesty is best enjoyed as the long-roof model.  There's just something off about the whole thing, right? That's probably because it also looks vaguely familiar, as if you've seen it before. So where the hell does this thing come from? Sweden! Behind that Cadillac Art and Science face is a Saab 9-3, and in the case of the BLS Wagon, the Saab 9-3 Sport Combi wagon. The roofline is the dead giveaway, as no other wagon has ever looked like that. In fact, the roof and windows were the only exterior elements to copy directly over from 9-3 to BLS. No kidding. With the Cadillac front end, doesn't the Saab-funky-boxiness make it look like a miniature hearse? The answer is yes. GM's design team, led by Ed Welburn, was quite pleased with his work. Perhaps it even egged him on to create a real Cadillac sport wagon? "The whole team was very excited to apply Cadillac's design language to a wagon for the first time," said Welburn in a press release from the time. "The V-shaped chrome-plated grille, a Cadillac hallmark, is picked up again by the shape of the rear window, and the body side character lines make it unmistakably a Cadillac." The interior is surprisingly different from the 9-3, including the ignition switch migrating from the center console up to the steering column. It also wasn't exactly in keeping with the Cadillac norm of the time.

Hennessy wastes no time in supercharging the 2015 Cadillac Escalade

Wed, 23 Apr 2014

The ink is still drying on the all-new 2015 Cadillac Escalade sales brochures, but that hasn't stopped Texas-based Hennessey Performance (HPE) from leaping out of the gate with its own high-performance variant. In stock form, the big fourth-generation Cadillac flagship arrives with a new small block naturally aspirated 6.2-liter Ecotec3 V8 delivering 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Fresh out of the showroom, the 5,900-pound SUV will sprint to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds.
While that is plenty fast for some owners, others don't want to be shamed by a 550 horsepower Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG or a 510 horsepower Land Rover Range Rover Sport - both will leave the stock Escalade at a stoplight.
The team at HPE has come to the rescue with its HPE550 supercharger upgrade, which includes a belt-driven supercharger, air-to-water intercooler, recalibrated engine management software and a three-year/36,000 mile powertrain warranty. With 6 psi of boost, the direct-injected 6.2-liter is tuned to deliver an impressive 557 horsepower and 542 pound-feet of torque - gains of 32 percent and 18 percent, respectively, over stock. Although HPE isn't releasing performance figures as of yet, our math says that should be enough power to put the two Europeans in the Cadillac's rearview mirror. The company also offers a set of 20-inch lightweight H10 forged monoblock wheels, to further improve performance.

Cadillac ATS-V Coupe caught undisguised ahead of LA reveal

Tue, 28 Oct 2014

Vsport versions of the CTS and XTS sedans are all well and good, but what Cadillac enthusiasts have really been looking forward to is the arrival of the next full-on V model. And here we have it.
Spied in the nude during an apparent photo shoot ahead of its anticipated debut at the fast-approaching Los Angeles Auto Show, the upcoming new Cadillac ATS-V Coupe is set to pick up where the old CTS-V left off, only in a more compact form. Unlike previous spy shots of heavily disguised prototypes, this final version is showing a chrome-framed mesh grille, along with a deep lower air dam with what looks to be a carbon-fiber front splitter. That bulging hood with heat extractor vents is tipped to be packing a twin-turbo V6 engine, breathing out of quad exhaust tips.
The aggressive aero kit also encompasses side skirts, a reshaped rear bumper and a lip spoiler on the truck, while the upgraded rolling stock wears serious low-profile rubber and the brakes appear to be carbon-ceramic units. Peer through the window and you can even see the sport bucket seats with slots for racing harnesses. All of which suggests a serious American challenger to the BMW M4 and its ilk, and we're looking forward to seeing the vehicle in the metal in LA next month.
