*** THERE IS A SLIDESHOW WITH MORE DETAILED PICS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS AUCTION *** 1969 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Special 60. 4dr Sedan. Sable black with blue cloth interior. Black vinyl top. 472 V8 Automatic. A/C. Power steering, power brakes, power windows, power door locks, power seats, cruise control, even power trunk release. This car is a mixed bag. Mechanically, this car runs just fine. Starts up on the first key turn. Gas tank was cleaned out, Holley carb was rebuilt, new brake booster and new rear brake shoes. So it runs and stops just fine. It even still handles nice and smooth just like a vintage Cadillac should. Most of the issues are cosmetic and will need a body man to fix. The A/C will need some work to get running. The passenger side window does not work. And there may be various other little things that need addressing. Not really sure. The major issue is the roof. The vinyl top needs to be removed and the roof needs to be sanded down. Some of the roof will have to be welded or patched. Mainly in the top of the rear on the passenger side. There are also some rust holes above the windshield and in the rear under the vinyl top trim which leak into the trunk that will also have to be spot welded up. Once this is done, a new top can be put on and you are good to go. The body is pretty straight except for a slight ding on the drivers side fin and some scrapes in the bottom of the doors. I believe the scrapes are from where the previous owner might have drove it up on his car hauler which was too narrow for the car. I think all of these can be repaired without replacing the doors. The drivers door is the worst and I think you can remove the door panel with the window up and hammer it out and it will be fine. The trunk weatherstrip channels on this car do not have any rust. The weatherstripping will have to be replaced though. I am including new trunk weatherstripping with the car. The interior obviously will need new seat covers, carpet, and a headliner once the roof is repaired. The door panels are pretty rough as well. You can find these parts with a simple search online and on Ebay. The steering wheel will either need a new pad or need to be replaced. You can do a search on Ebay for "Grant Cadillac Wood Wheel". They make a pretty cool wooden one for it with a Cadillac center cap. I inspected the floors while this car was up on the rack and there were no holes. The trunk pan is also solid. The drop-offs were even holding water from the holes mentioned above until I dried them out so there are no holes in the rear quarters either. Both of the bumpers are almost mint. All the glass is good except for the front windshield. It has bubbled around the edges and has some wiper scrapes. I have included pics of some late 60s Cadillacs to give some build ideas for this car. It would be a pretty sweet car with some new paint or maybe done in satin, lowered, with some 20s or Coker white-walls. It just depends what you want to do and how far you want to go with it. *** The car will come with a bill of sale ONLY. Cadillac's Butler announces surprise departure
Mon, 05 Aug 2013The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Cadillac's vice president of global strategic development, Don Butler, has resigned. Butler has held the position since April, after a term as vice president of US marketing for General Motor's luxury brand.
As the report explains, the timing here is pretty unfortunate for Cadillac. Butler is the third high-profile member of Cadillac's brass to depart in recent months, following the firing of US sales boss Chase Hawkins and the pending departure of Susan Docherty. Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell told the Detroit paper, "Bob [Ferguson]," global boss for Cadillac, "and other leaders asked him to stay on. Don's here in the office today - and told our team that his decision is purely on a personal level. After three years of putting everything into Cadillac, he is stepping away for some personal time, and to consider new avenues in his life."
Butler says his decision is part of a decision to "recalibrate, reassess my priorities." Whatever the reason, it's an unpleasant surprise for Cadillac, which has been on a surge in 2013, with 30-percent jump in sales on the heels of the hot-selling ATS.
Cadillac ELR next EV to get Plugless Power wireless charging tech
Mon, Jul 28 2014Evatran has been testing its Plugless Power wireless charging systems for electric vehicles in the Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf for years now and made the tech commercially available early this year. With the growth of the EV market, Evatran is getting ready to expand as well. The company announced today that it will add three premium EVs to the Plugless Power system by the end of the year, with the first (and so far only) named model being the Cadillac ELR. We expect it was not difficult for Evatran to adapt the Plugless Power system to the ELR, since the vehicle's powertrain is so similar to the one in the Volt. The main problem we see is that Cadillac has only sold 390 ELRs (as of the end of June), so this first Plugless Power expansion isn't exactly going to ignite sales, even if every ELR owner opts for the cool tech. If one of the next two announcement is for the Tesla Model S, though, then you're talking numbers. Speaking of the future, what models do you think will be next? The Plugless Power L2 wireless systems were recently declared safe by the Intertek and start at $2,470, not including installation or government incentives. All the online/smartphone connectivity features that work with the car when it's got a cord stuck in it work with the L2 system, Evatran says. Orders start today, and the ELR package will be available September 1. There's more, including a local news report on the technology, below. WSLS 10 NBC in Roanoke/Lynchburg Va Wireless Vehicle Charging available to Cadillac ELR owners starting September 1st The Cadillac ELR Joins the Growing List of Compatible Electric Vehicle ("EV") Models from Evatran, the World Leader in High-Power Wireless Charging RICHMOND, VA July 28, 2014 – In an exciting statement today, Evatran Group, Inc. ("Evatran"), announced that its PLUGLESS wireless charging technology would soon be available on the Cadillac ELR. Evatran, the first Company in the world to make wireless charging available to individual EV drivers, currently has systems that are compatible with the Nissan LEAF and Chevrolet Volt. The Cadillac ELR is the first model to be announced in what is intended to be three new premium model announcements by the end of 2014. Evatran will begin accepting advanced orders today for deliveries as soon as September 1st. "The launch of the Cadillac ELR system is an important milestone for us," commented Rebecca Hough, Evatran CEO and Co-Founder.
Meet the mother-daughter team that's worked on almost every Chevy Volt
Sun, May 11 2014It's Mother's Day, and we're soft enough we love our mothers enough to share a new video from General Motors with you. In it, we meet Monique Watson (left) and Evetta Osbourne, a mother-daughter team that works at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly where GM makes the Chevy Volt (along with all of GM's other plug-in hybrids: the Opel Ampera, Holden Volt and Cadillac ELR). The two work side-by-side and have installed the lithium-ion battery pack on almost all of those vehicles - nearly 80,000 of them - since GM started making the pre-production Volts in 2009. In a prepared statement, Watson said that she likes working next to her mom, day in and day out, and they the two are totally in sync when it comes to putting the 400-pound, 16.5-kWh packs into the vehicle undersides. They two can also share stories throughout the day, and Watson said, "The arrangement has absolutely improved our relationship." Osborne started working at Detroit-Hamtramck in 1999, Watson since 2006. If you're driving a Volt today, you probably have them to thank for doing a bit of the work putting your car together. See a short video of them in action below. It's Always Mother's Day for Detroit-Hamtramck Duo Mother, daughter install lithium-ion battery pack in nearly all GM electric vehicles 2014-05-08 DETROIT – For Detroit resident Evetta Osborne, every day is Mother's Day. That's because she literally works side by side with her daughter, Monique Watson, at General Motors' Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. They have installed the lithium-ion battery pack on nearly every Chevrolet Volt, Opel Ampera, Holden Volt, and Cadillac ELR since production began. In fact, apart from vacation days and an occasional sick day, the mother-daughter duo has installed almost every battery pack since the Volt was in pre-production in 2009. The ELR launched earlier this year. All told – including Ampera – that's more than 80,000 electric vehicles. "We're a good team and our relationship is secondary when it comes to performing our jobs – but it's great to work alongside my daughter, said Osborne, a mother of five. Because the battery packs weigh more than 400 pounds each, automatic guided vehicles – robotic carts that use sensors to follow a path through the plant – deliver them just as the vehicle body structures glide into position overhead. The carts then lift the T-shaped packs, and Osborne and Watson guide them into the chassis and secure each one with 24 fasteners.
