Unclaimed storage auction purchase. It's been parked at this storage facility for about 4 years. I don't know anything about it's history other than that.

I put in a used battery, picked the ignition lock with a lock pick, and it fired right up. Running on gas that's at least 4 years old, and it sounds pretty good.

Car starts, runs, drives and stops as you can see in this YouTube video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eo5IdKnBM6g

I haven't done anything, washed or checked anything on this vehicle, other than making it run as you can see. Appears to have about 77,000 miles which I believe are original. Some rust, notably in the common lower area behind wheels and rear and side edges of the hood, an unusual place for rust. Also a couple of small rust spots where the roof meets the side of the body, but only a couple and they are small. In the photos, the roof paint is peeling around the lower edges and that may look like huge spots of rust, but it is actually peeling roof paint with only a little rust as mentioned. The rest of the body is in good shape.

Some notes I made while I was with the car:

Driver's outside door handle is missing the thumb button so it won't open. Inside handle is there and moves but will not open the door.

Transmission has a fluid leak. Had to add some fluid to make it go into gear, a couple days later it had leaked out and needed more. I'm guessing this leak is why the previous owner stopped driving the car.

Aluminum radiator appears newer.

AC blows air through the correct vents, and it is cool but not cold.

Dash top is not cracked.

All glass is good all around.

Engine idles nicely, seems smooth and powerful.

Small exhaust leak sound at rear of manifold. This seemed to go away as the engine warmed up.

Power table seems to have wiring and such intact underneath, but when I was there I didn't know how to use it so I didn't test it.

Original hubcaps have skulls in the center.

Tires hold air and that's about the only good thing I can say about them.

Newer muffler with older exhaust pipes.

Headlights, tail lights, brake lights, horn all working. Turn signal needs a bulb on one side, other side works.

In short, this vehicle will need everything checked out and certainly some repairs before being ready for the road.

ABOUT THE PAPERWORK:

This vehicle was sold in accordance with California Self Storage Lien Sale laws. The previous owner stopped paying rent and lost the vehicle. Correct and legal lien sale paperwork from the facility is included, and I can also write a Bill of Sale from me to you if you want one. This paperwork allows you to take title to this vehicle within California. If you are buying from outside California or from another country, be aware that your local government may not recognize California Lien Sale paperwork and you'll have to figure out your own s*** in that case.

Once you purchase this vehicle, you must remove it from the facility within 7 days of purchase. I'm now paying rent here for this vehicle and the space is NOT transferable to the next owner... they want the vehicle removed. The facility is located in Santa Ana, California, near the 405 Freeway.

Contact me for anything that may be unclear.

Ward's reveals annual 10 Best Engines list for 2013

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

Ward's Auto has released its annual 10 Best Engines award winners. The 2013 list covers the full width and breadth of the internal combustion spectrum, from a spate of efficient four-cylinders to the most powerful production V8 on the planet. As always, the entries must be available in a production vehicle in the first quarter of 2013 with an MSRP of less than $55,000. The supercharged 3.0-liter V6 from the Audi S5 held on for the fourth consecutive year, and BMW earned two spots on the list with its turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder and turbo 3.0-liter inline-six.
Ford pulled in two awards for its 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and and the supercharged 5.8-liter V8 from the Shelby GT500. Honda matched BMW and Ford with two wins of its own. Wards awarded the 2.4-liter four-cylinder from the Honda Accord Sport as well as the 3.5-liter V6 from the Honda Accord. Chrysler, General Motors and Subaru each garnered a spot on the list as well for the 3.6-liter V6 in the Ram 1500, the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the Cadillac ATS and the 2.0-liter four-cylinder the Subaru BRZ, respectively. Bridging The Gap With Power And Poise
As you read these words, West Coast Editor Michael Harley is preparing to drive the brand-new 2014 Cadillac CTS along the gorgeous, sun-drenched roads of Southern California. And while I'll wait for Harley's full report before I put words in his mouth, I'm willing to bet he enjoys the hell out of Cadillac's new CTS. In fact, I'm sure of it.
I say this with confidence because, about a month ago, I spent the better part of a day flogging the new CTS Vsport around the 2.9-mile Milford Road Course - a challenging circuit laid out in the infield of an oval test track at GM's proving grounds in southeast Michigan. The MRC was built about a decade ago after Bob Lutz was lured out of retirement to work closely with GM's product development team, and thus, this circuit is known informally as the "Lutz Ring." The main objective of the MRC was to have an in-house facility for engineers to fine-tune vehicle dynamics, without having to constantly schlep cars over to Germany's infamous Nürburgring. (Of course, they still do.)

GM laying off more than 4,000 workers Monday morning

Sat, Feb 2 2019

According to reports from Automotive News, The Detroit News, and CNN, General Motors plans to begin laying off more than 4,000 salaried workers starting Monday morning. In a statement to AN, a spokesperson for the automaker said, "We are not confirming timing. Our employees are our priority. We will communicate with them first." We've been expecting layoffs at General Motors since November, 2018. At the time, the Detroit-based automaker announced it would seek to shed 8,100 salaried employees, shut down five assembly plants in North America, and kill off several slow-selling models. One month earlier, GM offered buyout packages to 18,000 workers and said it would seek to cut its global workforce by 25 percent. A spokesperson said at the time the moves were "proactive steps to get ahead of the curve by accelerating our efforts to address overall business performance." The cost-cutting moves are expected to save GM up to $2.5 billion in 2019 and as much as $6 billion by 2020. David Kudla, CEO and chief investment strategist of Mainstay Capital Management, referred to the impending culling as "Black Monday" and told The Detroit News that the layoffs would begin around 7:30 a.m. and continue in waves throughout the coming days and weeks. GM plans to deliver on its fourth-quarter and full-year 2018 earnings report on Wednesday. President Donald Trump plans to deliver the annual State of the Union address a day earlier on Tuesday. We expect to hear plenty more from both sides over the next several days.
